The air leaves my lungs in a whoosh.

  “What’s going on?” I ask.

“We are making a proof of life video, but I want him to suffer a little.”

  “He won’t. I promise.”

“You better hope he cares, girl. Otherwise, we have no use for you or your baby.”

“How did you know?” I ask shocked before I can even think to stop myself.

“I’ve had five children. You think I don’t know the signs?”

“What signs?” I ask. I just want to keep her talking.

“The little belly pooch mostly. It wasn’t there a few weeks ago,” she says, shrugging. I have a little belly pooch. I look down, but I don’t see anything but dirt and grime on my t-shirt.

“You’ve been watching me that long?”

  “A couple of months now.”

“Oh.” I have no sense of danger, I guess.

“We need to get this over with,” Siobhan says impatiently. I hate her.

“You’re right,” Bridget says as she fiddles with the phone then holds it up.

Siobhan raises her knife and slashes out at me. The blade slices my forearm like it’s fucking butter. I don’t cry out and I can tell that pisses her off even more than she already is.

She then moves her blade to my belly.

“Siobhan don’t be a crazy ass bitch. I just told you that she’s pregnant,” Bridget all but shouts.

“Fine,” she says, rolling her eyes. Son of a bitch. I close my eyes and pray for help. I cry out in pain as she makes a cut on my face. What the fuck?

“That’s enough, Siobhan,” my eyes fly open at the new male voice in the room.

“Stay out of this Ryan,” she screams, spittle flying from her mouth. He pulls his guns, yes that’s both of them. One is pointed at Bridget and the other at Siobhan.

“Mom, what the fuck are you doing?” he asks.

“Revenge,” she says. “I don’t want to hurt her, just get to that Tori Jorgensen.”

“Ma, you can’t do this. You are hurting her. She’s bleeding everywhere.”

“Don’t worry about it. Get out of here Ryan.”

“Fuck, I should have told you,” he says hanging his head.

  “Told me what?”

Suddenly, I hear wood splintering and Ryan’s gun moves the half inch from Siobhan to me. Bridget drops the phone and raises her gun to me.

  Fuck, this is it.

  I love you, Tori.

  Chapter 13

  Tori

The Colonel chartered a jet for us to Boston. Thank fuck because there is no way I was going to keep it cool, in the car driving there.

“How well do you know Ryan O'Connor?” I turn to look at Axel. His face is serious and deadly.

“We are not going to be drinking Dos Equis together anytime soon. But when we were surveilling his brother, he was the biggest intel we had.”

“You didn’t find that suspicious? It’s unlike the Irish to turn on each other.”

“I thought about that myself. But that was a worry for another day. We wouldn’t have been able to get to him without Ryan.” The question he asked is what is replaying over and over in my head. Did allowing Ryan to live, put Kensie in danger? I hope not. Because his mother will be minus two sons by the time this over.

“When we land, we will be ten minutes from the destination.” The pilot comes over the radio and alerts us.

We get off the jet and drive the ten minutes to the O’Connor Mansion. We take a few minutes to survey the area and make sure there is no one else keeping guard. Once we are sure there is no one, we put our communication buds in our ears and split up. Axel takes the back and me the front.

“On my count. 1, 2, 3.” I bust through the door, going through the living room. I see no one. As I am about to hit the stairs, I hear yelling from the next room.

“Kensie!!!” I yell as I head in that direction.

“I got them. Backroom. Off the kitchen.” I move like my life depends on it because it does. I walk into the room and my knees almost give out. Kensie is tied to a chair, with a gun pointed at her head, by Bridget. Ryan is also in the room, waving a gun around telling everyone to calm down. Like that is going to happen.

  “Ryan. What the fuck!”

“It’s not what it looks like Tori. I swear. I didn’t do this. I didn’t know either that they were planning something like this.” Yea, ‘cause I believe that.

“Bridget, you better move that fucking gun away from her head, or you’re going to be joining your son. Both of them.”

“Screw you. You murdered my boy. My precious innocent boy. For that, I get to take the one thing you love.” I raise my gun as she moves in closer to Kensie.

“Kensie, baby, you ok?” My eyes move down to her stomach, so she knows I am asking about the two of them.

“I’m ok. I’m ok. Tori, I love you. I’m sorry. I should never have left.” It is fucking gutting me that she thinks this is the end. I hate that for even a second she was scared. That my baby in her belly, has been in jeopardy.

“Bridget, you have three seconds to take that gun away from her head or I put one in Ryan’s.” I cock my gun and put it up to Ryan’s head to let her know I mean business. Axel, still behind them, looks at me in askance. Asking me if I want him to take the shot. I know he won’t miss. But the problem is, she could still pull the trigger. Her hand is still aimed at my woman.

“Whoa. Everybody calm down. Ma, look at me. Look at me.” She turns her head towards him.

“I should have told you about Patrick. I just, I didn't want you to be an accessory. But the truth is, he was off the reservation. He was selling girls overseas on those prohibition trips he was taking. Not to mention giving little kids drugs to sell for him at school.”

“That’s a lie. My boy would never do something like that.”

“It’s true mom. I'm sorry.” She looks over at Siobhan and I notice she hasn’t said a word. Bridget notices too.

“Siobhan. Is this true?” Axel takes the distraction and pulls her to the floor, removing the gun from her hand. I move to Kensie and untie her.

“It’s ok baby. I got you. Are you ok? How’s the baby?” Her face is covered in blood as is her arm. I move my hand down to her stomach.

“We are both fine Tori.” She wraps her arms around my waist. My heart won’t stop pounding. The thought that I could have lost them both is almost too much. One thing is for sure, I am done waiting for anything. I grab her hand and put the ring that has been burning a hole in my pocket on it.

  “Tori, what…”

“We or rather I have wasted a lot of time trying to be supportive and give you time. I am done. I almost lost you both, Kensie. I can’t live like this anymore. We are getting married as soon as possible, baby. I love you so fucking much. And our baby.”

“We love you too, Tori.” Our mouths meet, because there is nothing more to say.

  Chapter 14

  Kensie

The morning of my wedding dawns bright. I've never been this ready for something to be over than I am right now. This hastily thrown together event hides nothing. He gave me ONE day after we spent a week in Boston. Not that I am complaining. I am sure that had I protested, Tori would have let me plan some elaborate wedding, but truth be told, I didn't want that. I just want to be his. With his baby in my belly and soon to have his last name, I am. The engagement ring he put on my hand immediately after he found me is going to take some getting used to. It's gorgeous and the story of it brought me to tears, I can only hope I can live up to the legacy of the woman before me.

The kidnapping itself was something else. I am no worse for the wear. After we were assured that I was fine at the hospital despite the stitches I needed, we checked into a hotel where Tori proceeded to show me just how much he loves me. I blush at the memory. There is where he told me I was the only woman he'd ever been with. We did so many things that I didn't know were possible. We had Bridget and Siobhan arrested. I didn't want
those misguided women's blood on our hands. Poor Ryan. He was such a nice guy about everything.

He thought he was sparing their feelings by lying to them, but he knows better now. He is moving to Bleak within the month, not wanting a thing to do with the family business. I can't believe Berserker hired him, but I think he'll be an asset. Apparently, he's the complete opposite of his brother.

I stare at myself in the mirror. My dress is my something old and something borrowed. It is Enid' dress and my mom's veil. The dress is off white and hangs off one shoulder. It's hits just at my knees. It's somehow very 60's, 80's, and now. My mom's veil is also off white but very short, more like a funeral veil, but it goes well with the dress.

The look on Tori's face as I walk out to him tells me everything I need to know. He looks so handsome in his church suit. His nephew, Bill, is officiating. He is the pastor of Bleak's non-denominational church. I should say that he is his nephew who is older than him. Let's not get started on Miss Enid. She's a badass former spy who really likes her husband. She was having babies well into her forties. But I guess with the state's top gynecologist as your husband, you feel pretty comfortable with that. At the end of the aisle I kiss my father's cheek and he hands me over to Tori. His fingers graze over the back of my palm in slow even strokes. I promised myself I wasn't going to cry, but I think that ship has sailed as my wry thoughts meet the tears actually streaming down my face. The all too quick ceremony is over before I know it. Suddenly, I am Mrs. Tori Jorgensen and I have never been happier.

They say that the love of a good man is what gets you through life. While I agree with that statement, loving that good man in return also gets you through life. Our first kiss as man and wife sets the tone for the rest of our lives and it thrills me. It's not more than ten minutes into our reception before we are consummating our marriage in the hall closet. As we were walking back in, everyone applauded knowing what we were doing just now.

As if I didn't already know, I'm totally going to fit in with his family.

  Epilogue

  Tori

  3 months later

“Tori. I want to go to sleep. I’m exhausted.” I look over at my wife and smile. I am more than aware that she is tired. She is carrying around two precious bundles in her stomach. We found out a month a half ago, that she was having twins. Every time we would go have an ultrasound the other one would be hiding. Then finally, poof. To say we were both shocked is an understatement.

Since finding that out, we have been a frantic mess. Which is precisely why my family and I have decided to throw her a surprise baby shower.

“I promise you are going to love it, baby. Come on. Let’s go.” I lead her inside the building. I knock three times, so they know it's us. As soon as we walk in everyone jumps out.

  “Surprise!!!”

“Oh my God. How did you guys do all this?” She turns to me with tears in her eyes. “Tori...” Oh shit. I hate it when she cries.

“Baby, stop. I know they are happy tears, but you know how I get. Please stop.”

“I’m sorry. I am just so happy. I love you so much.”

“I love you too baby. Now let’s go mingle.”

As we walk around and party with my family, I finally feel like I'm complete.

  Sixteen Months Later

I am not sure where I get my strength these days, but I do. I am exhausted all the time. The only time I’ve ever felt this way was when I was newly pregnant with Bjarke and Embla. No! I can’t be?!? But honestly, I probably am. Since we got the go ahead from Dr. Denise, Tori hasn’t kept out of me. If we’ve had a free moment, he’s been inside of me and I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’ve just put the kids to bed after a three in the morning bottle. Climbing back into bed, he pulls me towards him, and I rest my head against his chest.

"They go down easy?" he asks.

"Yep. They were just hungry." They refuse to sleep apart and it's adorable. I'm absentmindedly running my fingertips over his chest when he grabs my wrist.

  "What's wrong, Cricket?" He asks.

"Huh? Oh, um… I think I might be pregnant again.

"My seed is strong," he says like a chuckling caveman. "But that is good news indeed."

I breathe a sigh of relief. This reaction is infinitely better than the first time. He rolls me over, climbing on top of me. My legs automatically open and his already hard cock hits my clit. I moan and he slides deep inside of me.

I never knew love, this love, our love would be like this. I can't wait to see what the future brings us.
