John, the Remembered
By: Joseph
High above the planet of Tyrone a Hammerhead Corvette flew at the command of John a skilled and expert pilot. Everyone loved him except for the god Hades. Hades is the god of dread, rocks, and unfortiance. Hades loathed John so much that he wanted to kill him but he couldn't, so he came up with a plan on how he was to make John's life miserable.
He commanded rocks from outer space to collide into John's ship. Soon a huge storm of asteroides were pounding John’s ship. The Hammerhead Corvette smashed through the atmosphere and into the dirt of Tyrone. As John stepped out of his ship he had realized that the gods were against him so he ran away from his crew and left them to die.
As John flew, he heard a scream from his crew. He ran back to the wreck, when he got there he watched Jen and the rest of the crew be taken away by the natives of Tyrone. John hid in a bush near by then he met Harry and Barry, two of the natives. Harry and Barry took him to their hut and told him they were helping him, but at a cost. They wanted him to build a translation droid. Later that day John had finished building the droid for the twins. Later that night Harry, Barry, and John went creeping around the camp. They were only able to break out Jen and one other crew member….
“Come on,” John said, “we have to get out of here.” The group rushed through the forest till they came to a swamp, with deadly poison tree flowers. Without thinking, every one dashed into the swamp, then abruptly, John and the other crewmember (that John, Harry, and Barry rescued) were sinking in quicksand. Suddenly John was given a surge of strength and pulled himself out of the bitter sand, and just in time too, because the other crew member was swallowed up by the quick sand. Soon the team came upon a cave and then decided to stay a little while….
Then they spotted a talking frog named Nut. John knew that the frog lives off of fuel of working spaceships, he is very dull, and super annoying, so he told Nut that if he gave us his ship he would give him three small space cruisers. Without a doubt Nut gave him his ship. So with John's promise Nut tagged along with John and his crew to John’s home world Trivia, one of the most beautiful and rich planets in the solar system.
Hades watched in anger as John excapes his doom and flies away back to Trivia. Surged with anger, Hades comes up with another plan. When the crew gets back to Trivia, their horrid, excited faces change dramatically to a weeping grignot. They find out that fire was rained across the burning world.
Suddenly, 10 members of the Rebellion popped up out of nowhere and shot the team with sleeping darts including the frog, “Nut.”
When John woke up he found himself in a interrogation room. Then the blinding light popped on and someone came into the room and they asked him many questions like “who are you,” “ where do you come from,” and “what was that talking frog doing with you.” Then mysteriously, the prophet of Hades said to John “Hades is the one who has brought this upon you, the only way to fix this is to kill Sini (a giant, six headed vulture).”
Sulked, with this news John retreated to his room that the Rebellion has assigned him. Then the air whirled around him, then he was at the garden of opportunity. Only the gods were allowed here. Then it was over.
John woke up and knew what to do. He gathered the Rebellion and told them now is the time to strike Sini’s palace. Then someone in the crowd said “Break a leg.” Then he was teleported to his location, Sini’s palace. Hades knew there was going to be a fight and told Sini to create a stone army.
When the Rebellion went to Sini’s place to bye John some time.
In the palace courtroom Sini waited patiently, for John to come. But John was already there. Then all of a sudden John was seen, he hopped out of his hiding spot and prepared for the battle.
First it was Sini’s time to battle but John dodged all six of her heads. Then he sunk his sword into Sini’s heart, as he watched Sini fall with a loud “Thud,” he knew his task was complete. So he went into the smoky woods and no one ever caught sight of him again and his story inspires many generations to come.
The Artanian Plague
By Ben Decker
I was looking through the trees. Artanious was yelling at my elderly father. We went back to work on our farm after their argument. I did my job in taking care of crops as my sister fed the animals. Artanious came back with a basket holding something I couldn’t make out, he was too far away. I strolled over to him. He was apologizing to my father about the pandemonium he had caused earlier. The basket he was wielding was a fruit basket.
Later that night after an amicable day on our farm, we went to the table to have dinner. My father was snacking on one of the fruits he had received while my mother carried the delectable looking roast pig out. The aroma of this succulent looking dinner filled my nose with a great scent.
After dinner we sat outside to tell stories by our campfire, then headed to our rooms for a good night's rest. Later that night my mother came in and said to follow her as she jolted away. I sensed something was wrong. My adrenaline kicked in and I shot straight to the room. My father was pale and sweaty. About half an hour later his pulse stopped. I tried to wake myself up, thinking it was a nightmare but it wasn’t this was reality, this had really happened. When I awoke from the long night the goddess of health, Feraye (fer- Arr- yay) told me she checked his deceased body, and what she had came out was the most deadly poison we halve records of. I knew it had something to do with Artanious. We went back to work and around mid-day it hit me so hard.
“Why haven't I thought of it!,” I stressed. “ It was the fruit in the basket he was presented with!”. I communicated with Feraye that he that he had eaten a fruit that Artanious gave him and it was poisoned. She told me that he will see what it’s like to mess with deadly potions.
Not long after she spread a cumulonimbus sized gas over his city of Artanian. I saw chaos was happening down there. Soon I heard moans and lots of footsteps. They came over the hill with flesh and body parts missing. The pale grey skin and the look on their faces was haunting. They came after my family. I outran them, too caught up with myself living that I didn’t realize they were being surrounded. I ran to save them but I failed again. The disgustingly bloody mess horrified me. Their entrails were spilled and the people, wait I can’t even called them that. The things were shoving the flesh into their mouths like it was the best thing they had ever tasted. I ran far, not being able to live with myself anymore, knowing that I had failed my whole family. Artanious yelled my name. “Perseus!!!”,
I turned and said “Your town deserves this. You played with Potions so a friend of my is doing the same.”. He told me he was sorry and if we could work together. I knew something was wrong. He said “Ok, bud?”. As he stood to a different position, I saw the end of a knife he was wielding. I charged, and as I did he pushed he pushed his knife into me. I grabbed him. “Jokes on you” I spoke. He looked shocked as I drove my dagger into him. He whimpered
He spat out “You’ll pay for this” then he gagged one last breath as we both fell. I must’ve hit one of his major arteries because he had no pulse. I guess I was lucky to manage until Feraye came to save me. She released the plague off the city and wiped the citizens memories of the horrible incident. In which I would would think they wouldn't know much about because at the time they were creatures. She said that since Artanious wasn’t alive anymore the city would be mine and would be named Perseus.
The Whimper in the Woods
By Haley
“Get up!” Vanessa said “We should go explore!” Vanessa’s friend Abby got up as slow as a snail. Vanessa was up already and darting ahead, but Abby was trudged very slowly.
“Can we just stroll back to the tent please it is cold and scary outside?” Abby said.
“No, I want adventure and yesterday we spent the entire day in the tent so let's go.” Vanessa insisted. After several minutes, Abby stopped sulking and hiked faster, enjoying the beau
tiful woods.
They came across a shadowy and mysterious cave. They heard a loud whimpering noise as if an animal was hurt but I thought that it was just Abby whining again. As they stepped closer they saw a green shimmer inside of the cave and smelled something horrible that reminded them of manure. Moments later, they felt a jerk on their waists as they were emerged into the darkness. They were perplexed and terrified at the same time. Abby shuddered in fear while Vanessa charged for the opening. They saw a huge, green, and creepy monster creeping towards them. As it got closer they saw that it was no small creature but it was a enormous dragon!
As Vanessa sprinted straight for the opening she realized that Abby was not behind her! But by the time she got back to Abby so she could snag her, but the dragon had already blocked their path. His colossal sized scaly tail was in the way he had smacked it on the ground and blocked the entrance. They screamed so loud, but no one else was there so no one could hear them. They were all alone.
They took a step back and thought about what to do because sprinting for their lives obviously did not work. Vanessa, and Abby then decided that they should try to persuade the dragon.
“Please, we just want to leave we will do anything just let us leave!” They said roughly at the same time. Soon enough the dragon signaled to his oversized claws and we all noticed that he had some sort of thorn in his claw.
They thought back to earlier that morning when they heard loud whining noises and realized it was him. So, they grabbed to thorn and yanked and yanked until it came out. They celebrated for a moment but then remembered they could leave so they said goodbye to the dragon and left with the taste of rocks and rubble in their mouth from when they fell, but as they walked out they suddenly got a strange feeling . They felt as if they wanted to stay. So, they decided to leave and come back every Saturday and visit.
So, every Saturday the dragon would sit outside his cave and wait for them to come back.
The War of Solis
By Mason
Long ago there was a city called Solis, on an island off in the Mediterranean Sea. The city was named after the God Apollo because solis means sunlight and Apollo is the God of the sun, whom they worshipped everyday. There lived a dad, Parrok, and his son, Cybus. They were a very peaceful tribe and didn’t like war. They had a jungle covering the whole top of the buildings which made it so from an aerial view, it is almost invisible. Parrok and his son were both soldiers and fought side by side.
One fateful day, Hermes came to share a dreadful message for the people.
He stated that, “ Athenian troops are heading your way. At least 20,000 well trained troops. They wish to take over your city, not destroy it.” That was it. No details for what direction they were coming from or anything. The people of Solis had to figure out plan immediately. The Athenians were coming with a better army, more troops, and no one would fight with the Solis troops because it would just be a hopeless cause. They had a general who went by the name of Gen. Cerbus who would come up with one of the greatest plans of all time. There was a miniature island just a little distance away that had giants all over it. Gen. Cerbus had the plan to capture these giants and make them fight. The people all gathered to hear his plan.
“We will capture the giants and put them all around the island,” he stated, “ once we have them in place we will hide in the trees above our city. When the Athenians are in the city we will have them surrounded. All of our soldiers will have bows and arrows to rain down on them when they are surrounded. There are several groups of soldiers that will move in at different times after we shoot them. We will win this battle!”
“Yeah!” the scared crowd cheered.
The next week the Athenians were sailing to Solis. The giants hurled huge rocks at the Athenians and took out at least 10 ships. When the Athenians made it to the city they had to fight off the giants until they were either dead or they had retreated. They entered the city and found all of the gold in one big pile in the center of the city. Now the people of Solis came out and rained arrows down on the Athenian warriors. Parrok and Cybus led one group of soldiers down to flank the enemies. They fought back to back battling the Athenians. Once the Athenians had lost too many people they tried to retreat. Parrok was convinced there were no more left but one Athenian soldier came from behind and stabbed him in the back. Parrok fell to the ground dying. Cybus saw his father bleeding and rushed to his side. It was inevitable, Parrok was going to die. Cybus was fuelled with anger and was stronger than ever. He definitely finished the job and drove the invaders out.
Most of the surviving Athenians made it out but at least 150 were captured and put into the Solis army. Cybus got married and he went on expeditions to new unexplored areas. He lived a happy life with his family and never forgot about his dad.
Heroes of Egypt
Camden
A very long time ago, in Ancient Egypt there lived heroes who helped the gods retrieve lost items. The god Ra, the Egyption sun god, got in a huge argument with the god of the underworld and death, Anubis. Anubis stole Ra’s golden staff and now Ra has summoned 2 of the best heroes he can to retrieve his staff.
Ace and Alara are best friends who have dedicated their lives to being a hero. They have retrieved many lost items for the gods and were chosen as two of the best heroes in egypt. As they were walking home from school one day when they received a letter.
“I wonder who it’s from?” said Alara. Once they got home they read the letter together and immediately started to pack. They walked outside as yellow dust sprayed everywhere as they were summoned to Ra’s palace. Ra told them all about what needed to be done. Ra gave both of them a magical item that will help them during their journey. Ace got a map that showed where everyone was and Alara got a flask that held unlimited water. Ra told them one final thought,
“Anubis has a weak spot, the knuckle that is missing three fingers.” Ra exclaimed. They started their journey while going to get the key to the underworld. The key is located in the tomb of Anubis’ first self. They walked 17 miles until they were found to be in the middle of the desert a huge scorpion emerged from the ground.
They had no weapons to fight except a shovel so they ran. They ran as far as they could until Alara collapsed to the floor. Then a fire bolt came from the sky. Ra had saved them.
“Drink the water!” Ra said in a mysterious voice.
Thankfully the water saved Alara and walked to the tomb. The door was open and was easy to enter. They saw the key and ran. They had got the key! One room over was the doorway to the underworld. The key unlocked the room but a legendary beast beside them encaged but as soon as it saw them it broke the cage and came sprinting at them.
“A Manticore!” Yelled Ace. The gateway was right behind the manticore but how would they get to it? Bones, skeletons, and spiders hanging on the wall the realized there was an eagle that came screaming through the doorway. It was huge! It came down and grabbed them both in its huge talons and were thrown into the gateway. Standing there was Anubis with huge wings and a golden staff.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!” he boomed. Alara and Ace said nothing and started to run towards his weak spot, Anubis’ knuckle. Alara climbed up the stone wall and Ace started to distract Anubis. He led Anubis into the treasure room where Ace found a knife. He stabbed Anubis in the foot and a loud scream came from Anubis.
“Now!” Ace screamed as Alara jumped of the wall onto Anubis’ knuckle she took the shovel and stuck it into Anubis’ hand. Anubis screamed in pain and shrunk to the Size of a mouse. The staff came falling down and clanged on the floor. They took the staff! Ra summoned them back to his temple. He repaid them with fortunes and fortunes of gold.
