Bride of Glass (Brides of the Hunt Book 2)

Tripping, he shot forward, flying into the room, landing face first. Shaking himself out, he popped to his feet. “I’m b-” Noyel froze as he spotted Tokre holding baby number one. “Back?” he mumbled, shuffling dazedly towards the bed.
The baby let out another high-pitched wail, and my jolly, blue-eyed mate grinned. “Lungs on him. Fierce.”
“Strong,” Zhuii nodded, agreeing.
“A fine little warrior we’ll have on our hands.” Noyel leaned in. “Two sets of arms! Just like big sister.”
“Fellas,” I huffed and puffed, “hate to break up the moment, but, uh, we got another on the way.”
“My turn!” Noyel switched places with Tokre. He was excited, relieved at a chance to deliver at least one of his babies. “Clamp it off.” Noyel signed, handing Tokre a length of string and pointing at the umbilical cord. I delivered baby one’s placenta, readying for baby number two.
When the contractions picked up again, my eyes started to water, pricking from the pain.
“Ow. Ow. Ow. Oh, this is worse. This one’s worse. Zhuii.” My hands gripped his legs, fingers digging in. “Why does this time hurt so much more?”
“Zhuii,” the male grunted out in a high voice, “no,” groan, “know. Zhuii feel it this time, though,” he assured me. Tiny bald spots where there was once hair on his thigh, I had little tufts of blue and white mixed fur stuck to my fingers.
Tokre snickered, and I laughed, despite it all.
“Ah-Ah! Here we go, again…” I hissed suddenly, trying to remember how those blasted breathing technics were supposed to go. “Hee-hee, hoo-aaaaaargh! Aaaaaah-Heeeee-whyyyydoesithurtsofuckingmuuuuuch?!!” I bellowed.
“He’s big,” Noyel whispered, his eyes widening as a blue and white furry head started to crown. “And you’re so…small.”
“Arggh.” I had to bear down hard, hissing through gritted teeth as a little pumpkin head slowly popped free. “Fuckyouallyoufucking assholesandyour enormousheadsthishuu-Aaaaaaaarts!” I shrieked.
Wide little shoulders were next, until a little body slipped free and a tiny cry rent the air. It was a mewl of a cry, soft and plaintive, that tiny little voice the deepest I’d ever heard utter from such a tiny babe.
“Two arms, but look.” Zhuii’s face lit up with delight at the sight of that tiny little stub of a tail flicking wetly between the tiny baby’s legs.
“He smells like me,” Noyel said excitedly, trembling as he held his son in his arms for the very first time. His eyes welled and he cried out exuberantly, “He smells like me!”
“And Zhuii,” my big blue protector chuckled happily. “Tokre, Lindy-mine, Zhuii, Noyel, have babies. Big boys! All our babies,” he boasted, puffing up like a proud papa.
“So handsome, both of them,” I whispered, admiring both of my big baby boys, knowing there were still things to be tended to.
“Here,” Noyel blinked to clear his eyes, tying off baby number two’s cord to hand him off to Tokre, who cradled a baby in each arm, “let’s finish this up so my Rosie mate can hold her babies.”
“Please,” I mumbled tiredly, “and then let us never speak of this again.” Holding up my fur flocked fingers, I waggled them at my mates.
“Agreed.” Zhuii had everyone laughing at the conviction behind that word, his thick face bunching into a grimace at the tiny myriad of bald spots dotting his thick fur.

KEHKO’S BOYS
She was nervous, that much was obvious as she held the bigger of her new baby brothers.
“Small,” she observed, smiling sweetly into bright blue eyes. Her chubby little arms cradled her sibling like he was the most precious thing she’d ever beheld.
“What him name?”
“Well,” I glanced up from feeding baby number one, adjusting him in my arms, “we were thinking we’d like your help with that.”
“Weally?” Kehko’s little legs kicked back and forth excitedly along the side of the bed. “Kehko help name brubber?”
“Brothers,” I told her. “We’d like you to help us name them both.”
“Zhuel,” Kehko said proudly, without hesitation, giggling down into her little brother’s sweet little furry face.
“Zhuel?” I blinked. “Are you su-”
“Zhuii like,” my Zhubeast stated proudly.
“Zhuii and Noyel,” my blue-eyed healer agreed.
Tokre signed his agreement. Zhuii and Noyel, Zhuel. Smart little one. Tokre like it.
I didn’t have the heart to burst any bubbles, explaining why I balked at the name at first, about demon beast dogs, ghosts, and a monster marshmallow man. But I’m not on earth anymore, am I? And it was a strong, masculine name. “Zhuel it is.”
Kehko chortled happily. “My Zhuel-y-zoo-zoo-baby.”
“And for him?” I asked, stroking my hand lovingly over the hungry little fella suckling away.
“Mmm…” Kehko’s little face bunched. “Him…Tohkrii.”
Again, another round of agreement.
I wondered if they’d agree to anything their little princess suggested, but the names were fitting and I too agreed.
“Happy birthday, Zhuel and Tohkrii,” I sang softly, “happy birthday to you.”
“Welcome to Kehko family!” Kehko cried out with glee. When her new brother started to fuss, she had everyone chuckling when she gasped, quieting, and started hushing everyone. She had the same loud whisper as Zhuii, which just made it even cuter.
“Happy?” Noyel asked, coming up beside me.
Zhuii’s hand went to my shoulder and his purr rumbled his chest.
Tokre signed at Kehko, gushing over the babies with her.
Mine, she told her Pop-pop, carefully lifting her lower left arm to sign, my chuchbuhs, but Kehko share.
My body ached in funny places and I’d basically just popped a watermelon and a pumpkin-watermelon hybrid outta my hoo-hah. I was sticky with sweat and to an extent bodily fluids, my hair was plastered to my forehead, itchy from it, and I could barely keep my eyes open
“Deliriously,” I whispered.
