Jacob's Sweet Temptation

Page 2

by Angela Franklin

“Gotta go, it’s my turn to make lunch.” Luke said getting up to pay for his food. “I’ll see you later.” He said hugging her before he left.

Chasity went back to her kitchen and began baking again. She had plenty out front, but it soothed her. She found herself completely lost in the baking and the music a while later when Tina came in again. At first she just raised her eyebrows and watched her, but when Chasity saw her she busted out laughing.

“You okay boss?” Tina asked her, confusion written all over her face.

“Yeah, I’m good.” Chasity answered as she tried to calm herself.

“Okay, well when you get a chance someone is asking for you.” Tina replied and walked back out.

“Luke, I already gave you…” Chasity said as she walked out, only to stop short when she saw who was there. “Um, what are you doing here?” Chasity asked as she resisted the urge to run back to the kitchen.

“Luke said this was the best place, and after the bear claw he gave me yesterday, I had to have some.” Jacob smiled at her.

“So then why did you ask for me?” Chasity asked feeling snarky already.

“He said when you weren’t busy, you would sit and talk a minute. I thought if you needed the break you could talk to me.” Jacob said shrugging.

“I actually have a lot to get done.” Chasity said looking at her hands so he couldn’t see her lie.

“No you don’t, we have double what we normally sale.” Tina said giving her a confused look.

“Tina, why don’t you sit and talk with him since you feel the need to talk.” Chasity told her and stomped into the kitchen.

She turned up her radio much louder than she knew she should, but she did not want to even hear herself think right now. She was supposed to be safe here. He had never come here before. There was no reason he should be here. Chasity was going to kill Luke, he had no right sending Jacob here. He could have at least warned her. She went back to baking so she was too busy to think. Not very mature behavior, but it was working for her.

“Well, I have no idea what’s gotten into her.” Tina told Jacob shaking her head.

“I think I just surprised her.” Jacob said watching the door smiling.

“I have never seen her behave that way.” Tina said as she put another bear claw in front of him.

“I seem to have that effect on her.” Jacob said as he ate what she had brought him.

“Whatever you did, I wouldn’t recommend doing it again. She can be kinda violent if you get on her bad side.” Tina warned him, as the door chimed. “Hey Taylor, Chasity is in a mood and she is in the back.” She told her turning back to him.

“Thanks Tina.” Taylor said walking back. She had barely opened the door before she turned and walked over to their table. “What happened to her?” She asked.

“I’m afraid that is my fault.” Jacob said as he finished his pastry.

“What did you do to cause that?” Taylor asked waving a hand toward the kitchen.

“I’m not really sure, but she wasn’t happy with me last night and then she stomped in there when I came in today,” Jacob told her.

“Hasn’t anyone told you she isn’t the one you want to upset.” Tina asked him.

“I didn’t try to get on her bad side. I’m not even sure how I did. I thought if I came by and talked to her today I could fix whatever went wrong.” Jacob told them honestly.

“I don’t think that is working very well so far.” Taylor said raising her eyebrows.

“She has been baking like mad since I got here today. She only took a break for Luke.” Tina told them.

“Luke said they weren’t dating or anything. Why does she always take time to talk to him?” Jacob asked feeling a little jealous.

“She usually just sits while he talks or eats, or they pick on each other. Today he seemed worried about her. I guess he could hear the music, but it was a lot quieter than it is now.” Tina said glaring at the kitchen door.

“Maybe I should go talk to her.” Taylor said getting up.

“Actually, I think I should since it’s my fault.” Jacob said grinning.

“Why do I have a feeling this isn’t such a good idea?” Tina asked looking at Taylor.

“Why do I have a feeling he’s having way to much fun with this?” Taylor asked.

“Ya’ll worry too much. If there is screaming I wouldn’t worry, but if you hear a gunshot, please call an ambulance.” Jacob said getting up.

“Yeah cause that means she shot you, you idiot.” Taylor said to his retreating back.

“Think we should lock up, so no one else hears this?” Tina asked her.

“Fine, but I’m sticking around for the fireworks.” Taylor said. That was the last thing he heard as he walked into the kitchen.

Jacob walked in and just stood in the door for a minute. God, she was beautiful. Her hair pulled back with flour hand prints on her butt, and smudged across her face. She was swinging her hips with the music and he was entranced by the sight. She was singing along to the music and keeping her back to him. She had no idea he was there. For now, she was carefree and enjoying her time. This is why he had stayed away from her. She was all things beautiful and perfect to him. He was tired of staying away from her, after her crashing into him and him getting to feel her in his arms, he was determined to make her his.

Slowly Jacob crept up to her. He noticed the way her hair was slowly falling out of it confines, and how her jeans were stretched tight across her butt. He could imagine how his hands would feel in her back pockets as he kissed her. Jacob had always had short flings, never relationships. He knew he could never be what anyone needed, his job was dangerous and he didn’t want to put anyone through it if something went wrong, but he couldn’t keep himself from her anymore. Just as he got close enough to touch her, she turned coming up flush against him, and screamed.

“I really like your way of greeting me.” Jacob said holding her close.

“What are you doing back here? Get out.” Chasity said her eyes spitting fire at him.

“I just wanted to check on you, but this is much better.” Jacob smiled down at her.

“You shouldn’t be back here.” Chasity glared up at him.

“So you say, but your body says different.” Jacob replied as her hand began to rub his chest.

“What are you talking about?” She asked him confused. Jacob looked down and she followed his gaze. “Oh, sorry.” She jerked her hands back and tried to pull away.

“You can touch me anytime, anywhere sweet Chassy.” Jacob said not letting her go.

“Did you just call me a car part?” She asked him furious.

“No my sweet, that is a chassis. But you are close. You definitely have a nice frame.” Jacob told her laughing.

“Now you are going to call me fat!” Chasity yelled and tried to knee him.

“That wasn’t what I said and that wasn’t very nice.” Jacob said giving her a stern look. “I said you have a nice frame.” He squeezed her hips for emphasis, then pulled her closer. “I don’t ever want to hear you say that again.”

“I didn’t say that, you implied it. I am perfect.” Chasity huffed at him.

“Yes, you certainly are.” Jacob whispered in her ear, taking in the vanilla scent that surrounded her.

“You really need to leave.” She said pushing against him again.

“Why would I want to leave, I have you in my arms?” Jacob flashed his dimples knowing most women gave in at the sight of them. He should have known she wasn’t most women.

“I have a business to run and things to do.” Chasity told him curtly.

“I heard Tina say she was going to lock the doors in case this got noisy.” Jacob replied tracing circles on her lower back. He could see that it affected her, but she was trying to fight it.

“All the more reason for you to go. You are causing me to lose business.” Chasity told him pulling back again.

  “Very well sweet
Chassy, but I will be back.” Jacob said. He watched her eyes as he leaned in close. He really wanted to kiss her, but knew that may cause him bodily harm, so he pressed a lingering kiss to her cheek. “I will see you again soon.” He whispered to her before pulling away.

Jacob slowly let his hands rub across her hips as he pulled away. He could see the conflict in her eyes. She was affected by him, but she didn’t want to be. Her own struggle was what was making her angry. He could wait her out. She was worth every second of the wait, but he didn’t like to see her so upset.

“Ladies, I believe it is safe to unlock the doors. Ya’ll have a good day.” Jacob told them as he walked out of the bakery.

He licked his lips as he got into his truck. He could taste her sweet skin on his lips. She was so soft and tasted of the vanilla he could smell on her. He would always love vanilla. It suited her, she had to be as sweet as the treats she baked.

Chasity had no idea what just happened. Her head was spinning. She really wanted to say he didn’t matter, but her body was on fire. How stupid could she be? She knew he only did one night stands, the whole town knew it, but she couldn’t stop how her body tingled when he was near. She was sure he was going to kiss her, but kissing her cheek was worse. Now she was hot and bothered and, for once, she didn’t want to be in the kitchen.

“When did you get here?” Chasity asked as she walked out.

“Before Mr. Hot stuff went back to talk to you.” Taylor said giving her a knowing look.

  “Who?” Chasity asked confused.

“The Chief, who else you been back there with?” Tina asked laughing at her.

“Don’t even start. That man is infuriating. I have no idea why he showed up here. Tina why did you let him back?” Chasity asked her glaring.

“From the look in his eyes the Pope wouldn’t have stopped him.” Tina said laughing. “So are you dating him?”

“What? No of course not. Why would you think that?” Chasity could feel the heat in her cheeks.

“That blush for one, but he has never been here before. I didn’t even realize you knew him.” Tina replied.

“I grew up here, of course I know him. We just never talk, but I ran into him last night at Callie’s, literally.” Chasity told them.

“That’s right, he was at Luke’s get together. What do you mean literally?” Taylor asked her. “You were upstairs with us all night.”

“Before ya’ll got there, and after ya’ll left. As I walked in I ran into him and then when I came down to help clean up. Then he had the nerve to come in my kitchen and sneak up on me.” Chasity said as she paced back and forth waving her hands in the air.

“So you have a way of ending up in his arms.” Taylor said with a smirk.

“Yes, wait no. Oh shut up. He’s an arrogant ass!” Chasity said as she flopped down in the booth.

“But a very hot one.” Taylor relied smiling.

“Who has slept with a lot of women and only has one night stands.” Chasity told her glaring again.

“I wouldn’t mind a one night stand with him. Maybe that’s what you need to get passed whatever this is.” Tina told her honestly.

“First of all, he is too old for you, and second I just want him to leave me alone.” Chasity told them shaking her head.

“Then that is the perfect way to go about it. After he sleeps with someone, he never speaks to them again.” Taylor said as if that made perfect sense.

“So you want me to sleep with him, have you lost your mind?” Chasity asked her. “He called me Chassy and said I have a “nice frame”. You really think I should sleep with him after that?” Both Tina and Taylor laughed.

“He would leave you alone if you did.” Taylor replied.

“You know what, I am going to go see my sister and leave you crazy people here.” Chasity said as she stomped out the door.

How could they think sleeping with him would be a good idea? He would get bored or find someone else to sleep with soon and leave her alone. She wasn’t in the mood to be alone, so she went to see Callie. When she pulled up she didn’t see anyone so she went on in and up the stairs.

“Callie, it has been a long day and I need to vent.” Chasity said as she walked in the room only to stop when she saw Chase laying on the bed with her and rubbing her stomach. “I’m so sorry, I’ll come back tomorrow.” She said as turned to leave.

“No, it’s okay. I need to check on the horses anyways.” Chase said as he kissed Callie and walked by her.

“I’m so sorry Callie. I should have thought before I came up here. I didn’t mean to interrupt your time with him.” Chasity told her sister as she sat on the bed.

“I knew you were coming. It’s no big deal. He came in to check on me.” Callie told her.

“How did you know I was coming?” Chasity asked her confused.

“Taylor called me.” Callie told her.

“Great. Just great.” Chasity said annoyed.

“So she was right and you’re in a bad mood.” Callie laughed.

“It’s just not been a good day and I didn’t sleep well last night.” Chasity tried to shrug it off.

“Yeah, wanna tell me the whole truth this time?” Callie asked her.

“I’m fine really. Just need to relax.” Chasity said with a small smile.

“How about you tell me about Jacob?” Callie said raising her eyebrows.

“Nothing to tell. He is getting on my nerves and that’s pretty much it.” Chasity said looking away.

“So you don’t want to talk about how you keep ending up in his arms?” Callie asked laughing.

“Oh gees, she told you everything.” Chasity shook her head and looked at her hands.

“Yeah, except what you are actually thinking about this. Talk to me, I don’t watch soaps, so this can be my drama outlet.” Callie told her.

“I wish he would leave me alone. He had never even come in Sweetastics till today. There is no reason for him to show up now.” Chasity said as she leaned back to lay on the bed.

“Maybe Luke needed him to come by and get his bear claws.” Callie shrugged and rubbed her belly.

“Luke came and got his earlier. He talked to me for a while, then I went back to my baking.” Chasity said shaking her head.

“Then I got nothing. What did he say to you?” Callie asked her.

“Well not much really. He called me Chassy. Can you believe that. He said I had a “nice frame”. Jack ass.” Chasity said still fuming over that.

“Isn’t that a car part?” Callie asked her confused.

“I asked the same thing. He said no, that was a chassis. I told you I have no idea what he thinks he’s doing.” Chasity told her burying her face in the blankets.

“Maybe he likes you.” Callie said simply.

“Yeah, sure. Jacob only has one night stands and never talks to them again.” Chasity told her.

“Would that be so bad? I mean he is hot, and I know it’s been awhile.” Callie asked her.

“Seriously, you are on board with this whole sleep with him and get it over with thing too?” Chasity asked her shocked.

“If you want him to leave you alone why not? I mean like you said he never speaks to them again, so he’d stop bothering you.” Callie said as if it was the most logical thing in the world.

“I’m sure he will get bored soon. I don’t need to lower myself to be a booty call.” Chasity told her.

“You could never be a booty call, but there’s nothing wrong with using him as your own toy for a night.” Callie told her. “Why not take what you want for once?”

“I’m not that desperate yet. I’m sure he will be gone in a day or two. Now, you need to rest, and I’m exhausted so I’m going home and to bed.” Chasity told her as she kissed her cheek and left the room.

“Chasity, did you bring me more bear claws?” Luke called as she got to the bottom of the stairs.

“No, I gave you yours when you came by earlier.” Callie said as she
walked in the living room.

“I was looking forward to a snack.” Luke said as he walked over to her. “I think you might want to go home now.”

“You can’t boss me around, but you have never told me to leave, so what’s going on?” Chasity asked him confused.

“I have a friend coming over.” Luke told her shrugging.

“I don’t care who you date. Why would that mean I have to leave?” Chasity asked him.

“It’s not a girl.” Luke told her.

“Hell, you could have told me you were into men.” Chasity said rolling her eyes.

“No! Jacob is coming over to hang out, and I definitely prefer women. Callie being on bed rest brings plenty here.” Luke said with a smile.

“Love ya, gotta go!” Chasity said as she spun to open the door, and ran smack into the one person she was trying to avoid. “Damn.”

“So we meet again my sweet Chassy.” Jacob said pulling her close again.

“Oh hell. I gotta go.” Chasity said as she tried to pull away.

“Hey Jacob. Chasity was getting ready to head home. Come on in, I’ll grab us a couple beers.” Luke said and turned to the kitchen.

“I do believe we should be polite and have a seat.” Jacob whispered in her ear before picking her up.

“What do you think you are doing?” Chasity asked as he picked her up. “Put me down.”

“Just as soon as we get to the couch.” Jacob said smiling down at her.

“I’m serious put me down or I will scream.” Chasity said and smacked his chest. Jacob pretended to drop her and she wrapped her arms around his neck to keep from falling.

“That’s much better.” Jacob said as he went to sit on the couch, and sat her on his lap.

“Great, we are on the couch so let me go.” Chasity said narrowing her eyes at him.

“No, I don’t think I will. I like you being in my lap.” Jacob smiled down at her.

“You’re being a pig. Let me go!” Chasity demanded.

“But you fit so perfectly in my arms and on my lap.” Jacob said as he pulled her closer.

“I warned you.” Chasity whispered, then she screamed, loud.

“What the hell is going on in here?” Luke said as he came flying in the room.
