The Rescuer

“Steering, love. Now let’s see if we can discover just who has come to visit?” He tapped a few keys and the image sharpened and zoomed in.
Lila scowled. “Why didn’t you show me how to do that?” she demanded. “It could have been important.”
Euan took one look at her worried face and bit back the retort he’d been about to make. “I honestly didn’t think of it,” he said sincerely. “It was only when we both started to squint I remembered about it. Shall we squint a bit more?”
“Why not? Do you recognize anyone?” Lila asked in a strange voice. “It’s only supposed to be a few people who come here, isn’t it?”
Euan nodded. “Everyone is checked and double-checked and I get a list. No one else.” He watched the boat dock. “That’s Jenna, but…” He paused and looked closely at the screen. “I have no idea who that is with her. Never seen him, never seen a picture, no name, nothing.”
“I know who it is,” Lila said in a strangled voice. “But why is he here?”
“Who is it?” Euan asked, arrested by her tone. “What’s wrong, love?”
“You are definitely sure you don’t know him?” Lila persisted.
“Very definitely, although it seems Jenna does.” The couple were exchanging a passionate kiss. The man’s hands were on Jenna’s ass and she was pressed hard against him, her hands holding his head close to hers.
Euan whistled. “I feel like a peeping Tom.”
“I know what you mean. We’ll need a fan next to cool us down.”
Or I’ll throw you on to the desk and fuck you senseless. Down boy, Euan admonished himself. Not the time or the place.
As he watched the screen, the couple in view separated slowly. Jenna began to walk up the path toward the main building. The man headed in the opposite direction,
“It seems I do as well. Know him, I mean.”
Euan looked at Lila more intently. She was ashen.
“Lila? Love, tell me. How come?”
“That’s Rod. The doctor who works with me.”
