“Don’t think we’re going to fall for that again,” Rowen warned him.

  “Fall for what?” Reed asked, looking back up at the kissing bough, getting that same feeling of love spreading through his body once again, as if his mother were kissing him on the head. His heart opened that day and filled with the love that he never knew he could hold for someone he had never known. “Happy birthday, Brathairs,” said Reed, slapping Rowen and Rook on their backs and heading over to the dais where the rest of the family awaited them.   With family present, it wasn’t long before sadness turned into happiness once more, even on the Feast Day of the Holy Innocents which was once considered a day of ill luck.
