Rebelling Rogue

Page 9

by E. C. Land

We’re met by nothing but silence throughout the house. Going up to the second floor, I peer into one room and stop short. There in the middle of a twin bed, is a decomposed corpse of what has to be a little boy. He couldn’t be more than nine years old.

“Please tell me we didn’t walk into the set of some horror flick?” Gunner snarks, eyeing the body of the corpse.

Shaking my head, I leave the room. Who the hell does this shit? Leave a kid just lying there, dead. Even worse is the way they have him laid like he’s just sleeping and not dead.

Walking out of the room, I make my way further down the hall to another room. Pushing the door open, it’s all I can do to keep from throwing up.

I don’t even bother stepping into the room. I can see the reason for the stench sitting in the middle of the room, tied to a chair already starting to decompose. But the body is still identifiable.

  “Is that?” Gunner asks.

“Yep, that’s Walton. From the looks of it, he’s been dead for a couple months,” I say, covering my nose to block out the foul smell of decaying bodies.

“Shit. What kinda sick fuck have we walked into? This is some Carrie kinda shit here.” Gunner groans.

“Rogue, Gunner, where the hell are you?” Malice roars through the house.

“Upstairs,” I yell back and head for the last door dreading what I’m about to find. Using my foot, I kick the door slightly and gag.

  Motherfucker.

You have to be some sadistic piece of shit to do that. In the middle of the room, Judge Raymond is hanging from the ceiling fan. But worse, his legs are on the floor.

“VP, you ain’t gonna want to be up here. This shit is sick,” Gunner calls out to Malice.

“I don’t need to be told. I can smell it already,” Malice says, covering his mouth.

Shaking my head, I look to my VP as he joins Gunner and me. Axe and a few other brothers are behind him. All of them looking a shade of green at the smell.

“Bitch has my woman, and they ain’t here.”

“Where else could she have taken Rebel?” Malice asks, looking behind me to see the remains of the Judge. “Damn, I was hoping to get a shot at killing the motherfucker. He’s tried many times to get me sent to prison on some mishap or another.”

“Yeah, well, it looks like his daughter is clearly out of her fuckin’ mind. I’m guessing it’s her kid in the other room that’s nothing but a corpse,” I say, shaking my head and starting for the stairs. “I gotta get out of this house before I puke.”

Stalking out of the house, I think about where the hell Sabrina would take Rebel.

Every time she’s left a message for me, it’s all but said she wants me to find her. But where? All of a sudden, it hits me—the high school.

Fuck. If I’m right, this bitch wants me to come back to where this all started ten years ago.

  Chapter Eighteen

  Rebel

Groaning, I roll my head from side to side.

Why am I hurting so much?

Opening my eyes, I find myself sitting on the floor tied to a cement column in the middle of a room.

  Where the hell am I?

Memories come flooding back, and I jerk my head up straight, coming face-to-face with a woman I haven’t seen in years. It’s because of her, Rogue and I broke up ten years ago.

  Sabrina Raymond-Walton.

Honestly, I thought she’d moved away. I remember her being a cheerleader for the school and popular.

Why the hell did she do this to me?

“Oh look, the slutty whore who ruined my life is awake,” Sabrina sneers, waving a gun in my direction.

“What do you want with me?” I demand, trying to fight my bindings.

“I’ve already told you what I want. I told you. Plenty of times,” she spits and starts pacing. “You ruin everything. I thought you learned your lesson years ago. He’s mine. He’s always been mine. Why did you have to come back in the picture, huh? You’re nothing and never were. I don’t know why Xander couldn’t see it back then. I told him. Over and over again. I told him. You weren’t worth it. He had our little boy and me. He was happy. Why did you ruin everything?”

I stay silent during Sabrina’s rant.

  This chick has lost it.

“Oh well, it doesn’t matter anymore. After today, I won’t have to worry about you or anyone else for that matter keeping Rogue from me,” she says, stopping to give me a sadistic smile. Lifting the gun in her hand, Sabrina pulls the trigger—hitting me in the leg.

I scream out in agony. The pain in my leg is excruciating.

Tears well in my eyes as I stare up at Sabrina to find her laughing hysterically. “Yes, he’s going to be mine, and this time I won’t let him get away. We’ll be happy again. Once he sees me kill you, he’ll know I’m the one for him. He’ll know it.”

  Oh. My. God.

The woman isn’t just delusional. She’s downright insane.

Sabrina continues muttering to herself as she moves over to the side of the room. She places the gun on a table and starts fidgeting with something.

Squinting, I begin to panic as I recognize it for what it is—a bomb.

  This definitely isn’t good.

Does she plan to kill us all?

  Rogue

Pulling into the school, I’m thankful it’s the weekend, and I don’t have to worry about anyone getting in the way. I park and head for the school’s doors. I reach into the holster under my cut and pull out my gun.

Shooting the locks off the door to the school, I swing it open.

“Brother, what are you planning?” Axe asks, walking next to me.

“Find the bitch and get my woman back before she kills her. I’m not about to lose her and our kid,” I snarl, debating where Sabrina might have taken Rebel.

“Right, so where do you think she is?” The sound of my Prez’s voice coming up behind me doesn’t surprise me. He wouldn’t miss out on the action.

“I’m thinking since she’s going all horror chick, what about the boiler room or basement?” Gunner suggests.

  The basement.

They used to keep all the theatre stuff down there.

“We’ll check there,” I state and head in that direction.

Getting to the door, we could hear someone talking.

  Bingo.

  We’ve found the bitch.

Throwing the door open, I rush down the stairs and quickly take in the scene in front of me. Rebel is tied to a beam, blood seeping from her leg. Sabrina’s reaching for her gun when she sees me. Her eyes brighten as she smiles at me.

“You came. I knew you’d come,” she says, “Now we can be together again. I can’t express how much I love you. Not without showing you.”

What the hell is wrong with this bitch?

“Brother, that’s a bomb right next to her,” Hammer whispers quietly.

  Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

We’ve gotta get this shit done and get Rebel out of here.

“Get her away from it, and I’ll see if I can stop it,” Gunner growls and slowly makes his way in that direction without drawing Sabrina’s attention to him.

“You get Rebel, I’ll take her down,” Malice says, and I nod in confirmation. I’d get my woman.

This little showdown should be interesting.

I look over to Rebel and find her face isn’t filled with fear right now. It’s filled with hatred and anger.

“Don’t look at her,” Sabrina snaps, drawing my attention to her.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I demand, stepping closer to Rebel.

Sabrina shifts her body, keeping hers facing me the entire time.

The moment Malice has the opportunity, he takes it.

Everything seems to happen all at once.

Hammer and I move to Rebel. We untie her while Malice makes sure that Sabrina is immobilized.

“You okay, baby?” I ask, lifting her into my arms.

“Yes, can we please get out o
f here?” she asks.

“We’re gonna have to. This bomb is a piece of work. I don’t know where she got it from, but we’ve got five minutes before it blows.” Gunner says, standing over by the bomb.

“What should we do with her?” Malice asks.

Normally we don’t hurt women, though I’m seriously tempted to do so right now.

“Chain her to the beam,” Rebel orders before anyone can say anything else.

“You heard her,” Hammer snarls. This situation can’t be easy for him, but it’s Rebel who was hurt more times than we can count by Sabrina. Meaning it’s her call.

Axe and Gunner quickly get Sabrina tied to the beam before all of us make a run for it.

  Rebel

We barely make it out of the building.

I can’t believe how close we all came to dying today.

Never in my life did I think I might get blown up. Then again, I didn’t think I’d have a stalker either.

Leaving the school, the guys take me to the hospital where Gunner’s sister, Honor, is waiting for us. I don’t know how she does it, but no one asks about the bullet wound I’ve received. But I can see the way the doctor is looking at her, and I’m sure I can take a guess. He’s either sleeping with her or wants to.

Once they’d removed the bullet and patched me up, I’m free to go. Well after I had made a fuss. I didn’t want to stay in the hospital if I could do the same thing at home under the supervision of my man.

  Thank God.

All I want to do is go home and sleep.

“You sure you’re okay, Duchess?” Rogue asks, cupping the side of my face.

I give him a reassuring smile and nod. “I’m more than okay because it’s over.”

“Yeah, it’s over, baby, and now you’re all mine.” He grins and leans forward, pressing his lips to mine. “Let’s get you home now.”

“Hmm, yes, please, and can we order some TJ’s Noodles? I’m starving.”

Rogue chuckles and hugs me again. “Anything you want.”

Smiling, I wrap my arms around him. “I love you.”

  “Love you too, Duchess.”

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing those words come out of his mouth. We lost ten years, because of Sabrina being a lunatic. Now she’s gone, and we can finally move on and not worry about the past.

We’ve got our future to look forward to, and it all starts now.

  Epilogue

  Rogue

  One Month Later . . .

After everything Rebel and I have gone through in the past ten years. Being separated, because of some psycho sadistic bitch who couldn’t be more delusional. Then me nearly dying before we could truly be together again. To think I could’ve lost her and our baby both, because of this whole mess. As it is, we all barely made it out of the school that day in time.

I’ll never forget the sight of her tied to that concrete beam. Or the blood seeping from her.

Finding out everything about Sabrina after the shitshow she created, we’d learned she went off her meds when she shouldn’t have. She had thought her kid was mine this whole time. How the fuck was it even possible—I’ve never touched her.

Luckily Rebel and our baby ended up being okay. The bullet in Rebel’s leg was easily removed. Sabrina evidently had shitty aim, because she attempted to shoot my woman while at her office but ended up shooting at the floor.

I don’t know what happened there. I’m just fuckin’ elated Rebel wasn’t killed.

Today we’re celebrating Malice and Willow’s triplets’ birthday with a BBQ at the clubhouse. It’s hard to believe that those three are getting so big already. Gavin and Gates are the spitting image of each other, while Gemini is one of the most beautiful little girls I’ve ever seen.

The other beautiful little girl is sitting across from my woman at a picnic table—Delilah. She’s Gunner’s little girl and sweet as all get out.

I’ve heard the ol’ ladies talking about how she looks so much like her mom. I’ve gotta agree with them. It just sucks she won’t get to see her mom again. The good thing is she’s got her dad now, and that man is wrapped around her little finger.

Making my way to Rebel’s table, I’m balancing two plates of food, a beer, and a bottle of water as I go.

While at the hospital the day everything went down, we’d found out how far along Rebel is. Pride swells in me to think about the fact that I knocked her up that first time we were together again. Yesterday we went to the doctor, and they’d asked if we wanted to find out what we were having. I left the decision to my woman. I don’t care either way. Boy or girl, this kid is a part of her and me both.

Rebel went with us not finding out. She wants to be surprised when the day comes.

“Here you go, Duchess,” I say, getting her attention as I get close enough with her food.

“Thank you, I’m starving,” she declares, eyeing the BBQ ribs on her plate.

“Me too,” Delilah says loudly and looks around for Gunner, and yells. “Daddy, I’m hungry.”

Gunner glances over and gives Delilah a grin. “Come here, pipsqueak, and tell me what you want.”

Delilah spins on the bench and jumps down. She quickly runs to her dad and jumps in his arms.

“She’s adorable,” Rebel announces, picking up her fork.

Putting my plate down next to hers, I straddle the bench and sit facing Rebel. “Yeah, she is.”

Rebel takes a couple bites of food before wiping her mouth and twisting to gaze at me. “So, I have a confession to make.”

“Okay, what is it?” I ask, eyeing her cautiously. I know my woman, and this could mean anything right about now.

“Well, I called the doctor’s office yesterday afternoon while you were in the garage doing something. I changed my mind and found out what we’re having.” She smiles sweetly as she informs me of this news.

“And what did you find out?” I quirk a brow, my full attention on her when Gunner and Delilah rejoin us.

Rebel leans her body against my chest and lays her head on my shoulder. “Girl.”

  Oh fuck.

“You serious right now?” I demand quietly

  We’re gonna have a girl.

Warmth flows through me, and I wrap my arms around Rebel. “Fuckin’ love you, Duchess.”

“Daddy, Uncle Rogue said a bad word,” Delilah pipes loudly, gaining our attention. I chuckle at the sight of BBQ sauce all over her face.

“It’s okay, baby, but you know the rules. Princess doesn’t use that language,” Gunner states, cleaning his little girl’s face.

Delilah nods and goes back to eating.

Gunner turns back to face us and grins. “Congrats on the girl.”

  “Thanks.” I nod.

The two of us are talking when suddenly something behind me catches his eye, and he pales.

  What the fuck?

Glancing behind me, my mouth nearly drops to the ground at the sight of the woman walking slowly in our direction.

  Holy shit.

  It can’t be.

  There’s no way in hell.

But Gunner confirms it in the next second, “Zinnia.”

Shit, I know all hell’s about to break loose all over again.

  Dear Readers,

Thank you for reading Rebelling Rogue. I do hope you enjoyed their story as much as I loved writing it. I can’t wait for you all to get Remaining Gunner’s. Gunner’s book will be coming out sometime after the first of next year.

But don’t worry, I have more coming your way this year!

  Sincerely,

  E.C.
