The Teague Bride Experiment (Intergalactic Dating Agency)

The Yatur sent a spaceship to Earth with a seemingly simple exchange. They would provide humans with advancements in technology for medical and scientific purposes, and the only thing humans had to give in return were women.

When outdoor adventure blogger, Daliya Prince, is chosen to mate with an alien, she is ecstatic to begin this new chapter in her life. But an unexpected death made her face a harsh ultimatum. She had one month to find a new mate or one would be assigned to her.

With a grumpy enforcer watching her back and strange calls from a stalker, Daliya must quickly decide who she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

Despite not having the money and connections that his rich friends had, Cohn Achene has worked his way up in the Teague Security Agency to be a top enforcer. He always put duty above his own wants and needs, including taking a mate. When he’s given the task to watch over an unmated human female, he wonders what he could’ve done to deserve such a lowly assignment.

The more time Cohn spends with Daliya, the more he enjoys her company. Can Cohn give her up to someone who isn’t deserving of her or will he find a way to keep Daliya as his own?

  Chapter One

“Good morning. We trust that you have had a restful and peaceful slumber. Please take your time to sit up and re-orient to your surroundings. Once you have your bearings, exit your stasis chamber and return to your assigned quarters where additional instructions will be provided.”

Daliya Prince blinked herself awake slowly. One second she was counting down from ten in an effort to combat the growing anxiety of being locked in a stasis chamber that resembled a glass coffin, and the next she was staring at the see-through pane above her, wondering where the hell she was.

Blinking a few more times, she half-listened to the recorded message looping through the speakers next to her head. Memories of the last few days trickled to the forefront of her mind.

She’d been chosen for the Teague Bride Program.

Daliya had signed up, completed the necessary blood work and the physical. After almost six months of silence regarding her the application she’d submitted voluntarily, she’d finally received her acceptance letter and was given one day to get her affairs in order.

Her parents hadn’t known she’d signed up because she didn’t want to worry them unnecessarily. So, that conversation went well. Not!

Neither had wanted her to go, but it had been too late to back out. Not that she would have.

According to the Homeland Security Agent, her name was on the list and she was going to Teague, a small cold world on the other side of the galaxy, whether she liked it or not.

Pushing down her anxiety and second thoughts, she’d given her worldly possessions to her sisters then had one last family gathering at her parents’ house. Bright and early the next morning, she hopped a government plane to Egypt and boarded a spaceship.

  A real spaceship.

Of course, finding out the quick jaunt across the galaxy would actually take two hundred Earth years took her by surprise. Information the government authorities definitely should have mentioned.

Daliya had laid in the stasis chamber knowing that when she woke, everyone she knew and loved would be dead and long gone.

  The recording looped yet again.

Pain and longing spread across her chest. What had she thought? That she’d travel to an alien planet and still get to have her Sunday calls with her parents or pow wow video chats with her sisters?

  Delusional. That’s what she’d been.

She’d seen this as a new adventure and signed up without thinking the consequences through. It was similar to the time she’d taken a twenty-one-day cruise down the Amazon River by herself on a whim.

Actually, this wasn’t like that at all. At least then she’d been able to talk to her family on the satellite phone the captain had.

I guess I should get up now. No use prolonging.

The glass covering slid to the side as if sensing her thoughts and Daliya sat up. She was in a large room filled with thousands of stasis chambers. Other women were slowly waking as well.

Expressions ranged from dazed and confused to downright fearful. A few were already up, walking around and stretching their legs.

With nervous flutters in her stomach, Daliya glanced around, hoping to see a familiar face. Her gaze landed on Jasmine, the new friend she’d made while standing in line to board the ship. As if on cue, Jasmine turned and spotted Daliya.

Jasmine was a ray of bubbly sunshine. Her bright red hair swayed about her shoulders as she skirted through the crowd and made her way over. She did a little jig when she drew near. “We made it! We’re alive!”

Daliya climbed over the side of her stasis chamber. She’d never been body conscious, but if she was, the white mesh panty and bra set would’ve made her feel a certain way. Her business was out there for everyone to see. And by business she meant the hairy mess between her legs. She had two hundred years of unencumbered pubic hair growth.

“As soon as I get a hold of a razor, I’m getting to work,” she grumbled under her breath. She blinked a few more times as her gaze wandered down her brown and now very muscular legs. “Wait. Are these muscle, muscles?”

She’d always been lean with a hint of muscle, but this… Daliya flexed her legs and a thigh muscle popped into place, making her look like a body builder.

Whoa, girl. I see you!” Jasmine said.

“I know, right?” Daliya replied, still focused on her legs. “It’s like I had leg day for the past two hundred years.”

Jasmine turned around and flexed. She used both thumbs to point at her pale, taut butt. “Look at this baby. I always wanted a butt and now I have one!”

Daliya twisted to look at her butt. Caramel skin that could use lotion was tight over a round, high ass. “It’s marvelous.”

Jasmine gave Daliya’s butt a smack. “Yeah, it is.”

Both women fell into a fit of giggles. Remembering Jasmine’s earlier comment, Daliya frowned. “Wait, what do you mean, that we’re alive? Was dying an option?”

Jasmine played with a lock of healthy and strong hair which appeared longer than when she’d gotten into the stasis chamber. Against her alabaster skin, the vibrant strands and newly acquired blonde streaks stood out.

Daliya touched her own hair. She’d gotten into the stasis chamber with a shaved head. Now, her hair was a tangled mess down to her butt. She ran a hand over the length. Her hair had never grown this long. Not because it couldn’t, but because she’d never let it.

Who had time to fuss with hair while on a new adventure? Not Daliya. She preferred short hair while cruising down the Amazon, exploring the Saalfeld Fairy Grottoes in Germany, climbing The Matterhorn in Switzerland or her favorite past time, hiking in Arizona.

“I dunno.” Jasmine shrugged. “A lot could’ve happened over two hundred years.”

Daliya shuddered. There’d been so many things on her mind when she’d climbed into the stasis chamber, mainly thoughts of her family not being around when she woke. She hadn’t thought about not waking up.

Jasmine looped her arm around Daliya’s. “But let’s not think about any of that. Let’s get some food. I. Am. Famished.”

Jasmine turned them around to head toward the exit. As they turned, they bumped into another woman, admiring a killer set of abs.

Daliya reached out and caught the woman as she staggered back. “Sorry!”

Light brown skin similar to Daliya’s gleamed with a healthy sheen. The other woman’s hair rained down in a wild shower of curls and waves in a variety of auburn hues that instantly made Daliya jealous.

“It’s my fault. I think I stumbled into you,” she said after catching her balance.

“We’re heading to the mess hall. Do you want to come?” Jasmine asked.

A loud gurgle came from the woman’s stomach, causing them all too laugh. She cradled her solid mid-section and offered a wry grin. “I should but I have to go to my room first.”

Daliya stuck out her hand. “I’m Daliya. We’re a few doors down from each other but we haven’t previously met.”

The woman shook Daliya’s hand. “Angie. Nice to meet you.”

“Jasmine.” Jasmine shook Angie’s hand as well.

Angie started for the door and waved. “Maybe next time?”

  Daliya nodded. “Most definitely.”

  * * *

“So, what am I supposed to be doing?” Daliya asked Jasmine.

After a big meal and catching up with some of the other women on the spaceship, Daliya and Jasmine now stood in front of the communication board in her room. She’d learned how to work it when they first arrived onboard the ship. She could contact the women in other rooms, order supplies and track how far away they were away from Teague.

Which, according to the projection, in a month she would be on Teague, meeting her new mate.

Daliya ran a hand over her stomach, trying to quell the butterflies within. Riding in a spaceship was an adventure, stepping on a different planet and meeting real live aliens?

That was an adventure times ten thousand.

Her stomach knotted with one part anticipation and two parts nervousness.

They hadn’t been assigned mates before they left Earth. Another issue Daliya hadn’t considered when she signed up. In hindsight, the reasoning made sense though. Their mates hadn’t been born yet. As they got closer to Teague, the officials of the Bride Program assigned mates based on the information of the participants from Earth and the males registered from Teague.

“Our mates left us a bunch of messages,” Jasmine said, tapping the console. “It starts when they’re young and goes to their present day.”

Daliya clicked to accept the first message. An alien child came into view. She instantly recognized it was a Yatur child. For the past two hundred years, on top of stimulating their muscles to give them rocking bodies, the A.I.’s had downloaded a multitude of information into their brains. Daliya was now an expert in all things Yatur.

Two older Yaturs, a male and female, popped into view. Both had wide grins painted across their faces. The female waved excitedly while the male pointed to the child crawling over the furniture.

“This is Ahmil. Your mate!” the male exclaimed.

Daliya flinched from his volume and Jasmine cooed at the holovid. “He’s so cute!”

“This is a little…off,” Daliya said hesitantly, eyeing the infant. Her soon to be mate.

Jasmine turned to face her and grimaced. “It is a little creepy when you think about it. But the idea is that we get to know about our mates before we meet them.”

Daliya continued to stare at the screen in dismay. She hadn’t thought her first introduction to her man would come in the form of staring at a baby. “So, I’m supposed to see my mate as an infant and what? Lust after him?”

Jasmine snorted and slapped Daliya’s arm. “Fast forward to what he looks like now. That’s what I did.”

Daliya paused the video and went back to the main screen. After she selected the last message received icon, she waited impatiently for the holovid to load. An image finally appeared. This one reflecting a much older and much hotter Yatur male.

Her body instantly relaxed as she stared into warm hazel eyes and let out a relieved sigh. This was better. The unbuttoned green shirt he wore brought out olive tones in his shining gaze.

Brown hair lay in a sleek layer over a chest that invited a stroking hand. From what she’d read, Yaturs were hairy all over their body with the exception of their faces.

And what a face. Chiseled features, a broad nose and full lips that curved up in a sweet smile. He had a lean build but was still bigger than any man she’d ever dated. Long hair hung from his head and fell in a smooth sheet past his shoulders. He. Was. Fine.

Daliya openly gaped. She was well aware that her mouth hung open and didn’t care. She turned from the screen to look at Jasmine. “He’s mine?”

Jasmine pointed to the screen with wide eyes. “Whoa! He. Is. Hot.”

Daliya turned back to the holovid and pressed play.

“I can’t wait to finally meet you. I’ve been waiting on you my entire life and knowing that in a short month you’ll be by my side is…” Ahmil took a deep breath and shook his head. “Almost too much to bear.”

Jasmine slapped Daliya on the shoulder. “Damn, girl. What pictures did you upload into the portal to send to him?”

Daliya shrugged. When they’d asked for pictures to provide to her mate she’d selected the ones that hopefully would sum up her life. Action shots kayaking through raging rapids, a mid-climb view of her hiking to the highest peak in a national park and a selfie cam photo of her skydiving.

All images that reflected the things she enjoyed as an adventure seeker and to fuel content for her site. She hadn’t thought to send sexy or provocative shots. That wasn’t her style. She wanted her mate to know her. The real her.

“There’s a mountainous retreat on the northern hemisphere. I’ve never gone myself but I’ve heard good things about it. I think once you arrive we can go there, be by ourselves and get to know each other. They have hiking trails and caves to explore.” He smiled brightly, displaying sharp white teeth. “I’ll get you all to myself. The rest of my family can meet you later.”

“Oooohhhh, shit,” Jasmine crowed between giggles. “I’m kin
da jealous. Not about the hiking part, because, ew. But most definitely the wanting to be alone to do the nasty with you.”

Daliya chewed on her bottom lip as she watched Ahmil talk about the activities he had planned for them.

This is really happening. I’m actually mated to an alien and he wants to do the same things I like to do.

This was going to be her greatest adventure yet.

  Chapter Two

“Gather all of your belongings and meet in the reception hall for the arrival of your mate.”

Daliya shifted from one foot to the other as the overhead announcement played on a loop. As instructed, her things were set beside her while she waited for Ahmil to arrive. The huge reception hall where all the women had hung out for down time had been converted into an appropriate waiting space.

The excited voices from the others added to her conflicted feelings. Sweat dampened her palms and her stomach coiled in a knot. She’d viewed Ahmil’s holovids over and over again. She knew everything about him.

She’d been there for his first steps, his first day of school, the first day he’d driven a hovercar, everything. It was like having a little brother who’d finally grown up and she was going to marry him.

  Ugh.

She pushed that intrusive thought from her mind.

She would love Ahmil and he would love her. It didn’t matter that they’d never seen each other in person or had a real conversation. It was all about the intent. They were mated and they’d both accepted that. And they were happy about that.

  But was she? Happy?

  Stop!

She pushed that intrusive thought from her head as well.

“Please be patient. Once your mate arrives, we will call your name,” came the next set of messages on a loop.

Intrusive thoughts were to be expected. Apprehension and second guessing were also to be expected. It was her nerves. She couldn’t let them get the best of her. This was an adventure and Daliya Prince never backed away from an adventure.
