During the last couple of years we had gotten several strange job offers. Both of us were offered...ambassadorships to Kanosia for me and to humanity for him. Our story made such an impact that we were going to be situated on a luscious moon halfway between Earth and Kanosia, apparently it was gorgeous and the perfect temperature. It also meant that we had to leave our lives here, the life of the fisherman and the farmer, him and I. It was rustic but perhaps it was our fate to be tied back into the relations between these two peoples, if only to redeem our past actions.
"Ready to eat?" he called out and our daughter cheers as she runs up to him. He walks down to the freezer and cleans up before I pluck the vegetables up and set them in the pot. I greet him with a kiss as he stepped through the door, collecting spices to grill the meat back outside.
"We're going to leaving soon..." I said.
"Are you worried?" he said while holding me in an embrace.
"Well ...I don't know. This is like the first job of its kind right? I guess I am but at least we'll still be together...We'll find a way to make it work right?" I asked.
"And her?"
"She'll find a way to make it work. I won't let her grow up in a world where the two bloodlines that make her up hate one another."
"Couldn't have said it any better myself." he said and rests his head against mine while we watched our daughter run around outside, perfectly content with both the present and future.
