by Angel Ramon

“Thou shall steal my treasure without leaving something in exchange equal of value.”

He understands that as having to leave the key in order for the trap to stop.

Will you leave the King Key?

  You have selected yes.

He places the key back in the hole and the walls retract from him. Also, the knight with the spinning blades also retreats back to where it was located before.

“Whew! This key is booby trapped. I’ll have to find something to put in that hole. There’s gotta be another key or a false key somewhere in this place.” He says to himself.

Once the coast is clear, he goes back down the stairs and walks back to the hallway. Walking through the hallway, he walks past the dead body. After walking past it though, the body gets up and makes a deranged noise. When George looks behind him, he sees the body isn’t dead after all. It turns out to be a crimson face zombie runner.

“Holy shit!” He screams and runs from the zombie.

The zombie chases him and actually lands a scratch dealing some damage to him.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

He sprints down the hall while the zombie gives chase. Turning the corner, he pulls out his grenade launcher knowing he needs something with more firepower. As soon as the zombie runs around the corner from where he is, George dives back while shooting a grenade. The blast is powerful enough to destroy quite a few statues and more importantly, blow the zombie into pieces.

  Standard Grenade Rounds: 5

Getting up from the floor, he brushes himself off and prepares to open the door in front of him. Before he’s able to open the door, another crimson face zombie pops through and George is shocked.

“Holy crap, what the hell is this place?” He shouts as the impact causes him to fall.

Unable to get up right away, the zombie dives and grabs him. The zombie is able to bite him in the right shoulder. George uses the grenade launcher and swings it in the zombie’s face. The impact causes the zombie to fall to the floor, giving George time to get up.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

Once he gets up, George gets some distance from the zombie. To his shock, the zombie gets up rather fast and begins to run towards him. Using the grenade launcher is not an option for him as he’s too close to the zombie and will end up blowing himself up. The zombie rushes and tries to grab him, but he’s able to duck and crawl away from the zombie.

“I still got it…” He says as he runs out of breath.

George sees a replica spear used in Greek times by the phalanxes of Greece during the classical age. He takes it and waits for the zombie to rush at him.

  Picked up a Phalanx spear

“Argghhhh! Take this freak!” He shouts as he thrusts the spear through the zombie.

The spear pierces through the heart of the zombie. George is unable to remove the spear as it gets stuck in the zombie’s heart. It falls onto the spear as it drops towards the floor. There is no need to remove the spear for George. He sees that he’s wounded badly.

  George uses a Green Herb.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

After healing himself a little bit, he unlocks the door by turning the lock. He leaves the hallway and ends up in the area above the dining room. There are stained glass windows that he did not spot before. George begins to think about where to go next. Pulling out his map, he wants to go back to the door that he could not open before back in the 1st-floor storage room.

There are double doors that lead back to the main hallway. Once George goes through them, he goes down the stairs and heads back to the small art room on the 1st floor. He walks straight towards the storage room and heads for the locked door.

After a bit of a struggle, he finally picks the lock for the door and enters.

Lockpicking Level increased to Level 8!

When George enters, he sees that he’s in a costume room.

“Hmm… a costume room. I guess the Clark family was more nuts than I thought. Although I will say it might be nice to change into something a bit different.” He says to himself.

You have found an Easter Egg! You can change your costume. What do you want to change into?

  1. Police Uniform

  2. Doctor’s Uniform

  3. Business Suit

  4. Tarzan

“What? A Tarzan costume? Seesh… what were they doing? Were they planning on a new movie or something? Oh wait, I forgot these people are totally nuts.” He says in shock as he thinks about what he will change into.

You have chosen costume 1, Police Uniform.

He decides to choose the police uniform to blend in with other officers although it’s really just for show than anything else. Looking around the rest of the room, he finds a pickup on top of a draw.

Picked up a jar of Gunpowder B.

While he can go back to craft more ammo, George sees no need for now as his ammo reserves are adequate. Seeing nothing else useful, he leaves the room and walks back to the floor above the dining room. Reaching the second floor, he sees a door next to the stained windows.

When he gets next to the door, he sees the stained glass window break. A couple of Lizardas seem to jump in. It seems that his nightmarish experience from the hospital is happening all over again. Wasting no time, he pulls out his grenade launcher and shoots a couple of grenades at the creatures.

  Standard Grenade Rounds: 3

One of them hits a Lizarda, killing it right away. The other Lizarda jumps over the round. The grenade flies through the window hitting a car in the street. The Lizarda jumps towards George. When it lands it wall jumps and attempts to strike him. He’s able to duck under the attack.

The Lizarda lands on the railing. George sees an opportunity to push it off the railing, which he ends up doing. When he pushes the creature off the railing, it lands on the table on its feet.

“Crap! I’m not surprised. These are not your normal animals.” He says watching the Lizarda.

After landing, the creature jumps on top of the clock and jumps back to where George is while slashing him.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

After taking a hit, he runs and shoots a grenade at it while running. To his surprise, the Lizarda doesn’t dodge the attack and the grenade hits it head-on, killing it.

  Standard Grenade Rounds: 2

“Shit I might be in good shape, but all this running around is taking a lot out of me. However, I gotta find out what Hybrid is trying to hide.” He says in his mind.

He hears a car alarm and looks outside to see the car that he accidentally blew up. The car is in flames and it looks like nothing of it remains.

“I hope the owner has good insurance besides Geico. Hate to see the bill on that one.” He says humorously.

Walking to the door that he wanted to open, he sees the picture of the queen of clubs. He uses the queen key to unlock the door. When he walks inside, he is greeted by another stairway. He walks around the railing and sees the stairs leading downstairs. However, a door to his left catches is curiosity. So he decides to open the door first and walks into what looks like a study. Perhaps this is Anthony’s study.

Looking around, he sees some grenade rounds on the table that he picks up.

  +6 Standard Grenade Rounds.

  Standard Grenade Rounds: 8

He also spots a note on the table.

  My thoughts 6/2/07

“I have to say, I’m pleased that my father left me with most of ‘my’ inheritance. I know Herman is really upset, but he can put his big boy pants on. After all, I’m the one taking this company places and creating the next medical breakthrough. I’ll admit Raven Hawk might not be as good as I thought, but that’s why we learn. I can guarantee that my new virus, Broken Arrow will not follow the same fate. I can promise that and even if it means I need to separate myself from my own brother I will.

I’ll have my wife, Annette talk to Chief Irons to make sure nobody interferes with my research. Not even the men from the 75th
precinct. I trust that Brian Irons will keep a lid as I’ll use the abandoned art warehouse as a front for the new Hybrid Corp. laboratory. Nobody knows this but me. The poor fools of the New York government have no idea the same place they decided to abandon will reopen and I’ll be achieving high science from under their noses!

Of course, I have to open the art facility as a legitimate business to keep my cover, which should be easy. I hear Brian Irons has a fetish with old art. I’ll keep him happy with that and under my control. The one thing that does worry me is that Terry Bonds guy. I mean, he seemed like he was genuinely doing his job and just going through the ropes.

Something about him does worry me. He looks like a smart man and I feel he might know more than he’s saying. Then again, the Cypress Hills Taboild isn’t going to hire a total dummy either. Of course, then came the break-in a few days after the interview in the reservoir. Nothing was taken, but the so-called spy got away. I gotta find out whom that spy was, he might just tip off Terry Bonds. While I consider Terry Bonds to be a good journalist, he can be tough at times.

Terry looks like the kind of guy who will turn quickly if given a good story. Luckily for me, I got the president of the Cypress Hills Tabloid in my back pocket. I’m sure everything will be ok. I’m probably just overthinking too much.”

“Well… well if Mr. Callahan isn’t in on this. I should have known Sean was acting too weird. Looks like Anthony bought him off to keep a lid on things. Looks like whether I like it or not, I’ll have to go to Westchester and hide out for a bit. It looks like my only real ally is that mystery woman and against my better judgment, I’ll have to take her up on her offer to meet her. Even if it means my own death…” He says to himself while putting the document in the side pocket of his new police uniform.

Realizing the number of corrupt people in his area, he realizes that he’s no longer safe in Brooklyn. Nevertheless, he wants to gather as much dirt as possible and get to that secret laboratory. He sees a digital safe next to the fireplace. Walking to the safe, he sees a small puzzle that has to be solved.

The puzzle is a memory test of patterns that are shown to him. He has to match three patterns on the touchpad by using his finger. His memory isn’t the best. He gets the first puzzle ok as it’s only a circle. The second throws him off with a random zig-zag pattern. Trying the puzzle again, he notices the patterns are randomized.

So he continues to struggle with drawing all three patterns until the tenth go-around where he gets patterns that are slightly easier to remember. When he solves the patterns, the safe unlocks and he looks inside. There are a couple of things inside.

Picked up a part of a key. It looks like part of a fake key. The other part needs to be found.

Picked up a jar of Gunpowder A.

After grabbing the goodies, he leaves the room knowing the situation is bigger than he could possibly comprehend. Walking down the stairs to the first floor, he sees a door leading to a medical room. Entering the medical room, he sees several herbs.

  Picked up two Green Herbs.

Picked up a Blue Herb. Used to cure Poison Condition.

There are other medicines on the counter along with a bed, but none of that proves to be useful for George. Leaving the room, he goes through a plain hallway with windows to his left. Walking through the room, a couple of more Lizardas pop through.

He runs to the other side of the hallway and shoots his grenade launcher. The grenade misses both creatures, but the impact is strong enough to knock them down to the floor. With both creatures down, he launches another grenade that kills them both.

  Standard Grenade Rounds: 6

“Damn all these jump scares are enough to give one a heart attack,” George says to himself trying to calm down.

George sees an oak wood door that he opens quickly and enters through. When he enters the room, he sees that the room hasn’t been used in quite a while by the dust and spider webs. He sees some ammo on the table that he takes.

Picked up a Pistol Magazine. +8 Pistol Ammo.

  Pistol Ammo: 42

George also sees what looks like a reloading machine that he can use to convert gunpowder. Thinking the tougher enemies are beginning to making their appearance, George feels that making grenade rounds is the way to go.

You have combined a jar of Gunpowder A with Gunpowder B to create Gunpowder AB.

You have combined a jar of Gunpowder A with Gunpowder B to create Gunpowder AB.

You have inserted two jars of Gunpowder AB into the machine.

  +12 Acid Rounds.

  +100 XP gained!

  Crafting XP: 200/200

Ammo Crafting Skill Increased to Level 2! +2 Extra Ammo yielded per conversion.

  Crafting XP: 200/400

With nothing else to be found, George leaves the room and heads back to the hallway. Seeing a door to the right, he sees a picture of the queen of spades. Using the queen key, he unlocks the door and enters. When he enters the room, he is in a huge room with a chessboard in the middle. There are also several zombies in the room.

He pulls out his pistol to converse his valuable grenade rounds and begins to shoot the zombies in butler and business suits. He kills one of the zombies with a couple of headshots before he has to reload.

  Pistol Ammo: 40

As he’s reloading, he is grabbed and bitten by a zombie that surprises him from his left side. He pushes it away, but not before he takes more damage.

  Condition: Danger

After pushing the zombie away, he finishes reloading his pistol and kills the zombie with three headshots. The other three zombies come towards him and he runs from them to get some distance. He shoots until he has to reload again.

  Pistol Ammo: 32

One of them goes down and he finishes the other two in six shots as he is unable to get clear headshots.

  Pistol Ammo: 26

George mixes two green herbs and uses them.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

Looking carefully at the wooden room, he sees big chess pieces and has no idea what they mean. So he walks to the table that is in the room and realizes this is the recreation room, hence the giant chessboard.

He sees a mini-chessboard on the table and looks at where the pieces are located. Comparing the giant board with the mini-board, he notices the locations of the pieces don’t match. He sees the white rook needs to be moved all the day down to the left to A-8. The queen has to be moved diagonally to A-5 on the board. Finally, the knight has to be moved to E-2.

Walking to the giant chessboard, he moves the pieces as shown on the board. He accidentally moves the queen outside of its path and a poisonous gas begins to come up from the floor. The gas gets into George’s body and he becomes poisoned.

  Condition: Poison

He has trouble breathing and has to go back to the hallway to get some fresh air. Running next to one of the broken windows, he gets some fresh air from outside. He vomits his guts out and eats a blue herb as nasty as it might be.

  George uses a Blue Herb.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

Once his body is clear of all toxins, he heads back into the room with the chessboard. Going back to the giant board, he moves all the pieces carefully until they are all in their proper spot. Once he accomplishes that, the mini-board on the table opens. George walks to the table and sees what the board was hiding.

Picked up a key part. It looks like the head of a fake key.

George combines both parts of the key to get a Fake Key. Checking the key, it has the same shape and it looks like the King Key. However, it lacks the mechanical ability to be one. Maybe there’s another use?

Once he has the fake key, he makes his trek towards the trap room where the real king key is located. Before he can leave the huge chessboard room, he hears a loud sound coming from a couple of rooms ahead. Have the zombies he had held back in the dining room broken in?

“Crap that better not be what I think…” George says concerned, prepared fo
r anything.

  Chapter 7

After hearing the loud noise, he heads to the door to his right and unlocks the door. Leaving the room, he reenters the dark green hallway by the dining room. George makes his way to the door that he had opened with the queen key. As he’s about to pass the door to the dining room, a zombie pops through the door scaring him half to death.

Luckily for George, the zombie is not a crimson face. With his pistol, he shoots the zombie with three headshots before it goes down.

  Pistol Ammo: 23

After killing the zombie, he walks towards the door he wanted to open only to spot more zombies breaking through the windows in the nook.

“Crap looks like these zombies aren’t half dumb after all.” He says in a bit of shock.

With some ammo still left in his pistol and reloading his weapon, he begins to shoot both zombies. While one of them goes down, the other dives towards him. He backs up away from the zombie as it’s landing. When the zombie lands on the floor, he shoots a couple of rounds in the zombie’s head killing it.

  Pistol Ammo: 18

He notices that his pistol ammo is running low and it seems more zombies are beginning to enter the mansion. Opening the door, he continues down the hall as he walks towards the stairway to the second floor. As he passes by the windows, one of them breaks as a Lizarda pops through into the hallway.

George tries to outrun the Lizarda, but as he’s running he slips and falls to the floor. He quickly gets up but is struck by the creature from behind.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

After being slashed, the Lizarda jumps up and lands in front of him. Pulling out his grenade launcher, he shoots a grenade at the creature. The Lizarda is able to jump out of the way though and the grenade simply hits a desk destroying it. The Lizarda wall jumps and it attempts to slash George again. He’s able to roll out of the way and the Lizarda lands in front of him with its back turned.

“See ya!” He says arrogantly while shooting another grenade right at the creature.

The grenade hits the Lizarda and it blows into large chunks around the hallway.

  Standard Grenade Rounds: 4
