by Angel Ramon

“Wait, it’s not midnight yet…” He says looking at the clock.

The clock plays a small musical tone and moves by itself to the right. When the clock finishes moving, he walks towards it. He sees a small hole in the wall with a small item inside.

Picked up a Figurine. Looking at the figurine, it’s Alexander the Great.

Grabbing the figurine, George realizes that he has the remaining two figurines in his possession. Before he heads to the side garden, George remembers that he has a few jars of gunpowder to convert. Turning around, he heads to the chessboard room. Leaving the chessboard room, he heads into the storage room to find the reloading machine. In the storage room, he gathers his gunpowder jars.

“Hmm… it seems I’m getting better at this ammo creating stuff. Now I’m ready to see what the panel unlocks.” He says confidently.

Armed with more ammo, he heads back towards the dining room. From there he goes back to the hallway. When he looks outside for a quick moment, George sees a monstrous shadow. It’s a huge monster like thing with a claw for its right hand.

Not sure what it might be, he grabs his grenade launcher. However, when a thunderstorm passes by the shadow is gone. At first, George thinks it’s a result of his imagination. However, he knows Hybrid well to know that it might another one of their biohazard weapons. Keeping his focus, George heads through the double doors leading to the room with the huge female statue.

Continuing to walk, he goes through the peach wall hallway. In the peach hallway, he sees a couple of Lizardas come from outside and jumping into the hallway. Not wanting to waste his valuable ammo, George runs away from the creatures. He rushes through the wooden door to the light green hallway and quickly opens the iron door leading to the panel.

When he reaches the panel, he catches his breath and gathers himself. He places the King Leonidas and Alexander the Great figurines in their respective spaces. The panel lights lit up and the lights turn green. He hears a loud noise coming from his right.

“What the heck is that? Well, so much for being a plain tennis court.”

He sees the tennis court open up and once it completely finished opening up, he is in shock with what he sees. It proves to be an elevator leading down underground.

“Hmm… looks like that’s where the laboratory is located. Looks like I better buckle down because I’m about to find some real shit down there.” He says as he prepares to enter the elevator.

Walking into the elevator, he takes it down all the way until it stops. The elevator stops while the door opens. George walks out of the elevator and finds himself in a substation owned by the water company.

“What the hell? These guys have an elevator leading down to the water company’s substation? Something’s not right here. Looks like Anthony was right about Hybrid running circles from under our noses. It’s hard to believe that the Clark’s were able to build an elevator to get to our water supply unless the mayor of New York sold his soul to the devil as well.” George says to himself.

George knows that there is a chance that he might be walking into a rat trap, but he vowed to take down Hybrid. Going through the sewer system, he enters a room with a bridge over water. The room is the purification room, but the purifiers are not quite running.

Walking through the bridge, he is surprised by a couple of froggers that pop out of the water. When the froggers come out of the water, one of them spits a poisonous substance that he’s unable to get out of the way from.

  Condition: Poison

After getting hit with the substance, he doesn’t feel anything right away. Backing up from the frogs, he loads the acid rounds into his grenade launcher. He shoots a couple of acid rounds at one of the frogs killing it easily.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 14

The other frog uses its tongue to grab his foot and begins to pull him towards it. With the grenade launcher still in his hand, he waits for the creature to open its mouth. When he sees the frog opening his mouth, George shoots an acid round into it. The acid round gets into the mouth of the frog melting its insides and killing it fast.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 13

He sees the signature green blood coming out of the creatures, but the smell isn’t as bad as the spiders. Nevertheless, the disgusting green color is enough to turn his stomach just a bit. Walking forward towards the door on the other side, he hears a noise behind him. He turns around quickly making sure nothing is behind him. The coast is clear, but he’s not convinced.

When he sees nothing moving for a while, George begins to walk forward again. He hears the noise again and tries to run. George notices that his stomach begins to kill him and his legs start to become numb. A frogger jumps in front of him and slashes him easily. George has a tough time reacting and the frog is able to grab him with its tongue.

The frog begins to pull her in and George begins to lose consciousness as he is about to be swallowed whole by the frog. That is until three loud blasts are heard coming from a Desert Eagle. The three .50 Action Express bullets strike the frog and kill it. George falls to the ground barely able to move.

The mystery person drags him into a medical room and onto a bed. Ten minutes later, George opens his eyes and is barely able to get up.

“What am I doing here? Who took me here? Who saved me? Whoever it was saved my butt. I’m beginning to believe in guardian angels and I might just have one watching over me.” He says in disbelief.

He’s still poisoned and needs to heal himself. There is a group of blue herbs growing next to the bed.

There are Blue Herbs growing here. However, there are only enough herbs for a few uses. Will you use one?

  You have selected yes.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

After in taking the blue herb, he begins to feel better as the toxins are going away. His vision returns to normal and his legs begin to regain their circulation. He looks around the medical room and spots a few things.

Picked up a jar of Gunpowder A.

Picked up a jar of Gunpowder B.

Picked up a First Aid Spray.

He saves the first aid spray in case he gets hurt anymore. George leaves the medical room and ends up back in the bridge. He sees a door to his right that he opens and ends up back in the sewers. In the sewers, he spots three giant spiders crawling on the walls and ceilings.

With the sewers being as big as they are, George has an easy time running past the spiders. One of the spiders tries to spit poison at him, but he easily outruns the spider. Spotting a gate that he can open, George goes through the gate. After going through the gate, he sees a blast door that is locked with a keycard reader to the right.

He also sees metal double doors to his left and heads through. Entering through the doors, he finds himself in a room filled with pipes and machines. Someone else is inside the room wearing a white lab coat. Arming himself with the pistol, he sneaks behind the man and aims his gun.

“Herman Clark… you SOB! You got a lot of explaining to do. Now we can do this the easy way or I can leave you dead right where you stand. As far as I’m concerned, you don’t have much in the way of a choice.” George says to Herman.

“Who the hell are you and how did you get here?” Herman asks.

“Well, I should be asking you the same question. What the hell is going on? First, you guys have my friend killed an
d second of all, I know Raven Hawk is nothing but a virus.” George answers.

“You mean Dave, well it’s true that Hybrid had him killed but I wasn’t the one to have him killed. That would be my brother who would be the one responsible for that.” Herman replies.

“I know the laboratory is down here! Now listen, you wanna do something useful before you rot in prison?” George says while Herman nods nervously.

“Put that gun down, will you?” Herman responds nervously.

“I guess a gun in your face speaks volume. Now listen wise guy, I want you to take me to the laboratory. I wanna take some pictures and get out of here. I want you to whistleblow on your brother and expose what he’s doing.” George says.

“Who are you supposed to be, law enforcement?” Herman asks.

“I wouldn’t say that. I’m more of a vigilante so to say. However, I do have friends in the 104th precinct. Then again, I’m not afraid to whack you here in cold blood. So you going to calm down on the wisecracks or do I play hardball?” George asks.

“Ok… ok, whatever you say. What do you need to know or what do you want from me?” Herman asks.

“Once you stop crying like a little baby,” George says and Herman calms down.

“I want you to be my smoking gun. Lead me to the laboratory so I can take pictures and I’ll make sure that you survive this outbreak. Also, turn yourself in and tell on your brother. I know you want revenge on your brother. You help me and you might get away with only 20 years in the slammer. Sounds good?” George asks.

“Yeah, whatever gets your gun out of my face.” Herman says.

George lowers his gun as the Herman begins to lead the way to the laboratory. Before they can leave the room though, a loud boom is heard.

  “What was that?” George asks.

  “Oh my god!” Herman screams.

“Oh my god? What is that supposed to mean?” George asks and gets no response.

“I said, what is that supposed to mean?” George shouts looking for answers.

Out of nowhere the wall collapses on their left side and the impact is enough to knock them both on the floor. When George rolls over, he sees that Herman gets up and escapes the room.

“Herman you bastard! Shit! That schmuck got away.” George shouts trying to get up.

When he gets up from the floor, George turns around and sees a monstrous creature coming through the hole. He hears slow but huge footsteps. When the creature comes out, George is in total shock when he sees the creature.

“Lord have mercy…” George’s face turns white for a minute.

  Chapter 9

George looks at the creature and is in total shock. The creature is a tall superhuman like creature with veins coming out of its body along with a beating heart on the right side of its body. It’s armed with a huge claw on its right hand.

  Boss: Polybius Zero

The creature is code named Polybius which is named after the Greek Historian. Zero is a code term which probably indicates that the creature is a prototype and isn’t complete. Despite that, the creature proves to be an intimidating creature.

Polybius tries to walk and slash George, but he’s able to dive away from the attack. With the acid rounds loaded in his grenade launcher, he shoots the creature with three acid rounds from behind.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 10

While the rounds hit Polybius, it’s not enough to kill it. Brushing off the acid rounds, Polybius rushes into George and slaps him with its claw.

  Condition: Danger

Landing on the floor, George is unable to use his first aid spray. Polybius steps on him with its left foot and prepares to thrust its long claw into George.

With the grenade launcher on his right hand, George uses all his energy to lift up the heavy weapon. Holding it with all his might, he’s able to pull the trigger and an acid round comes out. The round comes out and strikes it on the huge heart of the creature. Polybius favors its heart and kneels down in pain.

George is able to pull himself up and when he gets up, he heals himself.

George uses a First Aid Spray.

  Condition: Fine

Once he heals himself, Polybius gets up right away and attempts to run into him again. This time though, he is able to get out of the way. Polybius thrusts its claw right into the wall and it gets stuck on the wall. With Polybius stuck on the wall, George tries to go around the creature to shoot it. When he gets next to the creature ready to shoot it in the heart, Polybius is able to pull its claw out of the wall.

When the creature gets out of the wall, it grabs George with its left hand and throws him into some heavy boxes. George takes a small amount of damage. He’s unable to get up through due to the impact of the fall. Polybius attempts to slash George and he’s able to roll. Despite rolling, he is struck by part of the claw dealing decent damage.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

Rolling away from the attack, he feels a sharp scratch pain on his back. When he faces the creature, George shoots a couple of more acid rounds into the heart of Polybius.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 8

After the rounds land on Polybius, the creature goes down on its knees and falls down face first. Polybius doesn’t move after it goes down.

“Hmm… it looks like it’s a prototype or something. It went down rather quickly. Still, I gotta be on my guard” He says.

Looking around the room, he finds nothing of use. Walking towards the door, he steps on something with his feet.

Picked up a Keycard. Used to open the blast door in the sewer system.

“Herman must have dropped this when he ran away. Why is there a blast door in the sewer system? Hmm… seems too convenient for Hybrid just moving into NYC. I smell dirty politics in the form of the city knowing what exactly was taking place and even funding it. The more I dig deep into this cesspool, the more I believe that I’m not safe along with the people of New York.” He says to himself.

George walks back into the sewer system and inserts the keycard. All of a sudden a bad feeling drops into his head. He knows his life is in jeopardy because Herman found him and chances are Herman will report him to Hybrid.

“It seems I’ve jumped to public enemy #1 in a matter of a few hours. I better get out of here quickly.” He says.

The blast doors open and lead to the rest of the sewer system or at least that is what he expected to see. Instead, he sees a large transport system in the form of a monorail. He is in shock that such a complex transport system under this part of Brooklyn. What shocks him even further is that the residents of New York are totally clueless about the existence of such a system.

Walking towards the monorail, he sees a small tool cabinet where he looks for anything useful. He finds a few things.

Picked up two jars of Gunpowder B.

Picked up a Pistol Magazine. +8 Pistol Ammo.

  Pistol Ammo: 26

Looking at the tram, it looks like it’s off right now. There is a panel next to the tram that he walks to and operates.

  Tram Control System

  1. Start the tram

  2. Tram Status

  3. About Tram

  You have chosen option 2

Tram Status: Disabled - The fuse for the power supply is blown. The fuse needs to be replaced, fuses can be found in the electrical room under the tram.

He gets out of the menu system as he knows what needs to be done. Seeing a set of stairs to his left, he walks down and ends up in the storage area. Here most of the spare parts for the tram are just sitting around waiting to be used. These include brakes, wheels, bars, and interior tram parts.

Walking around the room, he spots a door that reads “Electrical Room”. George enters the room and sees a couple of things.

  Picked up +6 Flame rounds.

  Flame Grenade Rounds: 14

Picked up a Fuse. This fuse is used for the power supply for the tram transport.

Leaving the electrical room, he finds the fuse box for the tram’s powe
r supply. Inserting the fuse in the box, he gets the power supply running. The power supply makes a noise indicating that it’s on. George can’t help but to think that it’s too quiet where he is and the fuse was easy to find.

After a minute passes, the lights turn off and he hears an automated message.

“This is a safety cut off test. It will take one minute for the system to restore, please be patient.”

“Oh well, it’s only a minute. It won’t kill me to wait.” He says calmly.

As he’s walking up the stairs, he sees the Polybius walking through the open blast door.

“Oh God, not you again! I should have known better than to think you were going to go down easily.” George says.

He loads in the flame rounds and sees Polybius ready to attack. George runs to the side away from Polybius’s running attack. George shoots three flame rounds at Polybius. None of them hit the heart of the creature.

  Flame Grenade Rounds: 11

Polybius walks to George whose grenade launcher jams on him and slashes him.

  Condition: Danger

The slash hits George hard and takes away much of his health. Falling down to the ground, George uses his little energy to shoot off a couple of flame shots. The flame shot hits the creature in the heart twice to weaken it. Polybius doesn’t stay on the floor for too long though as it gets up quickly.

George tries to shoot a couple of flame rounds at the creature, but none of them hit the heart. His motor skills are compromised by the injuries he has sustained.

  Flame Grenade Rounds: 9

Polybius grabs him by the throat and begins to choke him. George drops his grenade launcher and his face begins to turn blue. He taps the pockets on his pants with his right hand and he feels something inside. Trying to stay conscious, he’s able to pull a survival knife out of the pocket.

With the little energy he has, he’s able to stab the creature in the heart. Polybius screams in pain as it holds its heart while kneeling down. George falls onto the floor trying to catch his breath. Seeing the creature still in pain, he uses his energy to grab the grenade launcher from the floor.
