by Angel Ramon

  Level 11 Lockpicking Skill Required.

Ignoring the locker, he goes through an automatic door that opens up. When he goes through, he sees a zombie that walks towards him. Wanting to save his better ammo, he uses the pistol to kill the zombie.

  Pistol Ammo: 19

Another zombie comes out and he takes care of it easily and reloads.

  Pistol Ammo: 16

Walking into the main laboratory, he sees a horde of seven zombies. He shoots and runs as he’s able to avoid the zombies from grabbing him. Using the huge room to his advantage, he’s able to kill all the zombies while using up all his pistol ammo.

  Pistol Ammo: 0

With no more ammo, he pulls out his grenade launcher loaded with the standard grenades. Walking around the laboratory, he sees a lot of useless test tubes and other lesser substances. Going all the way to the back of the lab, he sees what he’s been looking for.

Picked up a sample of the Raven Hawk Virus. This is the diabolical substance responsible for the zombie outbreak in NYC!

When he picks up the sample in the test tube, he hears a loud sound coming from the wall on his left. Walking in further, the wall collapses and Polybius reveals itself once again.

“You again? It seems you don’t give up easily.” George says looking at Polybius.

Polybius runs towards him and he dives out of the way from the creature. Polybius destroys a table with all the test tubes falling onto the floor. George loads in the acid rounds for the grenade launcher as Polybius is still facing the other way. When the creature turns around, he shoots a couple of acid rounds to the heart of Polybius.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 14

One of the rounds does strike the heart but the other gets deflected by Polybius’s claw to George’s shock. The round ends up melting the machine used to make the Raven Hawk Virus.

“At least they won’t be able to make anymore of that rancid stuff here.” He says as he’s running.

Polybius walks up to him and goes to slash him. George shoots an acid round at the creature’s heart. When the acid round hits the heart of the creature, it kneels in pain.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 13

Seeing that Polybius is down, George attempts to finish it off by shooting a couple of rounds at it. When he shoots two acid rounds at it, Polybius deflects them both with its huge claw and screams angrily.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 11

When Polybius gets up, it slaps George with its claw towards a table. He takes a decent amount of damage.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

Before George can get up, Polybius walks up to him and performs an uppercut slashing attack. George rolls out of the way and Polybius ends up cutting through the table. Unable to get up, George continues to back away from the superhuman.

Polybius attempts to thrust the long part of its claw right into George. He’s able to push himself back as the claw penetrates the floor. Its claw gets stuck and that gives George a chance to shoot it again. He shoots three shots in the heart of Polybius dealing a good amount of damage.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 8

Before he can shoot anymore, his grenade launcher jams on him. Polybius is able to get up and remove its claw out of the floor. George tries to run away from the creature, but Polybius chases him. He gets behind a few mainframe servers that Polybius cuts through with its claw.

He tries to slam the grenade launcher in an attempt to unjam it. However, it doesn’t seem to unjam. Polybius runs towards him and punches him with its powerful left hand knocking him down.

  Condition: Danger

Falling back to the floor, George is in bad shape and has a tough time getting up. Polybius walks up to him and grabs the unconscious George. It begins to choke him and is ready to thrust its claw into him. Before it can finish him off though, loud booms can be heard.

A mysterious person enters the P-1 laboratory and begins to shoot at Polybius. Unlike the mystery woman though, this person is carrying a tactical shotgun. The mystery person begins to shoot Polybius and keeps the creature away from George. George is able to eventually get up and picks up his grenade launcher.

Polybius grabs the mystery person and thrusts its claw into the person. George is able to recover and waits until Polybius turns in his direction. When the creature turns towards him, George shoots four acid rounds non-stop and all of them strike the heart.

  Acid Grenade Rounds: 4

The acid begins to melt through the heart of Polybius and the creature falls on its knees. Falling face first, Polybius begins to bleed out a signature purple color blood. When George looks at it from its left side, he can see its heart is destroyed and dead.

“Looks like the ultimate bio-weapon just turn into the ultimate failure. That’s one less freak that the world will have to worry about. Poor man sacrificed his own life to save mine. Don’t worry, your life shall be avenged.” He says in pain.

George looks at the man that saved him and recognizes him as a scientist who was with Hybrid. Looking at the name tag, it reads Larry. George takes a look at the scientist’s hand and sees a ring that reads the name ‘Linda’.

“No way, this is the same man who wrote that note back in the mansion. Well damn… Looks like poor Linda will never see her husband after all. Damn it, Hybrid!” He says.

Despite being in bad shape, he walks out of the P-1 laboratory and makes his way to the neurotoxin room. Walking to the neurotoxin room, he knows he’s in bad shape and can ill afford to take another hit. On the panel next to the door, he inserts the Raven Hawk sample into the sampler. The computer reads it and after a minute, it verifies it and unlocks the door.

George walks into the neurotoxin room and sees something that catches his eye right away.

Picked up a First Aid Spray.

George uses a First Aid Spray.

  Condition: Fine

After healing himself, he feels much better although the flesh wounds are still showing up. He sees a phone that he uses knowing he might need Elaine to pick him up again. At first, he’s hesitant because having her pick him up will force him to tell Elaine what is really going on. As much as he doesn’t want to put Elaine in any danger, it might be best if she knows the truth.

He picks up the phone and calls Elaine.

“Hello? Who is this?” Elaine picks up and asks.

“It’s me, George. Listen, I need you to pick me up on Gates Ave and Broadway.” He answers.

“What are you doing down there?” She asks.

  What will George answer?

  1. I got lost out here and have no way of getting back. (Passive)

  2. I was visiting a friend and got myself into a bad situation. (Neutral)

  3. I’m in a bad spot and I need your help. I’ll explain to you when I get in the car. (Aggressive)

  You have chosen option #3.

“I’m in a bad spot and I need your help. I’ll explain to you when I get in the car.” George answers.

  “Are you hurt?” She asks.

“Yes, a little. Look, just come get me. I promise to answer your questions when you get me.” He replies.

“Ok hun, I’m on my way.” She responds and hangs up.

George feels better that he has a ride as he has no idea what will happen when he shuts down the facility and has to be ready to leave in case the neurotoxins escape. He sees a computer in front of him that he activates.

  Neurotoxin Controls

  1. Shut down facility

  2. Release Neurotoxins

Emergency exit lock has been overridden. Access granted! Press ESC to go back to the main menu.

  You have selected option 1

Are you sure you want to shut down the facility?

  “Hell yeah!” George says.

Facility shutdown in progress! Press ESC to go back to main menu.

“Should I release the toxins? Well, why not. That should discourage them from running a
ny more experiments!” He says.

  Releasing Neurotoxins!

  Warning! Deadly Neurotoxins released!

Attention… Attention! A deadly Neurotoxin leak has been detected, Hazmat crews are being sent right now!

Oh crap, I better get out of here before I get trapped!” George says.

When he gets out, he sees a couple of men in hazmat suits shooting at him with assault rifles. He gets behind the wall and blasts both of them with an acid round melting their skins. Running out of the hallway, George runs through the lobby as fast as he can while avoiding bullets being shot at him by more hazmat guards.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

“The neurotoxin gas is getting stronger! I better get out of here quickly.” He says.

“Neurotoxin leak spreading into the sewers, please evacuate and put on your gas masks. This gas is toxic and deadly.” An automated message says over the loudspeaker.

Hiding below the chairs, he’s able to avoid being shot by the Hybrid Hazmat Crew. When he sees them reload, he heads for the emergency exit.

“Cut him off before he leaves!” One of the guards yells.

Before George can escape, he is trapped by two Hazmat crew members holding AR-15 assault rifles and the guards behind him.

“Stop right there or we will shoot!” The guard in front of him says angrily.

“If you give yourself up, we will spare your life.” Another guard says.

The guards behind him walk up to him ready to take him in. George has no choice but to drop his weapon as he lifts his hands up ready to be taken in. Before the guards can grab him, the three guards behind him are shot.

“What the hell, who’s there?” One of the guards say.

A mysterious female with the same long brown hair George remembers walks in with a black motorcycle suit, black knee high heel boots, a gas mask, and a Desert Eagle walks towards them.

“Wait don’t shoot!” The guards in front of George yell before she shoots them with her magnum.

“Here take this and this time, take my advice. Get the hell out of New York City! You’re not safe!” She says in a British accent while handing him a gas mask that he puts on.

More guards get inside and she makes quick work of them while displaying superior athletic ability.

“What are you waiting for? Go!” She yells at him.

George wanted to see who the mystery person is, but as he puts on the gas mask, he figures he will find out in time. For now, he has to focus on escaping with the little evidence he has and getting out of NYC for now. Running through the underground path, he can see more hazmat guards running the other way. He hides behind the wall until they pass by.

When he continues through the path, he sees an elevator that he enters. He sees some hazmat guards running towards him ready to shoot. He quickly taps the door close button and the elevator closes as the guards shoot at his direction. Hiding behind the closing doors, he avoids getting shot.

“Whew! That was a close one.” He says to himself.

The elevator goes up and stops. The doors open and it leads him to an abandoned garage that is located on Gates Ave and Marcus Garvey Blvd. He escapes and runs towards Broadway where Elaine should be waiting for him.

As he’s running the hazmat guards begin to catch up and they begin to shoot at him. He runs and hides behind a car to cover himself. Once the bullets stop flying, he realizes that he left the grenade launcher back in the laboratory. Not wasting time, he keeps running until he gets to Broadway.

As he had hoped, Elaine’s car is waiting for him. He quickly opens the passenger side door and jumps into Elaine’s car.

“Elaine, gun it… gun it! We gotta get out of here.” George shouts.

“What’s the rush? Are you hurt or something?” She asks.

The two hear gunfire and feel the bullets hitting the car.

“That’s why, we’re being shot at!” George screams.

“What the hell did you do now?” Elaine asks angrily as she floors the accelerator.

The car takes off and the two are able to escape from the pursuing guards. Once they reach Halsey Street and see they lost the guards, Elaine slows down.

“George, is there something I need to know? Look, I’m tired of you keeping me in the dark. I understand the first time that you got caught in the first zombie outbreak. How did you end up all the way out here with men in hazmat suits trying to kill you? That’s the second time I’ve had to save you. What do you have to say for yourself?” Elaine asks angrily.

  George doesn’t answer at all.

“Or did you get a booty call from that mystery woman who saved you?” Elaine asks.

“I will tell you, but not here. When I get home, I’ll tell you.” George says soberly.

George feels guilty for trying to keep Elaine in the dark about his Hybrid probe, but he knows what they’re capable of doing. He’s not sure how she will take the news or if he will even tell her, running the risk of not having anybody rescuing him next time he’s in a tough spot.

He still doesn’t know who his mystery savior is. All he knows is that she is British and she has warned him to leave NYC. It’s clear that he’s not safe in New York anymore and will have to take the mystery woman’s offer to go to Westchester County. He has a lot to think about…

  Appendix

The appendix on this book will focus on what is found in book two and will not repeat characters from book one. This is to avoid repeating, if you need a refresher on the characters introduced in book one, please go back to book one. You don’t need to read this part but you might learn something new.

  Characters -

Mr. Garrison – The principal of the school where George works in his day job. He is made fun of due to his large beard. The geeks usually compare him to Karl Marx. He’s in his middle sixties and is due to retire soon. Mr. Garrison is easy to talk to and has a rather kind personality.

Chief Hickey – The chief of the 104th precinct located in Queens, New York. Chief Hickey usually works in unison with the neighboring 75th precinct. He thinks rather low of the 75th precinct and believes Chief Irons is corrupt. His dream is to take down the corrupt precinct and clean it up. In reality, he just doesn’t get along with Chief Irons and believes that Irons is up to no good.

Sean Callahan – He is the president of the Cypress Hills Tabloid, the biggest newspaper organization in Cypress Hills. Sean is always hungry for the biggest stories for the sake of a big payday. George finds out though that Sean’s ethics are more than questionable. They’re borderline treacherous. Either that or Sean is naïve to what Hybrid is really planning.

Reuben – His last name is never revealed. He is a man in his thirties who is of German descent. He’s a well respected officer who just happens to work for the most corrupt police precinct in NY, the 75th precinct. He gets caught up in the collusion between the 75th precinct and Hybrid. When George threatens his life, he decides to come clean. However, he takes a chance of breaking into the Clark Family mansion in Brooklyn for an unknown reason. He pays with his life as he’s eaten alive by a horde of zombies.

Herman Clark – The older brother of Anthony Clark and co-owner of the Hybrid Corporation. Herman is upset because he feels he was cheated out of the family inheritance and now vows to get vengeance on his family. George meets Herman in the sewer system and ‘convinces’ him to lead him to the laboratory. That is, until Polybius breaks in and allows Herman to escape. He is just as much of an asshole as Anthony, although for far different reasons.

  Creatures –

Ivy – A plant based creature. It’s a mutated Venus flytrap that spits out a poison that is capable of rendering the victim unconscious. Their long vines enable them to grab their victims and pull them in. Once they pull their victim in, they can use their huge mouths to bite the head off. Their biggest weakness is fire as it’s the case with reg
ular plants. There are still being researched, so they will probably be improved upon in the future.

Crimson Face Zombies – These are your ordinary zombies with a couple of exceptions. One is their faces is red and the most important one is they can run. They can run fast as well. They’re hard to outrun and are armed with long claws they use to deal damage outside of biting their victims. These are much scarier and formidable to kill.

Polybius Zero – This is the lone boss of episode two. This is a prototype creature that serves the superhuman division for the Hybrid Corporation. It’s armed with a huge claw on its right side and huge left hand to grab things or humans. It has a heart that sticks out that feeds it. The heart is a huge weak spot and is probably the reason why the Polybius line of superhumans will be replaced by the Mr. Z line.

  Weapons –

Grenade Launcher – It’s a powerful grenade launcher that can shoot multiple types of grenades. The standard grenades are powerful explosives that can clear out a room of zombies although it does deliver less damage to more powerful creatures and Polybius.

The acid rounds are excellent for creatures and superhumans. Not as good against the undead.

The flame rounds excel vs plant based creatures and zombies. Not as good vs Polybius. In fact, these are the worst when dealing with the superhuman. Then again, if you got no choice you gotta use them.

While grenade rounds can be found in random spots, they’re far and few between. Most of the time, grenade rounds will have to be created by converting gunpowder.

Gunpowder – There are two kinds of gunpowder, they are A and B. Gunpowder A converts to pistol ammo while Gunpowder B converts to grenade rounds. Mixing gunpowder B with another jar of gunpowder A or B will give you different grenade round types.

  Easter Eggs and References-

The scene where George kills the three thugs that are trying to rape the girl was inspired from the opening scene of Death Wish 4.

The closet where George can enter to change his outfit was inspired from the idea of the original Resident Evil game where one could unlock the closet key to change the character’s outfit. The key would be unlocked once you complete the game, although in this story the door is simply unlocked with the lockpick.
