Periyasamy overjoyed with excitement, “Oh GOD, I realized today that success is in our hands; only the person who runs the thinking process towards success with the dynamism and obsession in achieving the ultimate objective will succeed; Thank you GOD to make me realize what the real DOS is and the great gift Bill had given to this world”

  Lesson learnt so far has further rejuvenated Periyasamy and can’t resist taking up the next lesson.

  GOD is very relaxed and realises his witty way of teaching makes a positive impact on this human!

  Periyasamy is disturbed by the need of a biological break and thought of checking up, “GOD, I am sure you need a break, outside the door take a right and then take a left, you will then find the way for the necessary break”

  “What break you are talking about Periya Samy! I can’t take a break; if I do there will be full of destruction…”, GOD said

  “WOW, are you sure you don’t need any biological break?!!!” Periyasamy sort of screaming as he could not resist and said while rushing out, “OK, let me go first and you think over whether you want to follow or not..”

  In the mean time, GOD had a glance through and sighted at a note reading

  ‘We shall have no better conditions in the future if we are satisfied with all those which we have at present’ – Thomas Alva Edison

  7. Managing Competency

  “Almighty GOD, Can you please teach me a trick to win Competition?”, Periyasamy questioned

  “Periaya Samy, do you first understand how the competition comes about”, GOD replied

  “You have a knack to shoot back the question to the opponent”, Periaysamy whispered himself

  “Are you satisfied?”, GOD said

  “Hmm, I am of course satisfied as far as no competition exists”, Periyasamy replied back

  “What do you prefer, Satisfaction or competition?”, GOD said

  “Well, let me tell you, competition is created by oneself, competition is self created by three main factors,

  1.Stickiness to Legacy

  2.Complacency

  3.Reluctant to change

  Have you ever heard of anyone who has never lost to competition during the whole life?”, God continued

  “Well, I can think of only one person that is, You GOD”, Periyasmay said with a big smile on his face with a thought of pleasing the GOD

  “Reacting without looking at the nitty-gritty leads to failure; Your reactive reply is not well taken as you did not realise that GOD should not be compared with a human; GOD doesn’t have a life or forms”, after a bit of pause, GOD said

  “Ofcourse, GOD does not face with any competition but faces with the human belief in different ways and forms of GOD”, GOD continued

  GOD further continued, “One learns from his failure, competition makes a person stronger to innovate better; competition is something that proves that you are laid back now and you are not innovating any more and time to be awake…it is a wake up call”

  Periyasamy interrupted, “Sorry for my reaction without thinking, how do we mitigate competition?”

  God Continued, “Mitigating competition

  1.Don’t be laid back to let the competition be created

  2.Learn from the competition to make yourself better

  3.Don’t compete to fail by way of reacting

  4.At times, compliment with the competition for a collective WIN

  Never sleep over the competency that has been gained over the years; Competency should be continually evolved to remain as core competency forever; Otherwise, core competency shall become core complacency”

  GOD continued, “Even Big Brands can get erased overnight if the timed innovation is not executed and the core competency is not continually evolved to adapt to the present and the future; One of the major victims of complacency is the well known American Telecom giant and the winner of timed innovation is the well known Korean giant especially in terms of smart phones”.

  GOD further continued, “Core competency is a track record of the past but ‘Consistently Core Competency (CCC)’ requires timed innovation and continually adapting to change; so the organisation should ensure the ‘Consistency in Competence’ is constantly resourced to mitigate the complacency; If one has to remain always over the top, never pause, continue to innovate and execute on time” God continued.

  Periyasamy interrupted, “ Oh, you seem to have the knowledge of OTT (Over the Top) contents as well”

  GOD paused for a while and said, “Well, Googles, Apples and Samsungs are on top of the world today as they are not tired of being the top innovators of the world”

  God noticed another note on the desk that read..

  ‘Show me a thoroughly satisfied man and I will show you a failure’ - Thomas Alva Edison

  8. Triple R analysis – Motivation behind the bitten apple

  Periyasamy continued with his excitement and asked, “When I was interviewed by FUI, they mentioned that the ownership was lacking with my predecessor. I did not have the guts to ask them, if that is the case, why it took two years for the FUI board to sack him?”

  GOD replied, “So, you now have all the guts to ask me?! I can give you a two different perception to this; first of all, the ownership is not instilled but it should be inherent. FUI board didn’t exhibit the ownership to find a qualified CEO at the first place;

  Second of all, you failed to exhibit the ownership by not asking the board members why they did take two years to realise the lack of ownership in the predecessor; this shows that you are more scared of the board members than the success for which you have taken up this assignment”

  Periyasamy answered quickly with a shaking tone, “I disagree with you GOD; I wanted to take up the opportunity first and question the board when I meet with the success by settling the current mess and winning the deal”

  God smiled with a relief and continued, “Well, you speak sense at last, my loving human”

  Periyasamy said with confidence, “Thanks GOD; I need your advice how to harvest ownership among the team members so that they are self motivated to complete their assignment”

  GOD paused for a while and continued, “Well…., one can not be instilled with the ownership but can be motivated to harvest the ownership within;

  Every individual has their own passion and has their own motive to take up the ownership; Find what motivates the particular individual to help him/her achieve the final success through achieving success to himself/herself.”

  Periyasamy is not well connected with the answer and obviously not satisfied and continued, “Hmm….., just this morning, I approached one of my staff and asked him how can I help him to achieve his target date of completion; You know what… he questioned back with the smile, when did we start?”

  GOD interrupted, “This is the mistake a leader can make, if an individual is not given a clear mandate, it is a failure of leadership, that is by you, did you realize you need to start the RRR analysis??”

  Periyasamy wondered, “ What is RRR analysis… Relax, Retreat and Rejoice?!”

  GOD interrupted, “Well you are already done with Relax, Retreat and Rejoice, it is time to Recoup”

  God continued, “When you start something in the middle of the crisis, there are two options with you;

  One is to continue the crisis from the point where it was taken over by you without looking backward but by just looking forward;

  Second option is, Reset the whole process occurred until that time; Review thoroughly what went wrong; then Restart with a winning strategy that all the team members are approved of and capable of;

  It looks like your situation needs a Reset, Review and Restart (RRR) analysis as your team members are not even aware of what and when of the assignment they have been assigned with”

  GOD further continued, “ Turning the failure into success is possible only if one knows the root cause of the failure; once the root cause is known, there is a good probability of turning into a success at a rapid pace b
ut with a good leadership, team and strategy”

  After a short pause, GOD asked, “ Do you know how the leaders inspires the world by simple visuals? for example, a bitten apple!”

  Periyasamy thought for a while and got so excited, “ya…hoo… bitten Apple? Are you talking about Steve, the unbeaten and unforgettable personality of the world!”

  GOD stopped kind of laughing loud by seeing the excitement in Periyasamy and said, “You should be aware that bitten apple can get oxidised if it is not eaten on time”,

  Periyasamy said, “ of course I know, what’s the big deal about that…”

  GOD said, “Of course! there is a big… deal about that… that clearly demonstrates how the world’s most innovative leaders can differentiate themselves from others”

  Periyasamy wondered, “ What is the hidden thought about a bitten apple?”

  GOD continued, “a bitten apple can be eaten afresh only when it is eaten before it gets oxidised; in the same sense, innovation has to be continued in time before it loses its traction with the users; users are always motivated to stick to the particular brand as far as it offers the freshness and newness”

  GOD looked into the eyes of Periyasamy and continued, “a bitten apple always reminds the innovator to continue to stay motivated to be on the
