Handling His Talent ARC

My eyes scanned over the accompanying editorial. There wasn’t much detail other than she’d collapsed and had been taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Maybe she had moved on, but I needed to know if she was okay. I also deserved an explanation about her and that fucker Ford.
Not even bothering to pack a bag or run a comb through my hair, I jumped in my car and headed to the airport. Because there were no direct flights to Cornwall, I would have to connect through London, but I would see her in less than three hours. Then I would get the answers I needed.
Chapter 12 - Alex
Shocked and in disbelief, I lay in the hospital bed covered with over-starched blankets and stared at the ceiling. The doctor confirmed what I’d known. I was pregnant. It must have happened the last night Brock and I were together before the movie wrapped.
The doctor explained the pain was caused by my ligaments stretching to accommodate the babies. That and the morning sickness had left me dehydrated.
Twins.
In eight months, I would give birth to not one but two babies.
Brock needed to know sooner rather than later, and if he wanted to be part of their lives, I would never stand in his way. But I expected nothing from him. I didn’t expect him to fall on his knees and propose or move to London. He would probably have a hundred questions about Ford and me.
In the eyes of the world, we were a couple. The gossip blogs were filled with blurry photos of us, along with questions about who I was and if we were in a relationship. The paparazzi had been stalking us for days waiting for the money shot, and boy, had they gotten it.
Ford walked into the room with the massive peanut butter shake I’d been craving. “How are you feeling?” he asked, handing the creamy goodness over.
“Better,” I said, then took a large, satisfying slurp. “Thanks again for staying overnight and for getting me this shake. I’m sorry. So much for not attracting any attention. Noah will never hire me again.”
“I couldn’t leave my babysitter alone. And don’t worry about Noah.” He perched on the side of the bed and patted the back of my hand. “I know it’s none of my business, but you have to tell Brock. I’m sure he’s already seen the photos and is thinking the worst. From all accounts, Isabella did quite the job on him. Like everyone else, he probably thinks we’re a thing.”
“I know,” I said, and sighed. “I’ll call him soon and explain.”
“A little birdy told me he’s in Ireland and that he bought a house there. You could fly over and see him.”
I didn’t think he would actually buy the cottage—our cottage. Images of our kids running through the meadows jumped into my head, of us spending summer days exploring the countryside, of laughter filled Christmases and vacations. “What if he tells me to get lost?” Tears dripped down my cheeks. “What if he wants nothing to do with the babies or me?”
“Hush, sweet girl.” Ford took the milkshake out of my hands, set it on the nightstand, then wrapped his arms around me. “He loves you. I know he does. And you love him.”
A few seconds later, the door slammed open. Ford jerked away. Brock glared at both of us, anger seething in his eyes. With his crumpled clothes and scraggly hair and beard, he looked more like a vagabond and not one of Hollywood’s hottest leading men.
I didn’t care how he looked. I loved the man standing in front of me. My heart wanted and needed only him.
“So, it’s true.” He gritted his teeth before continuing. “I can’t believe I was such a fucking fool.”
Ford slid off the edge of the bed and got in Brock’s face. “Open your eyes, you idiot. She’s not my type.”
Confusion creased Brock’s forehead. “What are you talking about? Your pictures are everywhere. You’re holed up in a cliff-side love nest.”
Ford gave his eyes a dramatic roll. “Fake news. Her pussy doesn’t interest me. I’m interested in dicks, pricks, and cocks. The bigger, the better. I’ll leave you two alone.” Before he left the room, he warned Brock, “You hurt her, and I’ll hurt you. Don’t think I can’t or won’t.”
When we were alone, Brock paced the room for a few minutes, and when he stopped walking, he stood by the bed. “What’s going on, Alex?”
I busied myself by smoothing my hands across my blankets. “If you mean between Ford and me. Nothing. In case you didn’t catch his drift, he’s gay.”
He shrugged. “Doesn’t mean I still don’t hate him for being an asshole. I meant, why are you in the hospital?”
I wanted to blurt out that I was carrying his babies, but the words stuck in my throat.
“When I saw the photos of you with Ford, I lost my shit. I wanted to get shitfaced again, but I’ve been drunk a lot since, well, since we walked away from each other.” He closed his eyes and swallowed hard. When he opened them again, it was as if the fight had gone out of him. “I love you. I shouldn’t have let you walk away. What we had was more than just a fling. The way I want to possess you terrifies me. I’ve never experienced the all-consuming love I have for you ever.” His words thickened, and his voice cracked. “In this business, everyone is fickle and false. Sometimes it’s hard to accept there are genuine people who won’t stab you in the back as soon as something better comes along. I’m sorry for a lot of things, but most of all, I’m sorry for not telling you how I felt.”
My heart clenched at the sincerity in his words, but before I told him how much I loved him, I needed to tell him the reason I was in the hospital.
“There’s something you need to know.” I chewed on the inside of my lip so hard, I tasted blood. “Something that will make you even more terrified.”
“Tell me.” He took my hand in his. That one gesture brought me more comfort than I could ever have imagined. “Doesn’t matter what. Tell me. I’m never leaving your side for as long as I live.”
I blew out a long, lung-emptying breath. Not daring to look at him, I squeezed my eyes shut. “I’m pregnant. That’s why Ford was carrying me. I fainted. I’m going to be a mum, and you’re going to be a dad.”
A stunned silence followed.
Seconds maybe minutes passed before Brock finally spoke. “Look at me.”
With my heart pounding, I opened my eyes and scanned his face searching for signs of disappointment or anger. What I saw melted my heart. Tears swam in his eyes, and I knew everything would be okay.
“Nothing anyone has ever said to me has ever made me feel this happy.”
“Not even, ‘and the Oscar goes to’?”
He chuckled. “Not even. I love you, Alexandria Jenkins.” He reached out and placed a hand on my stomach. “I love you, and I will love our baby.”
“Babies.”
“W-what?”
“We’re going to have twins.”
“Twins? Twins!” Shock and excitement bubbled in his laughter. “Marry me, Alex. I’ll be the best husband and dad in the world. I’ll do anything for you and our babies.”
I placed my hand on top of his, bliss filling me to bursting. “Nothing would make me happier than for you to be my husband and for us to be a family. I love you, Brock Adams. I think I’ve loved you from the second I walked into Noah’s office.”
When we kissed, it was the deepest, sexiest, most sincere kiss we’d ever shared and chased all my fears away. If I hadn’t quite believed how he felt about me before, I did now. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t afraid of love.
Epilogue - Alex
Brock walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. “Happy sexiversary.”
I breathed out a contented sigh and laid my head against his firm chest. “It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since you seduced me in this garden.”
“You knew the second you opened your bedroom door wearing nothing but that t-shirt what would happen.”
I dug my toes into the lush, green grass and gazed at the meadows, glowing ethereally in the dusk. “I’m glad I decided to come with you that day.”
He chuckle
d, the dirty undertones hardening my nipples. “You most definitely did come with me that day.”
I playfully elbowed him in the ribs. “Look at us now, married with two tearaway toddlers.”
He dropped a kiss on top of my head, and I inhaled his scent. “I wouldn’t change a thing about our crazy life together.”
“Neither would I.”
I pulled back from my love so I could turn and look up into his eyes. They showed all the deep feelings he had, slightly closed and content. Dragging a finger under his chin to feel the slight stubble, I pulled Brock to me so I could taste his lips. He pressed his mouth to mine, exhaling slightly. Wrapping his arms around me, he pulled me into his muscular body. I felt so small and safe in his powerful arms. My husband’s embrace was the best place in the entire world.
We’d waited to say I do until the babies were weaned and walking. Our wedding was a small affair with only our closest friends and family in attendance. The day, much like the past two years, had been filled with laughter and love.
Brock had arranged for his mom and dad to stay with Daisy and Aiden at our home in London overnight. He’d surprised me by whisking me away to our cottage. We’d fly home tomorrow and would be back before the kids woke up from their morning nap. We were rarely apart as a family, not even when Brock filmed overseas.
When he’d spent three months in Australia filming a post-apocalyptic thriller, the babies and I went with him. Whenever he wasn’t working, he was with us. He was the greatest dad and the greatest husband.
I’d taken extended leave from work but planned to go back when the twins started nursery school. I still kept my fingers in the game by taking care of contracts and negotiating fees.
We’d introduced a babysitting department, especially for unfocused or out of control artists. When my team took the reins, schedules were adhered to, scripts and books were completed and turned in on time.
These days Ford Linder was in a good place emotionally and mentally. He and Anton had fallen in love. They married six months ago, and their surrogate was three months pregnant with their baby girl.
While Ford and Brock would never be besties, they had on-screen chemistry, and fans adored seeing them together. They’d signed on to film a war movie with top billing for both of them.
Jemma, from what I heard, was still Jemma—backstabbing, backbiting, and bitching. I hoped one day she’d find her peace and happiness like I had mine.
Noah had taken some time off to destress and unplug. He was currently off-the-grid somewhere in Alaska. The only way we could reach him was by telegram. Perhaps he would find someone to love during his time in The Last Frontier.
Brock dropped his hands from my waist and stepped away. “Close your eyes. I have a surprise.”
Butterflies danced in my stomach. Brock’s surprises always got me excited. Sometimes they were sexy and involved multiple orgasms, but other times they were romantic. For my birthday last month, he’d created a memory wall filled with photos from my childhood to the present day. He’d somehow persuaded my mother to dig through the attic to find baby photos.
My relationship with my mother was as frosty as ever. Perhaps time would help melt the years of hurt, but I doubted either of us would ever get past the pain. She blamed me for ruining her life, and I blamed her for my trust issues, amongst other things.
After a few minutes of shuffling and moving about the garden, Brock said, “You can open your eyes now.” I blinked and couldn’t help laughing. On the grass lay a red and white checkered picnic blanket and a wicker basket that held champagne and strawberries.
“Oh, my goodness. Everything is exactly like that first day.”
He took my hand in his and guided me to sit down. “From now on, every year on this date, we’re going to come to the cottage, spend the day making love, drinking champagne and eating strawberries.”
“It’s a date.” I straddled his lap and took his face in my palms. “I love you so much.”
“And I love you so much.” His hands cupped my ass, and he dragged me into his lap, where I could feel his cock hardening. “Without you, my life would have no purpose and no meaning. You brought light into my darkness.”
“And you chased away my fears. The day we met was the beginning of my life.”
My lips touched off his, and I buried my fingers in his hair. Our kisses were rapid, desperate, and hurried. Moving away from his mouth, I kissed his jawline and bit his ears lightly.
Brock’s hands moved from my back, down my sides, to the front of my body, where he slid them up under my shirt and beneath my bra. Desperate to get more touch, I pulled back, ripping my blouse off and reaching behind my back to unhook my bra. My breasts were exposed to the cool air. My nipples were already hard. Sitting up straighter, I pressed my bust into Brock’s face, letting him lick and suck my tender, swollen nipples.
Gasping at the touch of his warm mouth at my sensitive buds, I felt my pussy get wetter and tighten. “I need you,” I gasped. “I need you now.”
In an awkward dance where we didn’t want to stop touching, Brock held me and pulled my pants off. Our stomachs were skin to skin. I could feel the heat of his body enveloping mine as he lay me back onto the blanket. His mouth kept at my breasts as he reached down to free himself of his own pants. Soon, all our clothing was gone. We were wrapped around each other, never wanting to stop feeling that precious contact.
Brock slipped an arm under my back so he could pull my hips forward. His long, hard cock pushed against my lower lips. Opening them slightly, he glided his fat cockhead inside me.
“Yes,” I breathed. “More.”
Turning his head, my love paused for a minute. “You feel so good,” he gasped. “So warm and wet.”
Grabbing my hips, he pulled me down onto his length, filling my pussy and making me moan. His body covered mine, so he was inside me and all around me. Strong arms held me and held his body up slightly, keeping his full weight off me.
Moving only his hips, Brock thrust in and out of my pussy. The feeling of him drove me nuts and made my core tighten. I ran my fingers through his hair then reached back and clawed at the grass. We were a hot, sweaty mess, but it felt so good.
“Cum for me, baby,” he whispered.
“Yes, sir.”
My body relaxed and tightened at the same time. My pussy quivered, pulling Brock’s cock deeper and begging for his seed. We had two babies at home, but I knew we both wanted more. Our house would be full of children and love, and I hoped to make another on this date.
He stiffened over me, pumping me a few more times as he came hard.
After, Brock held me close. He kissed my breasts and my cheeks in reverence.
“I’m never letting you go,” he breathed, tightening his embrace around me. I believed him.
There wasn’t a luckier woman alive. I had everything I could possibly want and more.
