A Dark Horizon (Final Dawn, Book 3)

“No problem,” he replied, distractedly. “I’ll be down here if you need me.”
Rogan and Klik followed Jack up the stairs and into the cockpit. It seemed oddly empty without Brackitt tending to the dashboard. A worrying thought struck Jack. Who would fix the ship when she broke something now?
He peered out her windows. The purple streaks of nebulas provided a breathtaking view, but otherwise he could see nothing out of the ordinary.
“What is it?” he asked. “What are we looking for?”
A blue star-map popped up from the Adeona’s hologram table. A small dot pulsed somewhere out in the middle of nowhere.
“These coordinates are in almost the exact same spot as where we picked Jack up after he first came through the wormhole,” said Rogan. She grew concerned. “But the time stamp is from only a few hours ago. Why are you showing us this, Adi?”
“Well, when I said I needed you to come look at something,” the ship replied, “what I really meant was listen.”
She played a message over her speakers.
“…hear us? I repeat, do any other Arks read me? …en route to… This is Admiral Blatch of the… calling all…”
The Adeona switched the message off before it could loop back on itself. It was a jumbled, garbled mess full of hisses and pops, clearly recorded on some very old tech.
Rogan slowly turned to Jack, her face frozen in shock.
“That broadcast,” she said, “was in English.”
Jack opened and shut his mouth like a goldfish. There were too many words trying to squeeze out all at once. He turned and slumped into the nearest chair.
“Oh my God,” he eventually managed. “The Final Dawn. She made it.”

Reviews are the most powerful tool in my arsenal when it comes to getting attention for my books. As an indie author, I don’t have quite the same financial muscle as a New York publisher. But what I do have is something even more effective:
A committed and loyal bunch of readers.
Honest reviews of my books help bring them to the attention of other readers.
If you’ve enjoyed this book I would be very grateful if you could spend just five minutes leaving a review (it can be as short as you like) on the book’s Amazon page.
Thank you very much.
