I was more than happy to shake his hand because I knew I could suck all the heat energy out of his body and freeze him into a chunk of organic ice if he tried anything. I grabbed his hand and squeezed hard enough to grind his bones together, but not hard enough to break anything.
“Quite a firm grip you’ve got there, son,” Gray Eyes chuckled and pretended not to feel the pain.
“So we’re even?” I asked.
“All accounts are settled and the balance sheet is balanced. Your debt is paid in full.”
I said, “For Javier too?” I meant Golden Grill.
“Him too,” Gray Eyes assured. “I will talk to his people myself and set the record straight.”
“Good,” I said and released his hand.
He smiled and the scar that cut across his eye socket and eyebrow crinkled jovially, “If you don’t mind, we’ll see ourselves out.”
The two goons walked out first, followed by Gray Eyes, who smiled and pulled the door shut behind him.
I whipped out my Robot phone and texted Arnold, They’re coming out. Keep your eyes on them. They might try something. Text me if anything happens.
Kristy sighed, “I don’t trust that guy.”
“Me neither.”
“Do you think he’ll come back?”
“Yup,” I nodded. “When we least expect it.”
And that was how we permanently pissed off the biggest criminal mastermind in the northern hemisphere.
Would our actions tonight come back to bite us in the ass in short order?
Like a nasty bear trap.
CLANK!
Needless to say, when it bit down, Kristy and I would both have our pants around our ankles. Think about the implications of that until next time.
