“Well done,” Lady Juliet cried, clapping.

Not according to my knee, he thought, refusing to acknowledge the pain aloud. I’ll be leaning twice as hard on my cane tomorrow.

  It didn’t matter. She mattered.

Pulling her close, he brushed his lips against hers. Not insistently but gently; an invitation, not a demand. Her lips were soft and perfect, just as he’d imagined. That kiss decided it. His body told him everything he needed to know about the depth of his feelings. The sound she made, the way she clung to him, told him everything he needed to know about hers.

Taking her face into his hands, he kissed her again, long and deep, like he never had to stop. In minutes they would have no choice but to return to the car and go back to Cornwall; she would spend Christmas Eve with her mother, Letty, Dinah, and her faux husband, while he spent his with Mrs. Cobblepot. He had no idea what the future held, but he’d formed a new opinion about Christmas, one he would keep for the rest of his life.

  “Happy Christmas, Ben,” she whispered.

  “Happy Christmas, Juliet.”

  THE END

  From the Author

I hope you’ve enjoyed this story about Dr. Bones and Lady Juliet. Sometimes I like to write a story that’s just about people (and frequently, romance) without the heavy lifting of a murder mystery.

I intend to continue these novellas as inspiration strikes, collecting them under the series title, Magic of Cornwall.

The second novella, Dr. Bones and the Lost Love Letter, is available now. It takes place a couple of months after Dr. Bones and the Christmas Wish. If you liked the end of this novella, I think you’ll want to keep going.

As for the Dr. Bones mysteries, the next full-length novel will be called Friendship Can Be Fatal.

Thank you for reading. If you enjoyed this book, please consider returning to the retailer and leaving an honest review. Reader’s reviews are the lifeblood of modern book sales, making the difference between books that get noticed and books that quickly disappear.

  Cheers!
