I decide that if can keep him talking, maybe I can buy myself some time. “Figured what out?”

“What really happened to your parents that night.” His eyes narrow at me as he watches for my reaction.

My parents? What does he mean?

“See, someone like me doesn’t belong in the background. I’m a fucking leader. I belong in power. Your father was too much of a bitch to hold that VP position. Everyone knew it. All he ever talked about was keeping the peace and other bullshit. We are fucking outlaws, not goddamn altar boys.” His fist punches the nearest wall. “I knew that if an officer position opened up, I would be next in line. Shooter and I were always close. However, I also knew your jackass father hated me and I couldn’t take the chance that he might change Shooter’s mind.”

What is he saying? My parents got into an accident.

“Brake lines are a funny thing, you know. They’re meant to save your life, but they can also cost you if they are tampered with.” He winks at me and his insinuation hits me.

A sharp pain goes right through my chest. “You killed my parents?”

He raises his right hand. “Guilty as charged.”

  No.

  Panic rises in my body.

  He has to be lying.

“Do you know how sweet it was knowing I took their life as I was stealing your innocence?” His voice growls in my ear.

I try to swallow the bile that is rising in my throat.

  I’m going to be sick.

He’s going to kill me here and no one will know that he’s alive.

No one will know what he did to them.

  “You’re a coward,” I sneer at him.

He turns to me. “What the fuck did you just call me?”

I can see the anger in his face but I don’t care anymore. He’s going to kill me anyway. “You couldn’t earn your place, so you stole one. You didn’t even fight your own battle today, you let other men do it while you hid. You’re. A. Coward.”

He rears back and slaps me across the face. “Call me what you want, you little bitch, but I outsmarted all of the assholes you thought could protect you. None of them were smart enough to even consider the fact that maybe all of this convenient shit might be a setup.”

He pulls a chair in front of me. “Did you like my note and visits? Those idiots couldn’t even catch me when I was right under their noses. I’ve been in town for two months. I have to say, though, I think pressing the detonator and watching this place blow into a million pieces was my favorite part of this whole trip. Everyone was running around like helpless fools. Funniest shit I’ve seen in a while.” He laughs shaking his head as he stands up.

I look toward the door, but he steps in front of me. “Waiting for your little pyro? Don’t think he’ll be making it. You’re all mine, just like it always should have been. Do you know why I wanted you so bad that night? Because I had every intention of claiming you once you were legal in a few months, then fucking Torch started telling people that you’d be his. That he was waiting for you. I decided right then that there was no way I would let him have you before I did.”

His hand skims down my front, as it passes over my nipple a tear falls down my cheek.

“I remember these tears that night too.” He catches it before it falls from my face bringing his finger to his mouth and licking my sadness off with a smile. “They still taste just as sweet.”

“I always promised you that if you opened your mouth that I would come back for you and make you pay. Now it’s time for me to keep that promise.”

I close my eyes and wait for the darkness to take me.

  Chapter Twenty-Seven

  Torch

I pull the truck into the lot quietly, not wanting to make a lot of noise. Something told me that the asshole would bring her here; he wanted to bring her to the place that he took everything from her the first night.

  Predictable piece of shit.

My hand finds my gun as I pull it out of my waistband. I’m determined to make sure this fucker is really dead this time. I can hear voices as I walk closer to the door.

“It’s a shame you already chose to be a biker’s whore. I might have kept you alive, but I don’t want used goods. At least before, I knew my dick was the only one you ever had. Now that you’ve been opening those legs you sealed your fate.”

I can hear her crying and it makes my blood fucking boil. I want to charge in there, but I know that would be stupid. I have no idea where he is, and I don’t know if he is close enough to her that he could reach her first. If I’m not smart about this, both of us will end up worse than we started. Taking a few calming breaths I peek around one of the corners, ducking behind an overturned piece of furniture.

I try to listen and gauge where in the room he is. It’s quiet and that makes me nervous. I peek around the chair to see him standing behind her, his gun pointed at her head.

“Look at that, he did come.” Viper smiles at me. “No use staying hidden now.”

I don’t move trying to think of what my next move could be.

“Okay, let’s try this. I’ll count to three then I’ll put a hole in her. And we’ll keep going till you come out or she dies. One . . . two . . . ”

I stand up not wanting to call his bluff.

My eyes focus on her. She’s shaking and crying. Her head is trained on the floor and her cheek has a line of blood dripping down it.

“Aw, look he came to save you.” Viper bends down closer to her. “Don’t be rude. He came all this way. You could at least look at him.” She doesn’t respond. He crashes his elbow down onto the space between her neck and shoulder eliciting a cry of pain from her. “Look at him!”

“Don’t you fucking touch her again!” My gun is raised at him.

Tracie lifts her head up, and her red rimmed eyes meet mine. The look on her face breaks my goddamn heart.

“I suggest you toss your fucking gun or you’ll regret it.” His gun presses against her temple. “You might be wondering if you could hit me, but I guarantee I could still get a round off in her head. Toss the gun now.”

  Fuck.

I do as he says, tossing it over knowing I’m completely screwed now.

“Did you know that this is the room I fucked her in, Torch?” His eyes narrow at me as his free hand dips under her shirt.

My fists clench. “Get your hands off her.”

He laughs as he slowly moves down lower and Tracie begins to cry harder. “See, you’re not really in a position to tell me what the fuck to do.” He removes his hand. “You know you’re supposed to love this guy, he comes all this way just for you and you barely even look at him.”

I look at the woman that I love and see that she has completely broken down.

“You’ll have to excuse her, she’s a little distraught. It’s hard when you learn the truth after believing a lie for so long.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” By his demeanor it’s obvious that Viper has officially lost his goddamn mind. I need to get closer to them. I need to get the gun from him.

“Why don’t you tell him?” He nudges her with the gun and while he’s distracted I take a few steps sideways closing the distance between us little by little. “I fucking said tell him!”

She jumps as he screams. The rage inside of me is almost uncontrollable. I’m vibrating with the need to wrap my hands around his throat and drain the life from him.

“He-he . . .” She coughs and tries to catch her breath. “He killed my parents.”

My blood runs cold as I look at him, knowing from his shit-eating grin that it’s true.

  Holy shit.

No wonder she is so destroyed.

Finding this out on top of him being back.

“It’s sad finding out I took your parents on the same day I take your best friends from you, huh?” His face is so close to hers as he taunts her.

“They aren’t dead, you motherfucker.” His head snaps up. “I got them out before I came here. T
hey’re fine.”

Tracie’s eyes snap up to mine.

“Looks like you fucked that one up.” I shrug.

“Oh well, they were just a bonus. She’s the reason I came back.” His face is close to hers again. I take my chance, lunging at him, and knocking him over. At the same time, I hear the chair she was sitting on hit the floor.

My first instinct is to check on her but right now I need to get this gun. His hands are clasped around it, holding onto the piece for dear life. I roll so that I am able to kneel on his chest. Our hands are both wrapped around the gun, which is raised over his head. I shimmy up his chest and press my knee against his neck. He gasps as his airway begins to restrict. I need to make sure I only do this long enough for him to pass out. This is too humane of a way for this motherfucker to die. He needs to be alive so that we can have some fun with him. His eyes begin to close and when his fingers go slack and his arms drop, I remove my knee. I quickly feel for a pulse, relieved when I find one.

I can hear the sound of tires squealing on the dirt as I make my way over to Tracie. She’s passed out but she’s alive. I pull her onto my lap as the guys come charging into the room.

“Great timing,” I say as they all look at me, guns drawn.

I fill them in on everything as Twisted cuts Tracie’s hands free. “I think she hit her head when she fell. We need to call Doc. I also need a fucking real estate agent.”

I stand up and pick up Tracie not willing to let her go after being so scared that I would lose her.

I stop in front of Wrench. “Take that fucker to the warehouse and string him up. Tell the boys to have a ball, but he doesn’t die till I get to him.”

He gives me a quick nod as I walk out of the building with Tracie.

I will make this right, baby.

  He will pay.

  Chapter Twenty-Eight

  Tracie

I walk into the warehouse completely regretting my decision to come here. It’s been two days since everything happened and today is the day that they are finally going to kill the bastard. There isn’t one part of me that felt bad when Torch told me that they were taking turns torturing him.

I still can’t get over the fact that he was responsible for my parents’ death. He is a monster in every way possible and he deserves everything he’s gotten.

Torch tried to warn me away from coming. He told me that he isn’t sure I can stomach seeing what he looks like right now. Apparently the guys can get really creative with their torture methods when they want to.

I need to be here. I need to know that he’s gone. I thought I was free of him before and I wasn’t. This time, I need to see for myself that he is really gone for good. That he can never haunt me again.

The stench of burnt flesh and blood hits me and I fight the urge to puke. I don’t have to ask what it is, or rather who it is. We turn a corner and I see him hanging from a metal chain attached to a beam. His shoulders look as if they are dislocated by the way he is hanging. His entire body is covered in marks to the point that I’m not sure I can really see more than a couple inches of unmarked skin at any point on his body.

There is a bucket under him collecting blood as it drips down so they don’t have to worry about cleaning it off the floor when they’re done.

Laid out all over the floors are enough tools to open a small hardware store. Each one covered in dried blood.

A normal person should feel emotion looking at someone in this condition, but I don’t. I hate him so much that I don’t think there is anything that could make me feel for him. He is the very definition of evil. There isn’t one ounce of good in him so he doesn’t deserve an ounce of compassion from me.

I nod at Twisted as he walks in front of Viper.

“Viper, today is the day you will pay the ultimate price for your sins. You have taken multiple members of this family. You’ve attacked and hurt others. You will no longer have an ability to cause anyone harm. It’s time you go to ground.” He nods at Torch.

Apparently Torch asked Twisted if he could be the one to do it. “I have wanted to do this since you dared touch that girl. Death is too good for you, but it’s what we all need.”

With one loud pop Viper’s head falls to the side.

  He’s gone.

I take a breath and let myself realize that I can finally feel free of him.

He can’t come back from this.

He’ll never hurt me or anyone I love again.

Torch takes my hand and we walk out of the warehouse. Once we get outside he turns to me. “Are you okay?”

I shake my head. “No, but I will be.”

I wrap my arms around him letting him engulf me.

  My shield.

  My home.

  My love.

  Epilogue

  Torch

  One year later.

It’s the first family day at the rebuilt clubhouse and everyone is in high spirits. Everything has been quiet since all of the craziness of last year. The club has been able to function without any attacks on us, and we even repaid our debt to the Hellions.

The families finally have a place to come and celebrate together again. The girls bring out all the food, placing it on the long tables as the kids run around dodging us all in their never-ending game of tag.

Twisted stands at the front of the room and whistles to call everyone’s attention. The room quiets as the man who took this club from shambles to success waits to talk to us. “Thank you all for coming out today. Being able to have a place to do these things again feels great. Before we eat, I’d like us all to take a moment of silence and remember the people we lost the last time we were all together.” He dips his head and we all follow suit, saying a silent prayer. “May they rest in peace. I hope you all have a great day.” He raises his beer bottle and we all do the same taking a drink.

He joins me and Whip at our table in the back of the room. “How is everything boys?”

  We both just nod.

“All right, listen. Nikki isn’t telling anyone yet, but what the hell. You guys keep this to yourselves, but we found out a month ago that she’s pregnant.” He smiles as he takes a drink of his beer.

  Holy shit.

“No fucking way,” Whip blurts out. Twisted cocks an eyebrow at him in confusion. “Between us, Lucy took a test two weeks ago. We’re having another one.”

  My mouth drops open.

“Damn, at least we can commiserate with each other, brother.” They clink beer bottles before drinking.

I clear my throat. “So, last night, Tracie took a pregnancy test . . .”

“Are you shitting me?” Twisted looks at me. “Are you telling me that all our girls are pregnant at the same damn time? What are the fucking chances?” He shakes his head with a smile.

“Wait a minute.” They both look at me. “We’re all fucked.”

“What are you taking about, Torch?” Whip laughs.

“All our girls are pregnant at the same time. You remember one of your girls with the pregnancy hormones? Now there will be three of them. They’re gonna gang up on us like some mob mentality shit. We’re. Fucked.”

Their faces drop as they realize what I’m saying.

The girls walk toward us all of them talking and laughing.

“Hey, guys, why do you all look like someone just died?” Nikki jokes as she leans against Twisted.

Because the pregnant trifecta might decide to kill one of us.

It’s going to be a long nine months.
