“What, my dear?” Beryl asked.
“Look what I’ve put Carol through all my silliness,” Joy said. She looked down at her hands in her lap.
“I think she’ll understand, dear. They mostly do,” Beryl said.

“Oh my god, that’s great news,” Angela said. “You should get a bottle of champagne. And maybe some flowers, Godiva might be required.”
“What for?” Joy said.
“Once again, you’re so dense. You have some major apologizing to do. You’ve broken Carol’s heart and you should do your best to repair it with pleasure.”
“I’m in so much trouble. What if she won’t take me back? When Carol and Debra were fighting in the foyer Carol said Debra had ruined her life twice.”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure you were number two on the heartbreak list. You best get over there,” Angela said.
“I don’t think food, drink, and flowers are going to cut it. Should I text first? Maybe she really doesn’t want to see me,” Joy said, looking at her phone.
Angela snatched her phone away. “Really? You’re going to do it like that. Over the freaking phone. Text her? Ugh. I can’t believe you,” she said.
“I should give her a heads up. That gives us both an out,” Joy said.
“Do you want out?”
“Of course not. I love Carol more than I’ve ever loved anyone before.”
“Then fight for it. Get the food, wine, and flowers. It’ll be a nice offering and it’s hard to turn down the love of your life while she’s holding presents. That portends good things,” Angela said. “And great make-up sex.”
Joy smiled. “I’d settle for forgiveness.”
“Shoot high.”
“I will.”

Carol opened the door. She had been crying. She looked at the flowers, bottle of wine, and box of chocolates and smiled. “I’m so sorry,” they said, simultaneously.
“I thought you were here to get the rest of your things,” Carol said, taking the flowers. “Until you showed up with these.” She sniffed the red roses.
Damn! Angela had been right. Peace offerings were a good thing. Maybe she and Joy were getting less dense after all. Joy would have to eat some crow now.
Carol took the wine and chocolates and set them on the side table. She scooped Joy up in her arms. “I’ve missed you so much,” Carol said.
“It was only three days... of absolute hell,” Joy said. Beans rubbed against her legs and put his white paws up on her thigh, indicating he wanted to be held. “Oh, look at you,” Joy said. She let go of Carol and picked him up. “Group hug,” Joy said.
“He missed you so much. We both sat around glum. I should never have let Debra in. I didn’t think,” Carol said.
“And I doubted you. I should’ve stood by you when it came to Debra. Now no more talk about her. Her name shall be banished from our lexicon,” Joy said.
“I’ll try,” Carol said. Both of them knowing that with a fifteen-year history, Carol’s stories, the ones Joy wanted to hear because she wanted to know everything about her, would contain Debra. But soon it wouldn’t hurt to think about Debra and her cunning ways and how she had almost broken them apart.
“I love you so much,” Joy said, setting the cat down.
“I think you need to show me,” Carol said. She kissed Joy deeply and intensely. She led her to the couch, pushing her back onto it. “Things started here and we’re going to finish some unfinished business.”
“And what would that be?” Joy said.
“Three days of deprivation,” Carol said, pulling at Joy’s trousers.
“You really did miss me,” Joy gasped as Carol thrust her fingers inside of her.
“I have missed being inside you, feeling your skin against mine, your mouth on mine.”
“I love it when you talk dirty,” Joy said. She moved her hips against Carol’s thrusts. They matched their pace until Joy couldn’t stand it anymore and she exploded in orgasm, her body shuddering and bucking.
“I want you in my mouth,” Joy said, pulling Carol’s jeans off. They slipped over her hips and Joy pulled down Carol’s panties, sliding them down her sexy thighs. Carol positioned herself on Joy’s warm mouth. Joy flicked her tongue against Carol’s sweet spot. Carol moved harder against her, moaning. She came hard and fast and then she whispered, “I want you inside me.”
Joy obliged as Carol moved down her stomach until she reached Joy’s sex. Carol took Joy’s hand and thrust her fingers inside. She moved slowly, grinding against Joy, her eyes closed looking more beautiful than ever, Joy thought.
“I want us to come together,” Carol said. She put her hand behind her back and entered Joy. They synchronized their thrusts and bucks.
“I can’t wait any longer,” Joy said, her voice ragged.
“Now,” Carol said, thrusting hard into Joy. Joy matching her thrusts. They glided against one another until it felt like the Fourth of July, both exploding in a supernova of orgasm.
As they lay spent in each other’s arms on the comfy couch, Joy said, “Fern was right. Make up sex is great.”
Carol laughed. “What do you say we move this to the bedroom so we can shut the door?” Carol asked as Beans jumped up on the couch with them.
“I think that’s a brilliant idea,” Joy said.
“I’m full of ‘em when it comes to us,” Carol said, taking Joy’s hand and leading her to the bedroom, where they gently shut the door.
The End.
