There’s the very distinctive sound of a body hitting the floor from the bathroom before Lisa warbles, “Ow, Dad, what the—”
“Goddamn it, Diane!” Emery’s father is abruptly at the top of the steps, glaring down at his wife and pointing a stern finger. “We are not keeping the goat! Do you have any—”
He jolts when Lisa streaks past him, down the steps, past her mother, and out the front door.
“Puppy!”
