A Tale of Two Cities Page 6

by Alexandra Warren

I couldn’t have agreed more since I was already thinking of ways we could get this little group trip poppin’ again in the near future - sans the group. Not that I didn’t enjoy spending time with the girls and celebrating Jennifer, but meeting and spending time with Lincoln was most definitely the highlight.

Pressing my hands into his shoulders, I moved to climb on the bed and straddle his lap as I told him, “In that case, I should be thanking you too.”

“How about we thank each other right quick?” he suggested, already kissing at my neck the same way he had done the night before. But the fact that I had accidentally left the door open behind me had me gently pushing him away.

“Our folks are right outside of that door. And I need to pack up my stuff. My flight is in a few hours.”

Instead of backing up, he only squeezed me tighter when he whined, “Noooo. Don’t leave me. Not yet. It’s too soon.”

While his reaction was flattering as hell, the truth was, “Unfortunately, it’s time for me to get back to reality.”

Between the shop and Lani, I was already dreading the pile of tasks I’d be going home to. But instead of letting me prematurely sulk about it, Lincoln nipped my chin with a kiss before he asked, “Well what do I have to do to become a part of your reality, Savannah? Since this weekend was obviously some sort of fairytale.”

The question caught me a bit offguard since… “I… can’t say I have an answer for that at the moment.”

His disappointed reaction had me quick to recover, “I mean, not like that. I want you to be a part of my reality, Lincoln. But with us living in two different cities, I can’t say that I know exactly how to do it.”

He nodded in understanding, taking a moment before he looked me straight in my eyes and asked, “Are you willing to figure it out with me?”

The sincerity in his look, the sincerity in his tone, had me ready to agree to just about anything he had to say. But the fact that he seemed so serious about continuing whatever this was beyond our trip had me grinning hard as hell, even when I teased, “Depends on how thankful you are.”

In one swift move, he had me on my back, his morning wood pressed into the seat of my panties as he insisted, “My sober dick is even better than my drunk one. You sure you want those problems?”

Gnawing into my lip, I countered, “Considering I’m not sure when I’ll see you again? Absolutely.” Then I maneuvered so that I was on top, straddling his lap again as he rested on his back and reminded me, “The wedding is only a few weeks away.”

“Well, yeah. But I’ll have my daughter with me, so that’ll be different.”

He wasn’t too concerned about that, easily getting rid of the t-shirt I had slept in - his t-shirt - as he insisted, “She seems like a responsible young lady. I’m sure she won’t mind me taking you to my crib for a little… refresher course.”

“If I’m really about to go without this for a few weeks, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna need a lot more than just a little refresher course, Lincoln.”

“Not if I give you something to hold onto,” he said, pushing my panties to the side and dipping a finger inside of me, causing me to tip forward onto my palms.

He continued his in-and-out rhythm, using his thumb to play with my clit before adding a second finger. And while I would’ve taken any bit of Lincoln I could get - finger fucks included - I knew the only thing that would really hold me over was his dick that was practically begging me to ride it.

  So I did.

I lifted just enough to free his dick from his boxers and sank down on top of it with a gratified moan, the pleased look on Lincoln’s face as I adjusted to his girth only turning me on even more as I found my groove soon after. It didn’t take long for his heavy hands to end up at my hips as he met me stroke for stroke, my head thrown back and my eyes tight as I gave and took everything I could while Lincoln did the same.

It was the perfect exchange of energy, truly symbolic of what the entire trip had been for us. And regardless of the fact that we hadn’t figured out how things were going to work beyond this, I knew I had to get more of him.

  I deserved more.

Falling forward, I kissed Lincoln hard as he stroked me harder from below, his arms wrapped around me in a hug as I felt weightless on top of him. And knowing this was the last of it until the weekend of the wedding, I never wanted him to stop; never wanted this to end.

But unfortunately, all good things had to come to an end. So instead of prolonging the inevitable, I let go; allowing the orgasm to rocket through me with a vengeance as Lincoln warned me about his own. And I moved just in time to catch his nut to my stomach, the sight making me lick my lips as I stroked him empty with my hand.

My touch made him shiver, his hands over his face as he stifled his moan before sighing my name. And after meeting his eyes with a faux-innocent look, he said, “Fuck waiting until the wedding weekend. I’m booking a flight to you ASAP.”

I started to giggle until Lincoln panically yanked the comforter over me and shouted, “Rod, what the fuck?! How long have you been standing there?!”

  Rod?

With just my eyes, I peeked from underneath to see him heading towards us as he replied, “Long enough to know I’ve been betrayed. After last night, I really thought I was over you, Vanny. But did you really have to go and twist the knife in my back like this?”

“This nigga…” Lincoln groaned, shaking his head as Jennifer busted in the room and yanked Rod by the arm while scolding, “Rod, if you don’t get the… I’m sorry, y’all. He hasn’t meditated yet. Proceed.” Then she slammed the door behind them, Lincoln and I looking over to each other before bursting with laughter.

“So I’m sleeping with a certified heartbreaker, huh? Hopefully there’s not a gang of other niggas out there just like him,” Lincoln teased, pressing a simple kiss against my lips that told me he was far from concerned about the possibility.

Still, to put him at ease, I replied, “Trust me. You have nothing to worry about. Rod was a lone wolf. Truly disturbed as I’m sure you can tell.”

He nodded. “Yeah, I can tell. But I can also tell why a nigga would be crazy about your pretty ass like that. I better be careful before I end up the same way.”

Now I was the one teasing him, stealing a kiss before I asked, “It’s a little too late for that, don’t you think?”

“I think… I need one more round before we get you to the airport.”

“And I think… I agree with you,” I replied with a grin, doing just that before finally showing our faces to the rest of our company.

While Ariel and Jasmine argued over who called our “love connection” first, Derek and Jennifer were the ones taking the credit since it was their idea to do a joint bachelor-bachelorette party in the first place. And as for Rod… well, he eventually found some identical weirdo to spend the rest of his time in Vegas with, easily forgetting about little ol’ me until he sent me off with a polite hug before I headed to the airport.

Since Lincoln acted like he couldn’t stand to see me go just yet, he made the trip to the airport with me, our Uber ride quiet as he looked out of the window with me snuggled up under his arm in the backseat. And I suppose the drive to the airport wasn’t long enough for him considering he decided to hang out with me inside the terminal until it was time for me to go through security.

He waited until the absolute last minute to ask, “Are you sure you gotta leave?”

With a sad smile, I nodded. “Yes, Lincoln. TSA Pre-Check gives me a little leg up, but yes. It’s time.”

Grabbing both of my hands, he pressed, “I mean like, leave the city. Already. You can’t stay another day or two? With me?”

While his request initially shocked the hell out of me, I found myself giving it some thought; something I would’ve never done in the past since I absolutely hated changing plans. And it wasn’t only the fact that I was really considering it that had me shook, but also… is he serious?

  As if he co
uld hear my thoughts, he continued, “I’ll cover your flight change. Hotel too. I’m just… I’m not ready for this to end yet, Savannah.”

In my head, I knew I should’ve been taking my ass to the security line so I wouldn’t miss my flight. But in my heart - and in Lincoln’s eyes - I had a feeling I would’ve been missing out on something truly special. Still, I wasn’t the only one to consider here. So instead of making an impulsive decision, I found myself pulling my phone out of my pocket to make an important phone call.

Lincoln looked confused until he heard me say, “Hey Lani Bear. I saw you guys won the volleyball tournament. Congratulations.”

I shouldn’t have been surprised when, instead of responding to that topic, my inquisitive daughter asked, “Mommy, what’s wrong? You haven’t called me Lani Bear since I was like seven.”

Peeking up at Lincoln who was waiting patiently, I flashed him a smile as I got to the real point of my call. “So… how would you feel about Mommy staying away a day, or two, longer?”

There was a long pause, and I almost told her never mind and that I’d be home soon until she asked, “Mom, you’re changing plans at the last minute? On your own? Willingly? Are you being held hostage? Did you get into a gambling debt you have to pay back before you can leave? Did y’all lose Auntie Jen on a rooftop like that movie Hangover?”

“Lani, who let you watch that movie?”

Her little giggles in response reminded me of my own. “Daddy did. We watched it the same night you left for your trip because I asked him what Las Vegas was really like.”

“And that’s what he showed you?” I groaned with a hand to my forehead in disgust; though the mention of her father helped me make an executive decision when I continued, “Anyway. Tell your father I’ll be back on Mon… Tuesday. I’ll back on Tuesday, so he’ll have to take you to school and stuff.”

“But what about the salon?” she asked, something I should’ve considered before I even called her. And once again, I found myself getting ready to tell her never mind until I thought about my usual schedule of bookkeeping on Mondays and flexible morning appointments on Tuesdays; both things I could have the shop manager take care of until I got back.

With that, I felt even better about my decision, smiling as I told her, “The shop will be fine without me for a little while.”

Again, she went quiet. And I started to ask her if she was still on the line when she gushed, “Wow, Mommy. He must be really cute.”

“Girl… Goodbye. I love you. And I will see you on Tuesday.”

Giggling again, she replied, “Have fun, Mommy! Love you too!” before ending the call. And now that things were mostly in motion, I couldn’t help but smile, Lincoln’s dimpled-one already matching mine when he asked, “So, it’s a go? We’re really doing this?”

“As long as you plan on making it worth my while. My time is very valuable, Lincoln,” I reminded him with a grin as he grabbed my hand to pull me closer.

Wrapping me in an embrace, he did a little reminding of his own when he countered, “And you’re giving even more of it to me? Yeah, I definitely got your ass.”

He started to laugh and I laughed too, thinking about how far we had come in just a few short days. And while the uncertainty of our future still lingered, right now, I was solely focused on making the most of my extra days in Sin City with a handsome stranger.

  Lincoln

  Wedding Weekend.

  I missed shorty like crazy.

The extra days we had spent together in Las Vegas had only made things worse for me in that regard since it just gave me more reasons to want to be near her; from learning about her wild and adventurous side when she insisted on doing the SkyJump at the Stratosphere, to finding out how wickedly intelligent she was after watching her collect four-figures at the poker table, and then discovering her overall sports knowledge ran deep after watching her hit a huge bet on a spread in a Lakers game. Truth be told, staying in Las Vegas was Savannah’s come up in more ways than one since not only had she won big currency-wise, but she had also won a solid place in my heart.

I thought our time apart would help that cool off a bit since I didn’t want to come on too strong, but it really only had me showing up at the airport to pick her and Lani up even earlier than I needed to be since I was that damn anxious to see her again. And thankfully, I wasn’t alone since Savannah called herself sprinting out of the airport the second I looped around the pickup area, her big ass smile making my heart swell as I found somewhere to park and got out to meet her.

The second we connected, she dropped her luggage and leaped into my arms, her long legs wrapped around my waist as she sprinkled kisses all over my face that I greedily accepted before groaning into her neck, “Gotdamn. I missed you.”

Dropping to her feet, she gushed, “I missed you too, handsome. Thanks for coming to get me.”

“Wouldn’t have had it any other way. But, wait. Where’s Lani?” I asked, lowkey concerned about her parenting skills if she had really ran off without her, even if it was to get to me.

Thankfully, she put my concern to bed when she answered, “She stayed back. I wasn’t quite ready to share you with anyone yet.”

While I could honestly appreciate her being a little selfish about this - about me - I was still sure to remind her, “Well you know Derek’s fam is my fam too, so you’ll be sharing me a little bit this weekend.”

She brushed me off, giving me her luggage to load into my truck as she replied, “That I can handle. As long as I get you all to myself too.”

“You already know there will be plenty of where that came from,” I assured her, pulling her in for another tight hug as I continued, “Gotta welcome you to my city the right way, baby.”

Wrapping her arms around my neck, she replied, “It doesn’t matter what city we’re in, Lincoln. The only thing that matters is that I’m with you.”

I had never heard truer words, the fact that we had conquered Las Vegas, were getting ready to conquer my hometown, and would soon conquer hers whenever I came to visit in the near future giving me a great lesson in how love worked. It didn’t matter where you were in the world, that shit would still find you.

  The End.
