Sam held the smoking gun.
Ted simply stared at Byron until a drizzle of blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. He fell, first to his knees, then to the floor.
The whole room went silent.
Then chaos ruled as Sam was hustled out of the pits.
Racing officials rushed in and began asking what happened.
Hours later, they all drove home. Everyone was tired to the point of being beyond caring.
Lucky for Sam, he had been standing just out of camera range when the shot went off. No one else could be found to have gunshot powder on their hands, so everyone was released.
Ted’s death was ruled self-defense when the police watched the tapes but no one knew who fired the fatal bullet. The shooter in the stands was caught with the rifle in his possession and he had to admit to his role in what was supposed to happen. As the police uncovered the plot, Ted had envisioned, they didn’t seem surprised. Rumors had run rampant for years of how Ted used and abused the people around him. There had been enough reports taken from others to substantiate some of the background on Ted McGee
Jack was still in the hospital and the doctors weren’t sure if he would live or not. Even if he did, he would never race again. The crash had broken his back in two places. And racing officials had declared the crash was his fault. He would be fined big time and never allowed back on the racing circuit.

Byron dragged Kelly up the stairs and to their apartment. Closing the door, he walked her all the way back to the bedroom. Once there, he dropped down on the bed and tucked her into his shoulder. “Are you ok?” he whispered to her after a long moment of silence.
“Yeah, I’m ok. Today was a little crazy huh?”
“A little crazy? Try a lot crazy. I can’t believe what the bastard was going to do. He put everyone on that track at risk. And for what?”
“When that car exploded I thought about my dad,” she whispered lowly. “At least Jack got out before the car went up in flames.”
“I’m sorry sweetness.” He kissed her head. “What can I do to help?”
“Give me that part of you that no one else can match.” She leaned up to kiss his lips. “And I don’t mean that incredible cock of yours. I mean that part of you that makes you, you.”
Byron groaned and began pulling her clothes off. Spreading kisses all over her skin, he drove her out of her mind with need and want. Kelly pulled his clothes off at the same time and before either of them were ready, she flipped him on his back and impaled herself with his cock.
Byron groaned as he grasped her hips felt himself grow hard while he stroked inside her. “My ball of fire...” He panted hard.
Kelly was in absolute ecstasy as she threw her head back as slid up and down on him. Closing her eyes, she gave herself over to the feelings instead of the act itself. His body felt so good, hot without burning, gripping her without stopping her movements. Each stroke sent her higher and higher until she could go no further. She cried out his name as she fell apart.
Byron stared up at her as he held her above him. “What a beautiful sight you are, Sweetness.” Then he lunged up high inside her and came right along with her.
Sweat rolled down her face as Kelly finally laid on top of him. His sweat mingled with hers as they laid there for a few minutes. “Ohhh, I needed that so much,” she whispered breathlessly as she drew circles on his tatted chest with the tips of her fingers.
The room grew quiet for a long while as their breathing even out and their heartbeats returned to normal.
“I love you,” Byron suddenly and quietly whispered in her ear.
Kelly blinked at hearing this for the first time. It stunned her to hear those 3 little but monumental words coming from his lips. She lifted her head up to gaze into his eyes. “I love you too, you know. In fact, I’ve loved you since the first day you came to town. I just didn’t know it.”
“Are you sure?” Byron asked. “Because I can’t lose you now. I can’t let you walk away and never have you in my arms again.”
Kelly smiled gently. “I’m not going anywhere. Not now, not ever.”
“Good, cause even you couldn’t create a car that’s fast enough to evade me.” He grinned. “And I’m gonna hold you to this for say, the next fifty years or so,” Byron promised her as he kissed her.
