The Knocked Up Stewardess

She sat in a chair, gripped the arm rest and straightened her legs straight out. Susie’s body moved in almost like a dance. She felt something pushing deep down inside of her and she yelled, deep and guttural.

“Coming in for approach. We’ll be on the ground in fifteen minutes, Susie,” James’s voice was low and afraid. “Can you keep from pushing until that happens?”

Susie didn’t think so. She really didn’t think so. As the first real contraction hit her, she rubbed her belly and screamed.

  ******

Susie breathed out quick four times. Her hair was covered in sweat, her legs stretched out even further, and she struggled not to push. James was at her side, holding her hand tight. “The ambulance is here now. The stretcher is coming. Please just hang on.”

She shook her head. “My water broke. They’re coming. Coming fast.” She grimaced, arched her back and screamed. Her legs straightened up in the air and Susie’s chin was in her chest as she pushed. Pushed with all her might.

“Whoa, baby. Susie….did you say ‘they’?”

Like a woman got this big for one baby? But no, she had felt multiple kicks from all over. “Whatever I’m about to have, its more than one.” Her breathing turned rapid again as another strong contraction hit her.

A moment later, the EMTs wheeled in the stretcher and tried to move her, but Susie swatted them away. “It’s coming!” Susie cried and started to push again.

“It’s crowning!” The EMT shouted and politely got james to move out of the way. He pushed Susie’s legs open gently but still she hollered in pain. Lifting her head, Susie squeezed her eyes shut and pushed, while James held one of her thighs in the air.

Susie was relieved to hear a baby’s cry but it didn’t stop the contractions. They kept coming and were even stronger than before. So intense, she nearly passed out. But she endured and gave birth two more times on that plane until everyone decided it would be safe to move her.

It took time to get her into the stretcher and she held two of the three babies who greedly drank from her breasts, gulping down bit mouthfuls of milk. By the time they reached the ambulance, Susie switched one of the babies out and gazed lovingly down on them.

“I love them, James. I love them.”

“And I love you,” he smiled at her. “Our life together, it’s going to be something else.”

  Epilogue: Pregnant again? Why not

They were married in a quick ceremony when their triplets were less than three months old. It took a lot of work to raise triplets. James moved his family out into the country and he opened a home business on their farm to not only keep them secret but so he could spend more time with them.

Each pregnancy was a big more normal than the last. The triplets were four years old, the twins were three, a single daughter was two and Susie was over nine months pregnant now—her longest pregnancy—with twins. A large set the doctor said, largest he had ever seen.

Being how used to being stretched out Susie was, she wasn’t surprised.

She stood out on the farmhouse’s porch, both her hands on her lower back, trusting her giant baby belly out. She wore a pair of draw string pants that cradled beneath her baby belly and a pink tank top that curled up to her waist. After so many pregnancies, Susie had forgotten what it had been like to be decent.

Her breasts leaked milk and she was happy to see James, making his way over to her. He smiled, running up the steps and rubbed her belly like it was a good luck charm. He bent over and kissed it. “How are all my girls today?”

Susie stretched up to kiss him, guiding his hands over her long existent waist. “Hungry for you. We’d really like you to take a drink.” She peeled back the straps of her tank top, ready to expose her breast to him.

James growled and kissed her neck. “Nearly two weeks passed your due date and you’re not worried?”

“They’ll come when they’re ready. I learned that. Besides, I can feel things moving. It’ll be soon.” Susie groaned as she felt another Braxton hicks contraction. “Maybe even real soon.”

“We better get inside then,” James grinned. “I need to have my way with you one more time before these babies come into the world.”

  Susie pouted. “Just once?”
