Her eyes shot wide open, and she desperately clung to him. Max hugged her back, and she bagan to cry, which made Max begin to weep in return. Piper kissed him fiercely and stroked his hair, staring into his eyes as though making sure he was real.
“Max, I though…oh, god Max, I’m so glad you’re alright.”
“I was so worried about you, Babe. But now everything’s alright. We’re together again, and nothing is ever going to separate us again. I promise.”
They held each other close, and soon Max fell asleep with Piper snuggled up in his arms. The world had gone to shit. But they still had each other. And for Max, that was good enough.
