Huge thank yous to Alison, Sara Helen Binney, Lilidh Kendrick, Ella Harold, Amy Donegan and Philippa Cotton at Bloomsbury. You’ve all been fantastic, especially given the chaos the last year has inflicted on us all. Thank you to Andrew Gordon and Georgina Ruffhead at David Higham Associates for all your help.

But the biggest thanks – once again – go to my family, most especially Jonny and our gorgeous little Izzie. I’m so glad we’re on this adventure together.

Casey Benedict, star reporter at the Post, has infiltrated the lives and exposed the lies of countless politicians and power players. Using her network of contacts, Casey is always on the search for the next big story, no matter how much danger this might place her in, no matter what cost emotionally.

Tipped off by an overheard conversation at an exclusive London nightclub, she begins to investigate the apparent suicide of a wealthy young British man, whose death has left his fiancée and family devastated.

Casey’s determined hunt for the truth will take her from the glitz of St-Tropez to the deserts of Libya and on to the very darkest corners of the human mind.

  THE DEAD LINE

‘Casey Benedict is fierce, obsessive and brilliant as she blackmails and tricks her way to the truth’ Observer

Investigative journalist Casey Benedict is used to working on stories that will take her from the bottom to the top of society – stories with a huge human cost. And her latest case is no different.

A frantic message is found hidden in clothes manufactured for the British high street. They take the girls…

Casey and her team at the Post know they are on the brink of a major exposé but identifying the factories in which the clothes have been made is one challenge, following the trail of those taken is another.

Their attempts to find the girls will take Casey from her London newsroom across the world and into the very heart of families who will be destroyed if what she uncovers is ever revealed.

‘Vivid and packed with journalistic lore … mixing pulsating derring-do with painstaking detective work’ Sunday Times

  ‘Heart-stoppingly exciting’ i
