Playing Catch-Up

Alexis had had no choice thanks to the slightly see-through outfit she wore.

Ramie eased Alexis’s legs apart and pushed the scant material between her thighs aside. “I love how you’re always ready for me,” she said, running the tips of her fingers through Alexis’s heat.

Well it certainly didn’t take much. A look. A caress. Alexis’s body was in a constant state of arousal when Ramie was around. Her breath hitched as Ramie’s movements became bolder and two long fingers slid into her depths.

  “Does that feel good, baby?”

Alexis’s eyes almost rolled back. She raised her dipped head from between her shoulders and met Ramie’s hooded eyes in the mirror. “I need more.” She wanted to be consumed. To feel Ramie everywhere.

With a barely perceptible nod, Ramie added another finger and then reached around to rub Alexis’s swollen clit.

The sensation of being stretched wide was almost too much and Alexis cried out, pitching forward as Ramie thrust in and out, gaining speed with each pass.

“You feel so good, Lex. So tight.”

Alexis loved it when Ramie caught her unawares like this. Feeling her lover’s powerful body dominate her own while simultaneously feeling safe and loved.

Her pussy fluttered, her pleasure climbing to new heights.

“That’s it, baby,” Ramie urged. “Let go. I want to feel you tighten around my fingers.”

Alexis pushed back and met Ramie’s escalating pumps. “Yes!”

Her body tensed as she found her release, then slackened as the last ripples of her orgasm faded.

“Good God.” She pressed her forehead against the cold porcelain sink. “Are you trying to kill me?”

“No.” Ramie leaned over Alexis’s prone body and kissed her temple. “Just trying to make you feel good. I think we can safely say we’ve christened every room now.”

Alexis chuckled. “Your wish is my command.”

Eyes still locked through the mirror, Ramie carefully removed her fingers from between Alexis’s legs and sucked them dry.

  So hot. Alexis’s insides clenched.

A car horn beeped, and Ramie pushed open the frosted window to peer outside. “I hate to break it to you, but Lauren and Todd are here.”

“Shit!” Alexis straightened and gave Ramie a rough shove. “Go and stall them for me. I’ll be out in a minute once I’ve sorted myself out.”

Looking supremely satisfied with herself, Ramie took off, leaving Alexis alone with her heated cheeks and heavy breath. Alexis laughed. She didn’t know how, but she managed to fall in love with Ramie a little bit more each day.

After taking some time to tease her hair back into shape, she smoothed down her dress, took a final look in the mirror, and then scooted into the hallway to put on her heels. She despised them, preferring the comfort of her trainers any day, but had decided to make a special exception for Maddie and Chris’s wedding.

Lauren’s horn honked again, and Alexis rolled her eyes. “I’m coming!” She grabbed her handbag and headed for the front door.

Maddie and Chris looked gorgeous standing at the altar of St Michael’s church while a hundred of their closest friends and relatives looked on with smiling faces. The couple kissed for the first time as a married couple and the congregation broke out into cheers.

“Oh shit. I think I’m going to lose it again.”

Alexis laughed as Lauren blew her nose into a soggy tissue.

“It’s these damn hormones,” Lauren complained. She rested her hand on her bulging stomach. At seven months pregnant, she was well past the halfway mark and every event, no matter how little or significant, was liable to set off a fresh round of water works.

Todd hugged Lauren and kissed her temple. “It’s all right, babe. You cry all you want.”

Todd had been brilliant throughout Lauren’s pregnancy. She’d discovered she was expecting at Christmas, and although her pregnancy had been fraught with complications in the beginning, things had eventually settled down. In a couple of months she would be able to hold her little girl in her arms and Alexis would be an aunty.

The pews began to empty, and Alexis took Ramie’s hand as they followed the new Mrs and Mrs Canton-Green into the churchyard.

“Maddie looks beautiful, doesn’t she?” Ramie said.

Alexis had to agree. The material of the simple silk gown perfectly hugged the contours of Maddie’s body and complimented her effortless grace.

Chris didn’t look too bad either. Wearing a tailored white tux complete with a spiffy waistcoat, she was the epitome of a dashing knight.

“They really are a gorgeous couple,” Alexis said. She would be jealous if she didn’t have a Princess Charming of her own.

Her thoughts strayed unbidden to the possibility of her own wedding someday. Would Ramie wear a tux like Chris? The decision would be Ramie’s alone of course, but if Alexis had her way, she would pay good money to see her girlfriend in the sleek lines of a fitted suit.

“I love you,” she said, a swell of emotion suddenly filling her throat.

Ramie pulled her close and pressed a whisper soft kiss beneath her ear. “I love you too, babe. What is it with weddings and emotions, huh?”

Alexis laughed and wiped at her misty eyes.

The road to redemption had been a long one. It had taken time to regain Ramie’s trust but now she’d earned it back she never planned on losing it again. The past six months had been some of the happiest she’d experienced, and she couldn’t wait to see what the future had in store for them.

  “Hey!”

Hope threaded her way through the churchyard wearing a free-flowing dress made of some type of green gauzy material. She looked like a forest nymph as she danced towards them with an attractive brunette in tow.

“Hey, Hope.” Alexis gave her a welcoming wave.

“Ladies, this is Cammie,” Hope said, coming to a stop in front of them. “Cammie,” she continued, pointing to Alexis and Ramie in turn. “These are my friends Ramie and Alexis.”

Everyone had been relieved when Hope had called things off with Sasha. What had started out as wanting to know Hope’s whereabouts twenty-four-seven had morphed into wanting to dictate every facet of her life. Hope was well shot of the parasite in Alexis’s opinion.

“It’s nice to meet some of Hope’s friends,” Cammie said, shaking their hands. “I hear you’re both off to Greenland at the weekend. Are you excited?”

A mixture of glee and anticipation skittered around inside Alexis’s stomach. “Yep. I’ve never been there before. It should be fun.”

“I’m all kinds of jealous.” Hope fake pouted. “I’ve always wanted to see the midnight sun.”

Those had been Alexis’s thoughts exactly when Ramie had surprised her with two tickets to Nuuk the night they moved in together. Neither of them had been afforded the luxury of a holiday for several years, and Alexis was bursting with anticipation for the adventure to come.

“Well, we’d better get moving,” Hope said when the procession of wedding guests started to move towards the convey of cars cluttering the road. “It looks like everyone’s heading to the reception.”

With promises to catch up later, they headed off, leaving Alexis and Ramie to make their way to Lauren’s car.

“Remember, I can’t stay too late,” Alexis said once they were buckled in. “I’m meeting up with my dad in the morning and I don’t fancy doing it with a hangover.”

Her relationship with her father had improved significantly since they’d started meeting away from Carol and her childhood home. She’d gathered the courage to tell him about Ramie several months earlier, and much to her surprise, he’d been great about it. “As long as she makes you happy,” he’d said. Alexis had introduced them not long afterwards, and these days Ramie often joined them on their regular coffee mornings.

“No worries.” Ramie reached for Alexis’s hand. “There’ll still be plenty of time for a whirl on the dance floor.”

I’m counting on it.” Alexis grinned. There was so much to celebrate. Maddie and Chris’s union. Moving in together. Going on holiday. She couldn’t even begin to imagine what the next few months would bring.

“I can’t wait to start the next phase of my life with you,” she whispered.

Ramie brushed a wayward lock of hair from Alexis’s face, and then tenderly cupped her jaw. “Me too, sweetheart. Me too.”
