Hamish and the Monster Patrol

Page 14

by Danny Wallace

‘I want you to have something,’ said Dad.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a shiny silver Belasko badge.

‘We don’t really do medals,’ he said. ‘But I hope you’ll think this is just as cool. I got it when I joined up.’

He pinned it on Hamish’s jumper.

And Hamish liked it very much.

That night, exhausted, Hamish Ellerby fell onto his bed.

He wondered whether Scarmarsh would come to him in his dreams again.

He wondered whether he’d ever come back at all.

But he knew now that his dreams were his own, and he had dreamt of what he was scared of. He had been worried he was like his uncle.

Now he was more sure than ever that he was like his dad.

Hamish fell into a deep sleep, and can you guess what he dreamt of?

  He dreamt of absolutely nothing.

  THE END

  for now . . .

The Terrible shave arrived and they have a PLAN! To pa use time and take over the world! Can Hamish stop them before it’s too late?

The people of Earth are in BIG trouble again! Luckily Hamish and his friends are here to save the day … aren’t they??!

The whole town of Starkley is floating on air… literally! Gravity has gone MAD and Hamish is sure that the Terribles and their evil master, Scarmash, are behind the strange happenings ...

  Beware the Babies ...

  they CRY ...

  they POO ...

  they ATTACK!

  HAMISH WOULD LIKE TO THANK:

Everybody at Simon & Schuster Children’s Starkley office! But who could he be talking about? Well, Laura Hough, obviously! And Eve Wersocki-Morris, no less! And then naturally there’s Ali Arlington and Jesse Green! And Alex Maramenides! But do you know who he means most of all? Jane Griffiths, of course!

And outside of Starkley, he’d like to thank Mr R. Kirby and Ms. A. Feiner of Thrunkley Literary Agents and Newsagent/Butcher.

Also, Danny would like to thank Jamie, and assumes Jamie would like to thank Danny - though you can never be sure with that guy.
