Page 8
He just held me, and held me, and held me, and it was the most glorious feeling in the world.
Mal pulled back but only long enough to drop down to his knees, push my shirt up, and stare at my flat belly. I felt his warm breath skate along my skin, and I covered my mouth for a different reason this time, a reason that this big, strong man I loved so much looked so vulnerable in this moment.
And he looked so absolutely, positively happy.
“A baby,” he murmured in this awe-inspired voice as he tipped his head back and looked up at me, his smile blinding. “A baby, Delilah.”
I was smiling and laughing, everything in me so attuned to this moment, so light and free. And then I started laughing harder. He did the same, rising up and pulling me in for another embrace.
And we stayed like that, my big, strong protector holding me, my husband, my soul mate, and now the father of the baby I carried.
The End.
