Too Hot to Handle

“You scared me just now,” Daniel whispered against his ear. “I should punish you for being so reckless.”

  Chapter 13

Daniel had seen his fair share of battles, had tackled all kinds of dangerous enemies, but he had never experienced fear like that before. He knew Chad was not the type of guy who’d be able to sit still and wait for orders. Daniel wouldn’t have mated him otherwise.

  “Punish me?” Chad repeated.

Daniel nodded. He knew the battle with the Ash Bears was over, but he shouldn’t have let his guard down. Hard to do, when he could only look at his mate. Seeing Chad safe and unharmed calmed his wolf immensely.

“Ooh. That sounds hot,” Chad said.

“Chad,” he said, grabbing Chad’s shoulders. “Don’t ever do that again. I don’t want to experience that level of fear again.”

Chad blinked. “You were frightened? You?”

“Of course. Your life was in danger. I can’t lose my mate right after finding him.

“I’m right here. Should I find a way to redeem myself?” Chad then shamelessly rubbed himself against Daniel.

Daniel groaned, then gave Chad’s a smart swat. “Behave, your father’s heading this way.”

Chad stilled at those words. Daniel released Chad as Allan found his way towards them. His best friend had put on a pair of jogging pants but was still covered in drying blood. Despite how Allan looked, Daniel knew one of their healers had already taken a look at him. He didn’t scent any fresh injuries.

“Dad,” Chad said, hesitated, before running up to him. “Are you badly injured?”

Allan looked surprised. “No, two healers worked on me. I’ll heal just fine.” Allan paused, looked embarrassed and unsure of what to say to his son. Both of them certainly came from the same mold, Daniel decided.

“Don’t think you can just throw your life carelessly like that,” Allan began. “You’re mated now, remember?”

“What the hell? That’s the first thing you want to say to me?”

“What do expect me to say?”

“Well.” Chad crossed his arms. “A thank-you would be nice.”

“You were reckless. What if that were bear managed to get you?”

“He didn’t, did he? Besides, Daniel came to my rescue and yours.”

At those words, Allan finally had the guts to confront Daniel. His best friend leveled his gaze at him and grumbled under his breath, “I had this fight taken care of.”

Daniel snorted. “No, face it, Allan. Your pack was nearly slaughtered if it wasn’t for my help.”

Steam nearly came out of Allan’s nostrils. The other Alpha curled his fists by his sides and came up to his face. Allan snarled. Daniel met Allan’s yellow eyes evenly.

“Please don’t fight,” Chad interrupted. “Look around you.”

Daniel did as his mate asked and saw what Chad did. Members of the Goldcrest Pack, speaking and interacting with Allan’s pack. Their two Alphas fighting couldn’t erase the bonds their two allied packs had forged over the years.

“I made a mistake,” Allan admitted.

“Wow, Dad. That’s the first time I’ve heard you say those words,” Chad unhelpfully said.

Daniel flashed his mate a warning look. Chad closed his mouth. Daniel clasped Allan’s shoulder. “Allan, we’ve known each other a long time. I should’ve talked to you first, before mating your son.”

“It’s not his fault, as I told you before,” Chad said. “I came onto him. I always wanted one man, Dad. That’s Daniel.”

Allan frowned at his son. “My decision stands. I can acknowledge the two of you are mates, but it will take me time to accept it.” Allan pitched his voice louder. “The alliance between the Windshide and Goldcrest Packs continues.”

Cheers from both packs followed his announcement.

Allan turned his back, about to walk away, but he paused. Chad reached for his hand, and Daniel clasped his fingers. Chad didn’t look ready to let his father go yet, but saying anything at this point, Daniel thought, would be futile.

Allan finally looked at them. “Maybe you two can come over to the pack house for dinner some time.”

  “We’ll be there.” Daniel promised.

“I won’t treat you like my best friend but my son’s mate,” Allan said.

Daniel nodded. He knew Allan was still hurting, and there was nothing he could do about it. Daniel betrayed Allan’s trust after all. Rebuilding that trust would take a lot of work and effort from both ends.

Once Allan left his line of sight, Chad collapsed against him. “That went a lot better than I thought.”

“It did. Allan’s always been like that. He just needs time to cool off.”

“I forgot, you know him a lot better than me.”

“Cheer up. Today, we both nearly lost him, but we all came out of this war alive,” he told his mate lightly.

  “Thanks to you.”

“You mentioned repaying me,” Daniel said with a smile. He could smell Chad’s arousal, without needing to look at the bulge in Chad’s jeans. Daniel gave Chad’s prick a quick squeeze, making his mate groan.

Chad leaned in close to his ear to whisper, “Punish me however you see fit, Alpha.”

Daniel closed his mouth over Chad’s and took his time, savoring the familiar taste of his mate. Chad grabbed his shoulder, returned his kiss passionately, even parted his mouth wider so Daniel could thrust his tongue down Chad’s throat. Daniel pulled away and smirked at his mate.

“I’ll hold you to that promise. Once we get home, I’m going to put you over my knee, give you a spanking you won’t forget. Then I’ll throw you on the bed and fuck you until you can barely walk in the morning.”

Chad shivered at those words. “Oh, Alpha, you sure know the right words to turn me on. Take me back to your room.”

Daniel gave Chad’s ass a pat. “Our room,” Daniel corrected. “And it’ll be my pleasure.

  Epilogue

  A Month Later

“How’s the move coming along?” Allan asked at the opposite side of the table.

“Very good. We only have a few boxes left,” Daniel replied.

Chad was relieved the dinner was going smoothly. He’d been apprehensive and worried about tonight’s dinner with his dad for weeks now. It had been a month since his father foolishly tried to take on the Ash Bears despite knowing the Windshide Pack would be outnumbered. Plenty of things had changed since then.

As Allan promised, the alliance between their two packs continued. The Ash Bears didn’t try claiming Dubros Hill again as their territory. Daniel had somehow managed to convince Allan to negotiate with them as opposed to announcing an all-out war.

Daniel had also officially stepped down as the Goldcrest Alpha, and Ben took his place. Daniel would always be the Alpha in Chad’s heart. That would never change. It looked like not many Goldcrest werewolves were happy with the decision, but Daniel reassured him they’d eventually adapt to Ben’s leadership.

They’d also found a charming little apartment on the outskirts of the city, the building only two blocks away from where Grant and Max lived. It was a much quieter neighborhood, one which suited both Daniel and him.

The next thing he knew, dinner passed by in a blur. Chad barely tasted the food. He was too worried he’d screw things up with his dad. Chad also probably drank too much wine. He didn’t realize Allan was ushering them out the front door.

“You were strangely quiet tonight,” Allan remarked to him.

Chad blinked. “Sorry. I’ll do better next time. I was just nervous about tonight.”

“I don’t need to tell you that I can tell your mate’s a good man. I know he is. There’s nothing to worry about. We’ll do this again next week.”

Chad groaned at those words, but Daniel gave his shoulder a nudge.

“Take care of my son,” Allan told Daniel. “I know he can be a handful.”

Chad scowled at that, but his irritation disappeared when Daniel slid a p
ossessive arm over his shoulders and pulled him close.

“Will do. I never let him out of my sight,” Daniel said with a grin. Chad blushed. Allan cleared his throat.

“See you two next week.” His father closed the door, and Daniel led him back to the car.

They drove back to their apartment. The amount of alcohol he drank made him a little sleepy. Chad must’ve dozed off because when he woke, Daniel was shaking him awake.

“We’re here,” Daniel said. Chad got out of the car, let his mate bring him back to their apartment unit. Daniel turned the lights on. Boxes everywhere, but they intended to spend the entire weekend unpacking and sorting.

“We’ve a lot of work over the weekend,” he grumbled to Daniel. “Can’t we put it off a little longer?”

“Let me give you some incentive to work,” Daniel said.

Chad gasped when Daniel tugged him close. He turned sober when Daniel took his mouth in a rough kiss that left him gasping for more. Chad was wide awake now. He reached for Daniel’s shirt and began to unbutton it, revealing tanned and hard muscle.

Chad licked his lips. He left a line of kisses down Daniel’s chest. Daniel undid his pants, moved past his boxers, and gave his thickening prick a squeeze. Chad groaned, suddenly hot for his Alpha.

With warning, his Alpha placed his hands on his waist. Daniel hefted Chad in his arms like Chad didn’t weigh a thing. Chad giggled, held on to Daniel’s shoulders as his mate carried him to their bedroom. Right now, it only contained a mattress, but the bed frame and the rest of the furniture would follow.

Daniel threw him down the mattress. Chad fumbled for his clothes. In moments, both of them were completely naked. Chad had no patience for foreplay tonight. He got into his hands and knees, pressed his shoulders and chest into the mattress. Chad made sure his ass was angled right at Daniel’s cock.

His Alpha growled, raising goosebumps over his arms. Chad couldn’t wait for Daniel to plow him, remind Chad who he rightfully belonged to. Chad looked over his shoulder, spotted Daniel grabbing the lube from the back pocket of his jeans. Chad liked that his mate was always ready. Daniel still couldn’t get enough of him, but he was the same.

Daniel returned behind him and started lubing his ass up. Chad wiggled, groaned as Daniel pushed two, three fingers in him and began widening him for access. Daniel discarded the lube, grabbed his hips, and finally pushed his thick and meaty dick into his puckered entrance.

Chad gasped, clawed at the sheets in front of him. Daniel drove his shaft all the way in, not stopping once until he was fully seated inside Chad. His Alpha began to rut him, started with fast and quick strokes at first. Daniel went deeper, rode him rougher. Chad met his mate for every push, practically thrust his ass at him. Pressure built steadily inside of him, threatened to burst open.

His wolf reached out for Daniel’s, became one, just like their hearts and souls.

Daniel reached between his legs, began to stroke Chad’s prick. He gasped as Daniel pumped in and out of him, while working his cock. Daniel’s big and rough hand on the most intimate and sensitive part of his body always felt good. Daniel’s last push sent him off the edge of oblivion. His mind reeled as he emptied his balls. Daniel came inside him a few moments later.

They both slid into the mattress, with Daniel bringing him close for an embrace.

“Love you, Alpha,” Chad murmured. He began to feel a little sleepy again, but he wouldn’t doze off yet, not without hearing Daniel’s reply. Even though he’d heard his mate whisper those three important words to him many times, he never got sick of it.

“Love you back, baby.” Daniel kissed the mate mark on his neck. “As for tomorrow, I’ll just fuck you again in the morning to encourage you to start unpacking.”

“Sounds good to me,” Chad said. He fell asleep with a smile on his lips.
