The Sweet Spot (All About the Diamond #1)
Page 13
The team celebrates on the field and Rick calls me down to the end of the dugout. I make my way there and he reaches out, puts his arms around me, and lifts me into the dugout with him. As if nobody else is there, he sets me down on the bench and claims my mouth, all hot sweaty man. He takes me to another world and everybody around us doesn’t matter.
I break the kiss and gaze into his clear eyes, “Meet me in our room, so we can celebrate.”
“We only have time for a short celebration before we meet my family for dinner, but we will have all night after. Skip said I’m allowed to have sex before any game I want to,” he smiles deviously.
“You deserve special permission. Are you sure you want me to meet your family?” I query.
“No doubt in my mind. They’re going to be asking me about the woman I pulled into the dugout. They’ll love you,” so confident.
“Okay. I’m going to make a quick stop on my way back to the hotel and I’ll meet you there. You rocked it today,” I smile proudly.
He smacks my ass as I head up into the stands. I should be offended, but it shows me he loves me and wants me.
Chapter Eighteen
It takes me longer than I want to get to the baseball shop, mostly due to the crowds from the game. I grab one of the This girl loves diamonds shirts and a Keep swinging hoodie. Then I find the cutest shirt with gathered material and ties at the bottom on the sides and no sleeves, printed in foil lettering with “I just want to hold hands and watch baseball”—it’s a must have! I take my items to the register and they add the big number 6 to the back of the hoody along with Seno. It’s ready and I’m out of there, walking quickly towards the hotel in less than ten minutes. Before long I’m in the hotel lobby, needing to stop and get my key. I walk up to the front desk.
The front desk clerk looks at me, “How can I help you?”
“Mr. Seno had a key left for me, Sherry Seno,” I say to her and the name rolls so naturally off my tongue.
“Yes, Mrs. Seno. I have the key waiting for you right here,” she says as she hands me the key card.
I take the key and thank her as I walk to the elevator with “Mrs. Seno” echoing in my ears. I wonder if he knew what was going to happen, if this was his intentional plan. I’m standing in the elevator contemplating when the door opens and Rick is standing there. He steps into the elevator with me and looks at me funny.
“Why are you standing in the elevator?”
I never pressed the button to go up to the eighth floor, stuck imagining what it would be like to be Mrs. Seno. But, I can’t tell him that, can I? “I must’ve gotten lost in deep thought.”
“Why don’t you tell me about it?” he says as the elevator takes us to the eighth floor and he moves toward me unable to keep his hands off me.
“Umm, I don’t think I should,” as I encourage his hands and hope he forgets about it.
“How about you tell me while I kiss your neck right here, then I won’t be looking at you when you tell me?” he says.
Sounds logical. Well, it sounds logical when he’s kissing my neck. I would do anything he asks when he’s kissing my neck. “The desk clerk called me Mrs. Seno when I picked up my key. I was Queen Sherry Seno when I picked up my ticket at will call. The name I gave the clerk to get my key was Sherry Seno. The baseball cap I’m wearing says Seno on it. I get it, it’s to make people treat me better than a baseball groupie.” I take a breath, “I’m just such a fuckin’ girl. You make me act like, feel like such a girl.”
He whispers at my ear, “I like that you’re a girl. Does my name bother you?”
“No. That’s the problem.” Crap! Here I go with the diarrhea of the mouth again, “I love it! Listen to it—Sherry Seno—Queen Sherry Seno—Mrs. Seno—Mrs. Sherry Seno—Mrs. Rick Seno—Rick and Sherry Seno—It’s perfect! It’s you!”
He pulls the button to stop the elevator between the floors and doesn’t say a word. He really does have a thing about elevators. He claims my mouth with new intentions and pushes his body against mine. His hard length proving how much he wants me. He spreads my legs with his feet and I drop my bag. I hike up my skirt, so he gets a view of the Cookie Monster on my panties peeking out at him and put his hand there so he knows I’m wet for him—My panties are soaked. He stops what he’s doing and steps back with a lustful caveman stare, like he’s waiting for permission. “Rick, will you please fuck me in the elevator?” I ask sweetly and his face changes. He does nothing. I step away from him, pull my panties off, unbutton his pants, turn away from him, and bend over in front of him, holding my own ankles for balance.
He steps toward me, puts his hands at my waist, and pulls me to his hard waiting cock—sliding his length into me slowly, “How are you so perfect? Fuck.” As he pulls out and slides in again. He pushes in harder and I brace myself against the elevator wall. He stops.
“Come on baby. Do what you want to do. Take me hard and fast and dirty, or however you think it should be on an elevator. I want it the way you want it,” as I push back against him.
I hear a low groan as he slides in deeper then pulls out all the way, before he pulls me back against him, plunging in hard and fast. Keeping it fast and hard, over and over, pounding into me, controlling everything with his hands on my waist. It’s amazing and I don’t want him to stop. He’s so big inside me, larger than before. I cry out and he smacks my ass, setting me off instantaneously. I yell out his name over and over with every stroke in, as I tighten around him, grabbing at his hard thick cock trying to bring him over the edge with me. He tenses up, then lets go, holding me on his cock. He’s seated deep inside me and his hot fluids fill me as his tip finds that deep spot while he comes. Fucking amazing. He leans back against the wall to recover, and the glazed look on his face tells me he isn’t with me. I quickly grab my panties from the floor, button his pants and get the elevator going to the eighth floor. After all, we are still in the elevator. I take his hand and the elevator stops. I lead him to our room and lock the door behind us.
He hasn’t said anything and simply follows my lead back to our room. “Are you okay?” I ask him and kiss his cheek. He puts his arms around me and holds me, not talking.
“I love you. You do crazy things. You make me think crazy things. We should talk about what we want from this,” he says softly and kisses me tenderly on the lips.
I stiffen, afraid of what he’s going to say. “It’s okay,” he says. “I think I’m the one that’s out there on this. I need to say things to you before I can’t go back. Shit, I’m already too far gone.”
He’s nervous and I don’t want him to be, so I interrupt. “Babe, I love you. I’m in this for as long as you’ll have me and for whatever you’ll have me for. One more night or years. I’ll do anything I can to make you happy. I don’t need your name. I don’t need your sperm. I just need you.”
“What if I want more?” he says gazing into my eyes.
“As long as it’s not illegal and there are no other women in your bed, I’m probably okay with it.”
“I can’t believe you did that in the elevator. I’ve wanted that for years,” he says remembering.
“I knew you wanted it and I want to make you happy. No brainer.”
“So, if I asked you to marry me you’d say?”
“Yes.”
“And, if I asked you to move in with me?”
“I already gave you my keys and you said my place feels more like home, so I’d suggest you move to my place.”
“I just want to know you're with me and we want the same things. I want to get married someday. I want a family someday. I only want to be with you. I want a partner. I want to move in with you. I want to take care of you. I want you with me on road trips. I might want elevator sex again sometime. I don’t mean now, I want to be on the same path,” he leans his forehead against mine, heart bare.
“The fact that I love you means I want you to have those things with me. Some of it we have now and some of it we’ll grow into.” I change my t
one and question, “Why do I feel like I’m missing something?”
“I was engaged and she dumped me for a guy who makes more money. Since I’ve been with you, I know that wasn’t love—it didn’t feel like this,” he kisses me and I tingle down to my toes. “I know this all sounds stupid, we’ve known each other less than two weeks.”
“We can be stupid together because I want to be with you, too. Do you want to start moving in with me when you get back from your road trip?” I wait for his response.
“Yes, Mrs. Seno, I’d love to,” his smile shining into his eyes.
“I’m going to stay home while you're in Pittsburgh, to prepare for you to move in,” I give him a heads up. “You need to stop with the Mrs. Seno stuff.”
“And you need to prep for karaoke, right?”
“Yes, but it’s the last time. Finals.”
“Why do you want me to stop the Mrs. Seno stuff?” he asks.
“It makes me want to be Mrs. Seno and makes me do dumb girl things,” I explain. “Like tears for no reason.”
“What if I want to pretend you’re Mrs. Seno?” he says quietly.
I take a deep breath and respond quietly, “I can’t pre—,” and I’m cut off by his phone ringing.
Rick walks into the bathroom to talk on the phone for a few minutes. He returns and says, “My sister got out of the house without her kids and wants to start in the bar tonight before my parents get here. I told her about you and she wants to meet you. I need to get cleaned up from the elevator. Can you go meet her? I’m sure she’ll love to tell you stories about me,” he entices me.
“Am I allowed to ask questions about you?”
“Yes,” with a deep sigh. “But no shots of Jack, you're meeting my parents tonight.”
“I won’t forget I’m meeting your parents. What if your sister wants to do shots of Jack?” I say joking. “I need to get cleaned up, too… I don’t even have any panties on!”
His eyes heat at the thought, “I think you should go commando tonight. I like the idea of knowing you don’t have any panties on.”
I give him the evil eye and change into my skinny jeans with my new I just want to hold hands and watch baseball shirt, “Not when I’m meeting your parents. I’m already worried I’ll say the wrong thing.”
“Don’t worry. Go find my sister. Her name is Sam and you’ll know her when you see her. I’ll be down as soon as I shower,” he disappears into the bathroom.
Chapter Nineteen
I make sure I actually press the button for the lobby and make my way to the bar. His sister shouldn’t be hard to find, she’s female and alone in the bar. Then I see the bright blue eyes like the eyes I’ve been gazing into, but with long brown hair and make-up. It must be her. I walk up to her and ask, “Sam?”
“Yes. Short for Samantha. You must be Sherry! I’m so happy to meet you! I knew something was up when my brother didn’t call me for a few days, then he was playing like shit!” directing me to sit on the bar stool next to hers.
“He’s showering and will be down soon.”
“Oh, then we need to make the most of the time we have before he gets here. He won’t let us girl talk,” she says.
“Then, we should talk about him and get to know each other after he’s here,” I say laughing.
“Exactly! There are a few things you should know. I’m his older sister and always looking out for him. He isn’t the typical baseball player, he doesn’t live that player life off the field. He did for a bit at first, but he got engaged because his longtime girlfriend told him she was pregnant with his baby. He thought he loved her and knew it was the right thing to do, he figured he’d marry her at some point anyway. He was really happy for a couple of months and accepted the path he chose. He was looking forward to being a father and doing everything for her. But, then he caught her with a player from another team who was in a higher income bracket and found out she was chasing players on the visiting teams when they came to Colorado. He doesn’t come home as often any more. Now it’s only when he’s playing Colorado or it’s a holiday. You’re the first woman he’s mentioned to me since they broke up and it’s been almost two years. It means a lot to him that you came here to be with him on the road trip. He still thinks about what could’ve been and the whole experience made him want those things more than most men, I think.” She takes a breath, “I probably shouldn’t have unloaded all that. I suffer from DOTM.”
I laugh, “I have the same problem and at the strangest times. I hope you have my back when I meet your parents!”
We laugh and order a drink.
“I know he’s not a player. I still have moments of shock that we actually ever went on a date. He told me today he’d been engaged and got dumped for a guy who made more money, but he left out the rest. I suspected there was more. It makes more sense, I couldn’t understand how income was a factor when you're a professional baseball player and it didn’t seem like I should be prying. He has asked questions men don’t usually ask when you’ve been together less than a month. I don’t mind. I love him and I want to make him happy.” I look at her sincerely, “Honestly, I’m not looking for a man to take care of me. I had satisfied myself with a fantasy baseball boyfriend and that was good enough. Until my fantasy man entered my real world and reality blew the fantasy away.”
“Stop! I don’t want to hear about my brother,” she says laughing. “I know what its like to accidentally find someone you never want to leave and the connection you have. It’s scary and wonderful at the same time.”
Rick walks into the bar and gives Sam a hug. He puts his arms around me from behind and holds me, joining our conversation. “Two of my favorite women laughing together and getting quiet when I walk up is kind of disturbing.” Leaning over he kisses my cheek.
“Your sister is great,” I say as I try to turn back to him.
“I knew you two would hit it off,” he stops. “Not sure I should’ve given you time alone.”
“Don’t worry, no embarrassing stories were shared,” Sam says and glances at me knowingly.
Rick cringes, “Did you tell Mom about Sherry?” he asks Sam.
“No, but you should’ve before you grabbed her like a wild man and dragged her into the dug out this afternoon after the game. I got questioned like I’m your keeper, baby brother. Mom was shocked to see you do that and started rambling something about as long as you’re happy, she guesses you're an adult and can be a player if you want. I reminded her you aren’t a player and she mumbled something about more grandchildren.”
Rick tightens his arms around me, letting me know he likes the thought and whispers in my ear, “I love having you as part of my someday.” He softly kisses me below my ear and orders shots of Jack for the three of us.
Sam glares at us shaking her head, “You need to get a room! I guess you two will be ditching me and the parents right after dinner. No way to get you to hang out for karaoke in the bar? I never get out of the house.”
I look at Rick with big eyes and he sighs, “Karaoke will be fun, but we might not stay all night.”
I smile and clap like a fool. Yay! Karaoke!
The three of us shoot the Jack and continue with easy conversation until their parents show up. His father is a handsome older man who still has a full head of hair, dressed in a Seals polo shirt, and jeans. His mother is blonde with the same bright blue eyes he shares with his sister, she’s showing her age, and thicker than she should be. She’s dressed in capri length gauchos and a peasant style top, well put together except for the look of worry on her face.
His mother walks in and goes directly to him, pulling him from around me to hug him. “When did you start dragging random women into the dugout after the game?”
“It’s nice to see you, too. Mom, this is Sherry and she’s the only woman I’ve ever pulled into a dugout—not a random woman,” making a direct point.
His Dad shook his hand, “Good game today. You were on point when you finally came in to play. Weren
t you on the original lineup?”
“Yeah, Skip scratched me as a punishment for being a few minutes late getting to the stadium this morning. I worked him until he put me in. I told Sherry I’d make it a win today, so I had to make it happen.”
“I approve of any girl that has a positive impact on the game, and being a beautiful blonde doesn’t hurt. It’s nice to meet you, Sherry,” Mr. Seno says politely.
“It’s nice to meet you, too, sir,” I reach to shake his hand, but he pulls me in for a hug. His Mom is not so easy. Apparently, he’s still her baby at age 28.
We eat in the bar since Sam wants to do karaoke. We sit down at the table and Mrs. Seno starts with the questions.
“So, Sherry, what do you do for a living?”
