The Wolfe Brothers Page 5

He crouches down next to where I just was and peers at the prints closer. “They are too big to be a dog. I have no clue what it is.”

There’s that word again. Dog. From the dog on my bed this morning to a huge dog running around outside, I’m losing my shit.

“I think I need to drink more,” I declare and walk away from the prints. If I keep looking at them, I’m going to go crazy.

There is just a slight wind coming through the desert, just enough to tease you with something cold. Once it’s gone, you remember where you are and that’s Hell.

I reach behind me for my water bottle to take a swig before continuing the track. Once I’m done, I put it away and begin the walk back to the car to go check out the next quadrant.

“Holy shit!” Bernie grumbles looking off into the distance.

I stop what I’m doing and turn ready to fight for my partner. What I see is something I never thought I would see.

“That is a large dog, right? Am I going fucking crazy?” Bernie begs.

I shake my head. There are four very large dogs leading a group of scared girls to one of the unknown caves they must have built within the past hour. There has to be at least twenty girls in a huge variety of clothing.

This is how they have been sneaking them in! And that’s where the animal footprints come from.

“What are those?” I whisper, as I creep closer to the cave the dogs are stuffing the women into.

“I have no idea. Are they wolves?”

“Why the fuck would wolves be helping them traffick women?” I throw out.

Suddenly the dogs are gone and there are four men with the girls. The men are walking around the girls, lifting them up in the air and checking something before putting them back down. Every time one of them goes into the cave, another one is thrust into the air.

“You have got to be kidding me!” I cry out.

“Did you see that?” Bernie whispers.

“What the actual fuck is going on?” I’m at a loss for words. I can’t even begin to fathom what this means. Dogs turn into people? People turn into dogs?

What is this? Twilight? What the hell is happening?

That’s when I remember about the dog on the end of my bed. I swear it was there. I was looking at the sleeping form of a dog until I called attention to it. Once I got the other guys’ attention, they started calling out to Kody and he woke up. As a human.

But he was a dog five seconds before.

Maybe I have gone crazy. As soon as I handle the dog-men, I think I’ll go find a shrink or something.

  Chapter Eleven

  Tank

Trinity and her partner had bit off more than they could chew when they crossed paths with King’s four men. His men had acted like they didn’t see or smell Trinity and her partner and continued taking the women into the cave. They played it cool because what Trinity didn’t realize was that there were six more of King’s goons lurking in the darkness watching their every move.

Trinity and her partner were consumed with trying to figure out what the fuck they had just seen. Instead of worrying about that, they needed to worry about if there were more shapeshifters in the area. As soon as this shit is over, we are going to sit down with her and have a chat about her quitting her job.

“I knew I smelled wet dog,” one of King’s goons-- a brown wolf-- growls walking up to Randy, Kody and me. His five packmates are right behind him, also in their wolf form.

“Wet dog?” Kody takes a step towards the six.

“Yeah. Wet. Mutt,” a white wolf chuckles. “Where’s your daddy, Caine?”

These rat mother fuckers have some balls callin’ out our prez like this. What they don’t realize is we are out on an appointed journey where we don’t need to be led around by our dicks. Caine has never been one to babysit any of the brothers in the MC and he always appreciated our tracking skills. We have respect in the brotherhood.

Unlike King’s brotherhood. King runs his club like a brutal dictator. One that isn’t afraid of killin’ someone off just because they didn’t agree with what King has to say.

We’re no Weekend Warriors at Dark Wolves, but we don’t kill a brother for disagreeing.

If that was the case, I wouldn’t be a triplet anymore.

“Unlike King, Caine doesn’t need to hold our fuckin’ hand to do stuff,” Randy snaps.

“That bitch over there smells like these mutts,” the gray wolf gestures in Trinity’s direction. She’s a few miles away, but I know exactly who he’s talking about.

“Better watch your fucking tongue, boy!” I snarl and Randy rushes past me towards the guy.

Randy’s fuse is already lit by the man’s words. No doubt it is the word bitch that triggers his temper.

Randy’s large brown-furred body bulldozed into the gray wolf. The gray wolf’s body hit the ground with force. Randy’s teeth are showing and he’s snarling in the gray wolf’s face.

“Mother fu--” the gray wolf growls and begins to stand. Randy lunges at the wolf again. This time Randy clamps his teeth around the wolf’s neck. With the wolf in his mouth, Randy shakes his head ferociously then tosses the limp wolf to the ground.

“Someone else call her a bitch. I fuckin’ dare ya!” Randy’s nostrils flares with each heavy breath he takes. His brown eyes are glowing yellow. He’s ready to fuck some more people up. If it was a fight King’s men were looking for, it’s a fight they just got.

“Tanner? Tanner?” A younger brown wolf calls out as he walks over to the wolf Randy just tossed like a ragdoll. When the other wolf doesn’t move, the brown wolf turns to Randy with his teeth showing.

“I wouldn’t if I were you, kid,” Kody smirks at the younger brown wolf.

Kody’s words went in and out of the kid’s ears. The kid launched at Randy, but he never got a paw on Randy because Kody took care of that. In one large chomp, Kody had the kid’s body limp and tossed several feet away.

“This is their enforcement team?” Randy snickers. “They’re still wet behind their fuckin’ ears.”

“Kill these, motherfuckers! What are you waiting for?”

Not sure which one of King’s goons yelled it. Honestly, it didn’t fuck matter. We weren’t here shoot the shit. We were here to keep our girl safe and she wouldn’t be until these fuckers were dead.

“I thought you’d never ask,” I smirk before jumping at the biggest of the remaining wolves.

Randy finishes off the last of the King’s enforcement team and tosses the body as far as he could.

“Motherfuckers,” he growls. “I’m tired of these fuckers!”

“You and me both, brother,” I assure him. “Let’s go get Trinity.”

We begin running in her direction.

“She’s going to freak,” Randy speaks up, when we’re less than a mile away from Trinity. “You saw how she looked when she saw King’s men shift. She might not want us.”

I come to a halt. The suddenness is so fast that I damn near tumble over. Randy and Kody have stopped a few paces ahead of me. They are both looking at me.

“What do we do if she doesn’t want to be with us, Tank?” Kody asks. He sounds every bit of nervous that I am. Only I’ll never admit it.

“We’ll worry about that when the time--” My leg suddenly vibrating, and the ringing has me shutting up. I shift quickly and snatch my phone from my back pocket. “What’s up, Prez?” I answer.

“We need to find what the fuck King is up to” Caine snaps at me. I can’t help but grin.

“Well, I can tell you what six of them aren’t doing,” I smirk.

  “What’s that?”

“Breathing. Fuckers thought they were going to ambush our-- Longhorn. They thought they were going to ambush Longhorn, so we handled them.”

“Longhorn?” Prez sounds amused. “Cute. Real cute, Tank. We need you to find King. I don’t want him dead yet. That rat fuck is gonna get his when I get my hands on him.”

  I grin a
t the thought of what prez would do to him. King would shit his pants if another alpha approached him and put him in his place. It would be the highlight of my fuckin’ life with this club to see King being pushed around by Caine.

Caine isn’t the type to handle this laying down and he sure as shit isn’t going to roll over for King. If the president of Dark Wolves wants us to find King, he’s got it.

Even though I want to earn Trinity’s trust and all that other mushy shit, our priority is to the club. Dark Wolves comes first.

And truth be told, I miss ridin’ my Harley Davidson Fat Boy. That bike is definitely my pride and joy until I met Trinity.

My brothers are looking at me with their eyebrows raised. I know they are worried about the inevitable call from prez to come back. We all want to be here for Trinity, but we gotta be there for our prez.

I just hope Trinity would understand.

  Chapter Twelve

  Trinity

For the whole day, I weigh the possibility of seeing those large dogs change into people is just my mind playing tricks on me. Is having too much sex a cause of changing your eyesight? Is that what is happening?

I pull the pony out of my hair and slip the holder around my wrist. As I shake out my hair, I hear the thumping of footprints behind me.

“Jesus fuck!” I yell, spinning on my feet with my gun aimed at the noise.

“Trin! It’s just us!” Kody calls out with his hands up in the air.

Through the heat of the sun, I look at the three men who have fucked me sideways staring at me with slack jaws. I narrow my eyes at their shirtless torsos and the tight jeans which hug their muscular hips. And thighs. And the outline of their dicks.

I squeeze my thighs together. “What are you doing here?” I demand looking around to see if anyone else is looking at us. Most of the people in the office are either on a call or paying attention to their cell phones. “And where the Sam hell are your shirts?”

Randy saunters over to me as if he doesn’t have a care in the world. He gets closer to me until he’s touching my front with his. Even though he is sweaty, the man is still sexy. His chest is hot from the sun and whatever the hell he was doing making him a little redder than normal.

“How did you get out here?” I question.

Randy fuses his mouth with mine. The instant his hot lips touched mine, I melt. My arms wrap around his neck, pulling him flush against me. He slips his arms around me, thrusting his sexy hips against me.

“Get a fucking room, Trinity!” Bernie shouts.

I break apart from Randy and the reality of everything that has happened today is too much for me. I need to remember what I have to do here. And what I must do is going to be hard.

What I have to do is probably going to send me the psych ward.

“Where’s your car?” I ask the same question as before but in a different manner.

The three back up from me and look at each other. Tank’s the one that actually addresses my question. “Baby, we’ll meet you back at your house in about an hour.”

All three of them kiss me goodbye, running off behind the building.

“What the fuck just happened?” I ask myself.

Did they just appear out of nowhere or am I officially losing my mind?

  ***

By the time I get home, I’m even more confused than before. I stopped at McDonald’s for comfort food, though. So, we have that going for me. The fries tasted a little too good for my liking, though. I have been doing my best trying to stop eating fast food, but sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do.

I’m slurping down the last of my strawberry shake when I pull into my driveway to see my three lovers seated on my porch. Again, I look around for any type of vehicle, and I don’t see one.

Is everyone trying to make me feel crazy today? If not, I don’t know what’s up with the world.

I slam my car into park, yank the keys out of the ignition and slide out of my car to confront them. I need answers.

“Where’s your car?” I ask with my eyebrow raised. My hands go to my hips, but they are still a little cold from my milkshake. I shiver a little and feel my nipples harden.

Obviously just from my cold hands. Not from the man candy standing in front of me.

“We should go inside,” Tank suggests.

I shake my head. “I’m tired of people making me feel crazy today! So, I’m just going to say it. And after I’m done, you guys will probably commit me to a damn padded room, but I have to tell you what I saw and what I saw was crazy. Did you turn into a fucking dog last night?” I ask Kody.

Kody’s eyes change colors. They get darker in the sun as his breathing spikes. I can tell he’s getting pissed by my questioning. I don’t care though.

“Answer my question!” I yell at him.

“Fuck,” Randy mumbles under his breath.

“There is a lot of shit going on around here and I want to know what that is. I demand you tell me right now or get the fuck out of my life.” I have never been this downright straight with someone before, but I have to be. I have to protect my heart, and this is the only way I can do it.

Tank is the one who opens his mouth to speak but I stick my hand out to shut him up.

“Brothers, we gotta tell her,” Kody mumbles. “Trin, you don’t live in the world that you think you do. When we said you are our mate, we meant it and we want to do everything we can to be with you… But you gotta know something.”

“We’re not showin’ her out here!” Tank exclaims.

“Fine. We can go to the backyard,” I suggest.

Leading the way to my backyard in the hot sun after being out in it all day, is a little too much for me. I think the sun has burned my brain cells and that’s why I think I saw dogs turn into men. That has to be it.

Once we’re in the back, I grab a patio chair and sit under the umbrella. Kody steps towards me. To my shock, the other two do it as well. “Uh, what is going on?”

“You don’t live in the world that you think you do,” Kody repeats.

And just like that, my three lovers transform into very large dogs in front of me. I blink my eyes and scream. I scream so loud; I wouldn’t be surprised if the cops were called.

Just as suddenly they transformed into dogs, they transformed back into people.

“Trinity, we have been tryin’ to tell you,” Randy soothes me. As he reaches for me, I jump out of my chair.

I can’t be close to them. I can’t see their faces knowing what they are. I can’t do it, but I need to do it. I need to know what they are before I lose my mind any more than I already have.

“You have three minutes to tell me what the fuck that was. And after that three minutes, you guys are going to leave and let me process it,” I advise.

  They owe it to me.

“We definitely don’t need three minutes,” Kody grumbles under his breath. “We are shifters. We are a very special kind of shifter since we’re triplets. Caine, our Alpha, uses our tracking skills. That’s it.”

Randy walks towards me, but I throw my hand out to stop him. “Don’t come close to me.”

He stops in front of me. “Look, baby. You’re askin’ us not to touch you or get close to you, but we have to. You’re our mate.”

“What the fuck does that even mean?” I blurt. “Uh, I mean…”

“It means, you were made for us and we were made for you,” Tank explains.

“So, they were dogs I saw out in the field today?” I ask.

“Not dogs. They are wolves. Just like us. But they are doin’ some shifty fuckin’ things,” Kody shares with his shoulder rising.

  “And the motorcycle gang?”

They all chuckle. “We’re not in a gang!” They yell at the same time. Apparently, I’m not the only one who has called it that.

“Whatever it is called. What is it? Is it a front? Do you know those wolves I saw earlier? Do you do that with women, too?”

My stomach drops into my sh
oes. There is no way I could live with myself knowing that they have hurt those girls, too. What have I done? Oh god, what have I done?

Randy’s eyes darken as he tries to control his anger. “I’m gonna let that pass one time. Don’t ever think we would hurt a woman or a girl. Ever. We’re not King and we’re not King’s men. That bull shit has nothing to do with what we do.”
