My stomach clenches and to ease the tight coils, I take a large swallow of my beer as I return my gaze to the woman in question. The deep vee of her black silk top displays amble of her breasts and I know without seeing, her black pants hug the curve of her ass. Eve’s had lovers before me. She’ll probably go ahead and have more lovers after our affair is over. My fingers clasp the neck of the bottle and bile rises in my throat as I bank down thoughts of a future without her. I’ve shared women with Day in the past. Fuck, I’ve shared women with women and had some of the best sex. Kinky and vanilla, it makes no difference to me as long I and everyone involved are satisfied. “Not tonight, Day. She’s not one of the club’s whores.”

“She’s got you by the balls, Bastian.”

My smile deepens and my cock grows, pressing against the metal of my zipper. I should rearrange myself, ease the pain, instead I welcome it. Wishing it’ll dampen the lust raging through my body. As I watch Eve, my smile deepens. Fuck, the ride had been torturous for my body as Eve leaned intimately into me. Teasing the low hum of sexual tension just beneath the surface of my flesh. As I watch Eve take a sip of her beer, her lips wrap around the bottle, I turn to Day. “And the cock, Day. Those lips of hers are magic. Pure magic.”

“Shit. You’re going the same way as Leon.”

I scan the room for Leon and find him at the door. Tonight, he’s on duty and Firebird is nowhere in the room. “No, Eve and I have different plans for the future.”

  “Want to make a wager.”

I follow Day’s gaze which is on Eve. “What’s the deal?”

Day turns to me. His smile deep. As he licks his lips, I hear the provable door clang with a resounding click echoing through me. “When you’ve had enough of Eve. Pass her on to me.” His smile deepens. “Going by the way you strut around. She’s gonna be good.”

I’m unsure about Eve having me by the balls, but as I stare at Day, my fingers clench. This wouldn’t be the first fight Day and I have had. It was in the schoolyard as cocky pubescent boys we had met. Day, Leon and TJ were already part of River Demons. Born into a club by Blood. Twiggy and me, we were the bruisers of the school. Day and his “brothers’” reputations were spreading through the school. Twiggy and I had offered protection for a price to the boys intimidated by the River Demons one-a-be brats. The fight hadn’t lasted long. The St John’s had walked away the winners. Later that day, Day approached me and made me an offer. An offer I accepted. Twiggy hadn’t. We were barely teenagers and I was a River Demon wanna be. I’d strutted for days. Day is a different person to whom he was that day. Over the years he’s honed his fighting skills and I’ve lost a few fights to him. With slow, precise movements I flex my fingers and lift the beer to my lips. “If she wants you. You can have her.”

“Can I, Bastian. Will you stand by as the guys fuck her?”

I swallow the rest of my beer. The amber liquid bitter as it slides down my throat. “What happened to you, Day. Eve’s a good woman. Why would you want to turn her into a skank?”

“It’s not me, Bastian. It’s your wager. If she means nothing to you. You shouldn’t worry about what happens to her afterwards.”

“You’re pissed off, Day. Whoever it is. They’ve rattled you. Take a good look in the mirror. Then come and tell us what the problem is. We can help. It’s why we’re here.”

Day takes a swallow of his beer. His eyes back on Eve. “Do we have a wager?”

I watch Eve and nod. “Sure. I’ll even wish you luck with her.”

Day nods and as he walks away, I release the air trapped in my lungs and the beat of my heart returns to normal

“Be careful with this game, Bastian.”

I turn to Kit and smile my first genuine smile since bumping into Day. “He’s pissed and taking it out on me because someone’s threatened Poppy, and Firebird is out-of-bounds.”

Kit watches Day as he circles the room. “You don’t think he’ll take you up on that wager.”

“Eve’s a big girl. She can look after herself.”

“And if she goes to Day’s bed.”

Shit. They were all seeing something that isn’t there. “What she does after me is her business.”

Kit chuckles, then slaps me on the shoulder. “I believe you. Hey, maybe after Day’s finished with her. I’ll have a go.”

The blood heats my forehead as I grit my teeth and pain shoots through my brain. “No one told me we were moving the charter to Washington”

Kit slaps me again and my teeth clash on the glass of the bottle neck. “You’re a goner, Bastian. Accept it. Tell Day, the wager’s off.” Kit’s gaze goes to Eve, who glances in our direction and waves at her. “Because if Eve finds out about it. You’ll lose her.”

“She goes home tomorrow. Then It’ll be over.”

  Chapter 9

Eve - Demon’s Lair Noir Valley

The club’s private saloon is empty and with my coffee in hand, I curl up on the overstuffed couch. This morning’s wake-up call had been slow and far less busy than yesterdays. There were no interruptions. No visitors and no sex. Not that I’m complaining. There had been plenty of sexual activity and satisfaction during the night. Bastian hadn’t stayed at the casino until it closed. Instead, he had brought me back to his room just after eleven. Fully sated by the time Bastian had let me sleep, I thought I would have slept longer. But according to the clock on the wall it was only just after eight.

“I didn’t think anyone else was up?”

My gaze goes to Firebird as she walks into the room. Her feet are bare and the shirt she wears, hangs loose around her denim covered thighs. “I was watching the sunrise. It was beautiful.”

“That was hours ago. How would you know?”

I look out of the window and take a sip of my coffee. “Have you seen that morning. I didn’t have to be there to know it was beautiful.”

“Want to talk about it.” Firebird curls her body into the chair opposite.

I watch as she sips her coffee, then shake my head. “What’s happening with Poppy.”

“She’s moving back to the house. Mia’s moving in with her.”

“And Day has agreed to this?”

Firebird chuckles into her mug as she nods. “He had no choice. Besides, Poppy’s agreed to Data moving in.”

“Bastian’s house is becoming quite the Fret House.” I chuckle into my own mug, then swallow the last mouthful of coffee and place the mug on the low coffee table.

Firebird giggles. “I don’t see Bastian as Fret House Master.”

“I don’t know. A couple of young nubile females running semi naked around his house.”

“You haven’t met, Hank. Mia’s brother.”

  “No.”

“Let’s just say Poppy and Mia are safe from insensitive advances from amorous intruders.”

“I’m glad I’m an only child.” I look at Firebird. “They kinda have double standards”

Firebird wrinkles her nose. “They look after their own and the women at the club. Which makes them stifling at times. But you learn to handle them.”

  “Like you do with Leon.”

“If I’m in trouble. He’ll come to my rescue.”

I look at the empty mug, then turn to Firebird. “Would he still want you. Find you attractive if you had a mastectomy.”

Firebird smiles as she places her own coffee mug on the table. Her bright gaze on me and I feel it in my soul and shuffle up against the cushion beneath me. “Do you have cancer.”

I shake my head. “No, but it runs in the family.”

  “You’re thinking about it”

“Yes. Bastian likes my breast. He’s a tits man.”

“Never mind about Bastian. What about you?”

“I’ve had breast since I was thirteen. I can’t think of my body without them.”

Firebird glances at my breasts, then she looks down her top. “I’m pretty flat chested. Two pebbles on a deserted beach. If I had a mastectomy, I doubt it would make much of
a difference.”

“No. What about the scars you’re left with. Fuck, you’d think they’d have the skills not to leave such an ugly mess behind.”

Firebird tilts her head to the side. “There’s reconstruction.”

“My career is going great. However, I’m still on the lower rung of the ladder. I couldn’t afford a reconstruction. Not at the moment.”

“How about support groups. Have you been to any?

“No.” I nibble on the knuckle of my thumb, then drop my hand. ‘I’d feel a fraud. Those women are going through what I’m thinking of preventing.

“Give me your number. I’ll check out some books for you.”

  “Thanks.”

“You left before I could wake you. It’s becoming a habit.” I look up and watch Bastian as he strolls into the room. His jeans are slung low around his hips. The top button open. His chest is bare and the pulse in my pussy comes to life. As he strolls closer, my gaze fixates on his crotch. Hours earlier, he was inside me. He had me chasing an orgasm which had taken forever for me to reach. Keeping me on edge until he was ready for me to climax. And when I did, I had floated back to earth only to be taken again.

“Keep looking at me like that and not only will I forgive you for leaving my bed without a morning kiss. I’ll take you here. Right in front of Firebird. Audience or no audience.”

I blink as the playful banter in Bastian’s voice teases me. The pulse in my pussy speeds up and I just might take him up on his offer. I’ll be leaving soon. A few more hours in his bed with him between my legs. Just might keep me going for a few days. “What and miss out on a beautiful day like today.”

The world darkens as he leans over and lowers his head. He tastes of mint toothpaste and milky coffee. His tongue tangles with mine. His kiss reaches the pit of my stomach and as the coils in my stomach tighten, my toes curl. “I can make the day incredibly beautiful.” My reality is lost in another of Bastian’s kisses.

  “Don’t mind me.”

“Shit.” Bastian pulls away, glances over at Firebird, then sits beside me on the couch. His body is close and his warmth seeps into me. “Don’t you have a man of your own you can torment.”

Firebird chuckles as she reaches for her coffee and leans back into her chair. “I can get my rocks off here without Leon.”

Bastian’s fingers stroke the back of my neck and a shiver tingles down my spine leaving goosebumps along my arms. He leans into me and his breath warms my ears. “I take it back about an audience. Especially Firebird. She’ll get just as much enjoyment out of watching.”

“Watching.” I smile as I turn my gaze to Firebird.

The redhead is wearing her own smile and the pit of my stomach yanks at the sexual gleam in her gaze. “I like to watch others while they get down and dirty.” She chuckles. “The dirtier the better. Leon encourages it. That is as long as I only have sex with him.” Firebird gives a shrug. “I only watch others. Leon can and does satisfy me.”

Bastian’s fingers linger at the hem of my tee-shirt. The tips brushes against the flesh of my back and desire runs rampant in my blood. I clench my legs as a dampness gathers at the top of my thighs. Firebird’s gaze is on me and I cannot tear mine away from her and I lick my lips. It would be easy to give into the desire. Into the trap Bastian and Firebird are pulling me in to. Bastian’s lips tease the base of my neck as his fingers stroke the flesh of my stomach. As I breathe in deep, my stomach constricts, and I blink once more. With a shake of my head, I break free of the lust fueled atmosphere. “I’m having another coffee. Anyone want one?”

The noise of life downstairs filters into the bedroom. “Mia, what do you want on your pizza?” With Alex’s help Mia was already settled in the house by the time we arrived.

  “Not the weekend you expected.”

I pull on a fresh tee-shirt and turn to look at Bastian. The bed sheet is slung low, just covering his pelvic bone. It’s less than fifteen minutes since he climaxed inside me and already his cock is bulging against the sheet. “I don’t know. I planned to have sex. And I’ve had plenty.”

“I like that about you Eve. Always looking on the bright side.”

I pull on my jeans, but I don’t fasten them as I straddle Bastian and kiss him. My essence still lingers on his tongue and it is with regret I pull away from the kiss. I lean back against his bent legs. “Even with all the drama, I’ve enjoyed this weekend.”

“Enjoyed it enough to come back for more?”

“Don’t you think your house is crowded enough without inviting me back.”

“We can stay at the Riverboat.”

“And what. Keep the cabin door locked in case you get the notion to invite Firebird to watch.”

Bastian’s hands linger on my hips. His touch warm as he slips his fingers beneath the open band. His chuckle has my stomach contracts as the coils tighten. “You nearly gave in Eve. Tell me you were tempted by the idea of Firebird watching you as I fucked you. Bringing you to a climax which would have shattered your body.”

“I might have been tempted. But I would have been too self-conscious to relax.”

“Maybe we should put it to the test on your next visit.”

I lean forward and kiss Bastian. His hands are on my back and I thrust against his hips. The temptation to stay a little longer teases me and it is with a groan of regret, I climb off him.

When I’d come back to Bastian’s house to pack, the women had put on a movie on, and I had found myself in Bastian’s bed. “We won’t need to put it to the test.”

Bastian, who was in the process of pushing my jeans down, stops and looks up at me. “You’re not coming back.”

I slide off his lap and slip my shoes on. Only after I’ve zipped my overnight bag, do I turn to Bastian. “I’ve a new project I need to work on. Oliver’s agreed it’s viable for me to work on it from here.”

“You’re coming back to Noir Valley.”

I nod. “I have an itch to scratch. The house hasn’t sold yet. You can move in with me.” I step closer to Bastian. I am putting my life in his hands. If it works, it works. If not, we’ll have had a good time in the meantime.

  *****

  Bastian Demon’s Lair Noir Valley.

If there’s one thing I’ve come to love over the years, it’s the constant chatter in the casino and the clink of glass as our patrons drink our liquor. Tonight, I hate the sound. I watch Flash as she comes into the room. She’s been with the club for about a decade, riding in with a boyfriend who dumped her two weeks after being accepted as a Prospect. She had become one of the women. Sixteen and naive. Now at twenty-six she knew all the girls. Who to put to work where and how to get the best out of them. She also knows how to use her body and I smile. An opportunity she never fails to use. Even now, although she is about to go to work, she smiles that open invitation of hers at me. I take a sip of my water. For the fourth night since Eve returned to Washington I have volunteered to work at the casino instead of playing the tables. I keep my gaze on Flash as she makes her way over to me. Her hips sashay as she glides across the room. The gawky teenager is long gone. Although we were never officially an item. Neither of us boyfriend-girlfriend material. Over the decade, she has been my main fuck buddy. She was always happy to welcome a second and occasionally, a third into our bed. Often choosing the lucky participations in our sex games. My smile deepens. Flash never fails to raise my lust and one of the best nights I had with her was the weekend with Twiggy before he settled down with Yvette. I take another sip of my water as I remember Yvette. The skittish colt who tamed Twiggy.

  “Want to hook up later.”

Lost in my memories, I failed to notice Flash was in touching distance. Flash is tall, lithe and limber. Since fucking Eve, Flash hasn’t done a thing to my cock and I shake my head. Flash’s fingers tap along my arm and I watch her fingers. Her nails bright red. Her hands have brought me to more than one orgasm. She is an accomplished lover and there is nothing technical in her touch. “Not tonig
ht.”

“When, Bastian?” Flash glances around the room. Her gaze skims over the women, then she’s looking at me. “You haven’t fucked anyone since Eve left.”

  “Are you keeping track, Flash.”

The gleam in her gaze is feral, then she has it under control as she shakes her head. “No – Just that it’s been a while since we had some fun.”

Flash isn’t exclusive to me. She works for the club. Which means she sleeps with the men who play at the casino and the men we do business with. About me not fucking anyone since Eve left. I haven’t. It wasn’t intentional. Every night I check the whores out. Watch them in the same way I watched Flash tonight as she entered the room and not one of them had caused my cock to twitch, never mind rise. “Just not tonight, Flash. Some other time.”

“Eve’s left, Bastian. It’ll be a shame if you’re hungering after her and miss out on what’s on offer here.”

  “She’s coming back.”

Flash steps closer. Her perfume teases the fine hairs of my nose. There’s a slight twitch down below, but not enough to get me interested. “Is she. Maybe when she’s back. The three of us can hook-up.”

Flash’s body is close to mine and I stroke her ass as I nod. “Maybe.” I kiss her on the forehead as I turn her to the private room she’s working tonight. Like I said, Flash works our special customers. I search the room for Day and find him talking to Alex. The Riverboat hasn’t set sail yet and I no longer feel like working.

I ride past Eve’s home. The lights are out, and I park the car in front of the drive as I watch the house. The for-sale sign is still up, and a couple of people have looked over the house since Eve left Noir Valley four days ago. Eve hadn’t taken my proposition about buying the house seriously and if I want to keep Eve in Noir Valley for a while, I’ll have to find a way to put off the other buyers. I smile, Eve doesn’t need to know the offer is from me.
