I told Blake everything.
My grip on the letter tightens.
He told Blake?
Blake knows?
Don’t worry…he’s not upset or mad at you and he doesn’t think you’re pathetic or anything like that. As for everyone else, they just think that we broke up, unless you want it otherwise.
I’m going to leave you alone, Britt. It’ll be like I don’t even exist. I’m going to help you get what you wanted—what you want.
He’s going to leave me alone? Not exis—what I want?
Blake.
Blake and I have decided to remain friends, best friends. We don’t want to throw away a thirteen-year-old friendship, but I swear it won’t interfere with my promise to you. I’m done causing you problems. That’s my promise to you, Witty-Britty.

Look out my window?
I wipe at my eyes then turn and push my drapes aside to see Blake standing outside with his hands in his pockets.
What the—Blake’s here!
I scramble off my bed, straighten my clothes, and brush my hair the best I can. Then I slip on a pair of flip-flops before running downstairs…nearly killing myself in the process by almost tripping.
The second I’m outside, all I want to do is run up to Blake and throw my arms around his neck, but instead I calmly walk over to him. “Hey.”
“Brittany,” he says my name softly, “Derek told me—”
“I know,” I interrupt him, “are you…mad?”
“No.” He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “I’m not mad.”
I bite my lip. “And Savannah?”
“She’s not who I thought she was.” He sighs. “You were right about her and…I miss you, Britt.”
“So,” I start, feeling somewhat breathless, “does this mean that, that you…”
He slowly takes my hands in his. “It means that you and I are—”
“Together again?” I blurt out, unable to stop myself and he tilts his head to the side. “Is that what you want?”
I smile, feeling giddy as well as somewhat shy. “It’s what I’ve always wanted.”
He nods with a smile of his own. “Then it’s what I want too.”
And with that, he kisses me.

Wow. This is so surreal. Did I ever think that I was going to write a book? Not really. I was actually pretty convinced that my diary would be the only book that I’d ever “write.”
Fun fact: I’ve never even officially filled up any of my diaries/journals…you can imagine my surprise.
Being that “My Boyfriend’s Best Friend” is the first legit book I’ve written and that it’s also the first book I’ve ever published, Brittany’s story will always have a special place in my writing journey and I’m so glad that I’ve been able to share that with you!
Also, let me just say that this book would’ve never happened without the love for creativity/writing that God has given to me, the education that I’ve been blessed with, the love/support of my family, and the random thought of what would happen if a girl decided to date her boyfriend’s best friend. :)
Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to write and publish this book, and thank you for reading it!
