“Gorgeous, actually,” he murmured into my skin. I gasped when he found my nipple, laving at it with his tongue, moving his head again until his teeth were sinking into my collarbone, his hands already undoing my fly, a heady thrill spiraling down my spine as his fingertips brushed teasingly against my hardening cock. “And good to me,” Raine whispered, stroking me in one smooth, slow motion, my eyes flying open and a loud, throaty groan rolling out from my chest. “So good to me.”

He pressed his forehead against mine, the heat of his skin and the familiar, intoxicating scent of him -- citrus and cinnamon -- comforting and arousing all at once. He stroked me at a pace that was achingly slow without the bite of frustration, sweet fire and tender longing, until I was panting, rocking into the tight embrace of his fist. Raine murmured praises into my eat, the gusting heat of his breath and my own shy embarrassment at his words swelling the pleasure building within me -- he told me how gorgeous I looked, how he wanted to make me feel so, so good, how much he wanted me.

It was too much, too fast. I grabbed his wrist with my hand, forced myself to still, my entire body trembling in protest. Raine’s other hand stroked gently down my back, soothing me until I finally stopped shaking.

Raine’s eyes glittered with amusement as I nearly tore his shirt off of him, yanked his own pants and underwear past his ankles, desperate and aching with desire.

“You are impatient, though,” Raine sighed, his voice low and fond, with a searing nip at my earlobe, and then I kissed him hard enough to bruise, pressing him back into the mattress. I swallowed his low, throaty moans as my arms encircled around him, relishing in the feel of the two of us naked and in each other’s arms at long last, skin pressing against skin.

I wrapped my hand around his cock, the velvet heat burning against the rough skin of my palm. Raine’s head lolled back as I moved, his eyes squeezing shut, his mouth falling open. I stroked him, slow and thorough, watched every twitch of his body, felt every desperate jerk of his hips into my hand, heard every sharp inhale, felt his pulse pounding through his length. My toes curled, my breathing shallow and quick.

“You wouldn’t be patient either,” I growled, and Raine’s brown eyes snapped back upon, on me, dark and clouded with lust, “if you could see what I’m looking at right now.”

Raine huffed a breathy laugh. “It’s a good thing I’m pretty impatient, too, then.” He gently pushed at me for a moment, and I obediently rolled off of him, my body chilling almost instantly without the heat of him on my skin. He leaned over the bed, fumbling in the pocket of his pants for a moment, and then I heard the telltale click of a cap of lube.

Raine turned around with a satisfied smile, falling back onto the bed with a deep sigh, all leg and taught, lithe muscle, all him, all mine. I watched, completely enraptured by his movements, as he spread the lube judiciously over two of his fingers. His hands moved slowly down his chest, over his stomach, past the rigid length of his leaking cock, and lower still. And then, with that playful glint that had first pulled me to him not long ago, I watched as both of his fingers disappeared inside of him.

I groaned, watching his fingers slide easily in and out of him, in and out. In an instant, I was hovering over him again, watching his eyes glaze over in ecstasy as he continued to push his fingers deeper and deeper within him, scissoring them and crying out at the feel of it, my lust threatening to overpower more and more me every minute I watched.

“Raine,” I grunted, the coiling heat low in my core aching to burst loose, my cock throbbing incessantly against my stomach. “Please, please let me fuck you.”

I heard Raine’s breathing hitch at my words. He withdrew his fingers, spreading his legs wide, his eyes searching my face.

“Fuck me then,” he said, quiet and firm, sending a fresh jolt of heat throughout my entire body, every muscle in my body taut as a bowstring. I moved quickly, taking the bottle of lube and spreading it over my cock before positioning myself at his entrance. I held my weight up with one hand near Raine’s head on the pillows, my other hand on my cock, guiding myself into Raine.

Our groans mixed together, and my vision sparked and swum, the whole world nothing but Raine’s impossibly tight, all-encompassing heat. I trembled with the urge not to bury myself completely inside him with a single thrust, instead moving inch by slow, exquisite inch, feeling him stretch around me, welcoming me inside him.

“Feel okay?” I asked him, my voice strained and hoarse. Raine’s face was flushed and sweaty, his hair sticking to his forehead, a gorgeous mess.

“Yeah,” he replied, nodding vigorously. “Oh, God, yeah.” He moaned. “God, Quinn, you feel so good.”

That was all I needed. I rolled my hips forward, Raine crying out as I moved, trying to hit at that perfect spot inside of him, the molten friction nearly more than I could bear. He became a wild thing underneath me, writhing with my every movement, pushing back against me, wanton and moaning and urging me faster, harder --

I made a keening noise, half desperation, half despair. I felt like a raw nerve, oversensitive and exposed, every sensation pushing me closer and closer to the edge. “Raine,” I groaned, my hips snapping against the perfect curve of his ass. “Raine, I’m gonna --”

“Come inside me,” Raine whispered, his breath hot and moist against the shell of my ear. “I want to feel you come inside me, baby.”

That was all I needed. I tried to bite down on my lower lip, stifle the sound of my own pleasure, but a loud, aching cry tore out of my throat all the same. I came, harder than I ever have before, my vision graying out, a massive shudder rippling up my spine and throughout my entire body, the blood rushing my ears deafening, my breath heavy in my lungs.

Dimly, I felt Raine’s own orgasm splash against my stomach, his cry of release raw and loud, his thighs trembling against it. I pumped his cock with my hand, making sure he was completely spent, splattering more against me. I pulled out of him as carefully as I could, Raine hissing as we separated, and rolled to lay down next to him, my strength utterly gone, my limbs heavy and slow. We lay there for a long moment, Raine eventually gathering enough strength to inch himself close enough to me so I could put my arms around him. I felt him him nuzzle into the crook of my neck, sighing happily, smiling against my skin in the dark. With my last bit of energy, I wrapped us up in a cozy nest of blankets and sheets, keeping Raine close, and then I drifted off, my eyelids impossible to keep open any longer.

I woke to sunlight filling the room, the sound of birdsong through the window, Raine stirring awake at my side. I smiled as he yawned and stretched, a smile pulling at the corner of his mouth as he saw me.

“A good morning already,” he hummed, planting a clumsy kiss on my cheek, and I rumbled a soft laugh.

“It is,” I agreed, stroking his cheek, watching him lean against my palm when I put it on the side of his face. A perfect morning. “What time are the volunteers for the rest of the event clean up due back in?”

“Nine,” Raine said, tracing lazy patterns in my chest, seemingly lost in thought. When his gaze came back to me, his eyes were filled with something an emotion I couldn’t quite place.

“I love you,” he said, simply, and the world shifted hard to port. My face must’ve really been something, my cheeks burning with a furious blush, and Raine laughed as I sputtered, trying desperately to say anything at all in reply.

“You don’t have to say it back,” Raine continued. “I kind of...jump into this stuff early. But I feel it, and I want you to know that I do.”

I took his hand in mine, squeezed it tight. “I love you, too,” I murmured, watched the joy spread over on his face like a sunrise, pure and sweet and bright, his eyes shining with unshed tears.

“Good,” he choked out, his voice thick with emotion, hastily wiping at his eyes with the heel of hand. “Because it’s, you know, really awkward when you say it first and the other person doesn’t say anything.”

I laughed, kissing him firmly on the mouth, feeling him me
lt against me, the warmth of his skin on mine. A good morning.

I could get used to so many more of these.

“So Michael at school has two mommies,” Nicole said, dutifully carrying an armful of foam weapons, trailing behind Roux, who was carrying the last of the folding chairs back to the main office. The four of us were finishing up putting everything back into its place.

“Mm-hmm,” Roux replied, holding the door open for her. She strode inside, Raine and I carrying the table together behind her.

“If Michael can have two mommies,” she continued casually, walking into the back room, placing the weapons on the rack near the wall, Roux stacking the chairs beside her, “Then do you think it would it be okay if I had two daddies?”

Raine instantly froze, his eyes wide and horrified, the end of the table he was holding slamming to the floor with a heavy thud. Roux made a sputtering, choking noise, clapping a hand over his mouth, his eyes bright with mirth. Nicole looked between the two of them, the very picture of innocence, her brows knitting in confusion.

I carefully put down the other end of the table and walked over to Nicole, crouching down to be at her eye level.

“I think that would be fine,” I told her, and her face lit up with an enormous smile. I turned my head over to look at Raine, his eyes now as large as dinner plates, a brilliant red flush spreading from his neck to his ears. “As long as that’s okay with your dad, of course.”

Raine squeaked. Then he cleared his throat, shooting a dark glare at Roux, who was doubled over in bright, loud peaks of laughter.

“I’d have to think about it,” Raine replied evenly, visibly swallowing, and then, his voice as soft and low, ducking his gaze to the floor, added, “But I’m not opposed to the idea.”

Nicole clapped her hands together, hopping up and down before she threw her arms around me, encircling my neck.

“Two dads!” she singsonged, shrieking with laughter as I lifted her up as I stood back up to my full height, laughing with her. “I’m going to have two dads!”

“Maybe!” Raine corrected her, his face beet red by now, but he was smiling, wide and real.

“I’m maybe going to have two dads! I’m maybe going to have two dads!”

  Six Months Later…

“Thanks, Roux,” I told him, reaching out and clasping his forearm. “For everything.”

He pulled me in for a quick, tight hug, and I pretended not to notice his eyes were filled with tears. “You don’t have to thank me for being your friend, you know.”

“I kind of do, though.” I smiled at him as we pulled apart, and then I snapped down the visor on my helmet. “How do I look?”

Roux grinned, wiping at the corner of his eyes, providing a slight adjustment to my doublet where it hung from my torso, poking out from underneath my chainmail. “Like a man about to marry the love of his life.” He offered me his elbow. “Ready to tie the knot?”

“More than ready,” I replied. I took Roux’s arm as we walked out of the door of the main office, heading towards the gorgeous archway Eric had built for the occasion, ivy and honeysuckle flowers woven throughout its lattice. Quinn was already waiting at the altar, holding Nicole’s hand, fully embracing her Best Princess Girl role to complement Roux as our Best Man, dressed in a flowing teal gown with a matching pair of glittering fairy wings, courtesy of Kate. She started hopping up and down when she saw me and Roux walk out of the office, Quinn smiling down at her with a fondness in his eyes that never failed to make my heart soar.

As Roux walked me down the aisle, I saw that I was surrounded by a sea of familiar faces, all wearing brilliant smiles, a mix of armor styles, and a few dwarven beards. I was truly humbled by the number of people that had come to our wedding, many of them Lochmire regulars and included Quinn’s trio of soldiers. They all told me they wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Roux took our gauntlets and helmets from us, placing them in a small pile near the altar. The sun was bright and the weather gorgeous when Quinn took my hands in his, looking at me with such affection it stole my breath away. Nicole produced a pair of brilliant gold rings, forged by the same people I made most of our armor orders from and sent with their best wishes for the both of us. We exchanged the rings, sliding them onto each other’s fingers, the weight of it on my skin a reminder, now, of the love we shared together.

“Do you, Zander Quinn, take this man to be your lawfully husband?” asked Tiberion the Mad King, who also happened to be a licensed pastor when he wasn’t trying to conquer Juhanis.

“I do,” Quinn replied, his eyes never leaving mine.

“And do you, Raine Meyer, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?”

“I do,” I said, and the words couldn’t leave my mouth fast enough.

Tiberion beamed. “Then by the powers vested in me by the state, I am pleased to pronounce you both married! You may kiss your husband.”

I pulled Quinn in for our first kiss as a married couple, my hands framing his face, smiling against his lips, happiness filling me full to bursting. He kissed me back, strong and sweet and perfect, the entire field of Lochmire erupting in celebratory cheer. Quinn lifted a giggling Nicole onto his shoulders, lacing his hand with mine, and the three of us lead the way towards the long tables on the other end of the field, where an authentic medieval feast awaited us courtesy of Walter.

Olivia and Hannah’s band, the Mighty Deeds -- a trio of a lute, drum, and vocal ensemble -- played long into the night. Perez, Nguyen, and Miller joined Roux in making a speech that was so sincere I had tears running down my face by the end of it. When the wedding cake arrived, topped with two armored figures and an impressive red dragon, Quinn and I needed only to exchange one knowing glance before we mashed it into Greg’s face, leaving him to try and clean icing from his glasses with a smile on his face for the rest of the night. Mead, wine, and ale flowed freely. By the time I noticed Nicole was practically napping in her chair next to an actually napping Roux, it was past midnight, my throat sore from laughing and my feet aching from how much I had danced. Once we were finished finding ways to get everyone safely back home, Quinn once again carried Nicole, hugging her to his chest. We exchanged smiles when she hummed, exhausted and overjoyed.

“You know,” Quinn said, as the three of us walked to our limo, “We were counting the quarters in the swear jar.”

“There’s a lot of them,” Nicole replied sleepily.

“Definitely a lot of them,” I agreed. “So many, in fact, it could even cover a ticket to Disneyland.”

I watched as the realization slowly washed over Nicole’s face from her place on Quinn’s shoulder, her eyes growing wide with excited disbelief, a hand clapped over her mouth. I smiled at her.

“How does a Princess Breakfast at Cinderella’s Castle sound?” I asked gently.

Nicole squealed, halfway between a sob and a cry of pure joy, scrambling on a laughing Quinn and reaching out towards me, planting a series of happy, messy kisses on my forehead when I got close.

“I’m so happy, Dad,” she whispered, smiling through her tears. “I’m so, so happy!”

“Me, too, honey,” I said, my voice soft and low, looking from her to Quinn, my daughter and the love of my life both right beside me, still unable to believe that all this had been real, that all of this had happened to someone like me. “Me, too.”
