"What's wrong?" Everly calls as soon as she is out of the car. Her dress is still wet because we had no towels to dry ourselves, so it sticks to her skin. Mickey may be openly gay, but he stares at Everly's curves like he's a man dying of thirst and she's the glass of water that would save his life.

"You mind, Mickey? That's our girl you're drooling over," Karl shouts as he gets out of the jeep.

"Ooh, sea sex! I do so love fucking in the sea. Easy clean up," William says as he walks towards Everly, his arm open wide. Everly giggles when they embrace. Despite growing up an only child, human to boot, Everly has adapted to otherkin faster than any of us could have hoped for. William and his clan are products of our kind's openness when it comes to sexuality. His hands dip too low when she hugs him, earning himself a slap on the head for it.

"What an arse!” he comments “you boys are lucky indeed! I'm jealous," he says with a wink. Everly bless her, just rolls her eyes and makes her way inside.

  Chapter Thirty-Five

  EVERLY

Sitting across the dining room table from Crag as he stares at me has my nerves on edge. I shoot him my best evil eyes and turn to Will.

"Well? Out with it brother." I stretch my arms up and then, realizing my mistake, I snap them back down. Every man in the room adjusts himself through his pants. My dress is wet, I'm braless and commando, the sea stole my undies. The material sticks to my tits and my nipples poke out.

"Oh, shit," Garrot says between clenched teeth, a little more cum leaks out as my pussy clenches. Fuck a duck, folding my arms across my chest just pushes them up, making everyone gasp. Thankfully, Le comes behind me and draps a blanket over me. I smile up at him, grateful for the save.

"We need to get you in bed Ever, you need your rest." I clasp my hand around his, preventing him from moving away.

"Sorry sis, but it's bad news. Poseidon has been spotted." William announces.

Shine a light! Poseidon is on land?

  "Where?" Karl barks.

"North bay. Shortly before you arrived back."

Ah crap! Did he sense us in the sea? Dammit. No! We've got two weeks left. He can't come now. The baby...

"There's more. An army of Elite have set up camp on the cliff. The one where you first met Mother." His voice cracks, and my heart breaks a little. While his flirting and inappropriate behaviour make me want to throat-punch him, he's not like me. He's grown up in a completely different society, while he has a different dad it's still bordering on incest the way he is looking at my boobs.

"Will! Eyes up here buddy, fuck sake ... you're my brother!" His eyes flick to his hands and he mumbles yet more apologies. I roll my eyes and let it slide. After this is all done and Poseidon is dead, he and I are going to have a little chat. Maybe fisticuffs; it depends on how well he listens.

"What do we do? Attack before they get a chance?" I aim my question at Karl, because I trust his judgement in this more than anyone else.

"Yes. Strike while we have the element of surprise. You are ready, Ever, we all are." he replies, determination on is handsome face.

"You could have the earth swallow them, K, I could hold them still and Le could rip their hearts out," Garrot suggests.

"Negative. Too many things that could go wrong. It risks the whole town being sucked in. No, we need to be more finessed than that. William, are your men ready?"

"Yes, gorgeous. I mean ... my King." Will looks pissed at himself for the slip up.

"What?" I squeak. Shocked as fuck. King? Fuck yes. I like it. My four kings.

"As your bonded consorts, they are our kings. All otherkin felt what happened between the five of you tonight. It is official. Well... will be once you take your throne, my Queen." Will explains, a smile on his lips.

Holy smokes. One step at a time, though.

"Okay, so when? When do we kill these motherfuckers?" I ask everyone. So ready to end this.

"ASAP works for me," Garrot says cheerfully. He's been itching for this since we learnt who I really am. They're all so much more powerful now, I can feel their power rolling off them as they stand around the room. Leyland's bleeds through his hand on mine, wrapping itself around me. The comfort it brings allows me to remain calm.

"We need to come up with a plan, get everyone together. Then we strike." God, Karl's sexy when he's in commander mode. I'm going to have to convince him to dominate me once, for educational purposes, of course. Breaking up the meeting, I jump on Garrot’s back and we all climb the stairs.

I wake when he shifts me onto the bed, my cheek wet with drool. Shit. I was so tired that I fell asleep on the way upstairs. I bet there's a mark... when he turns to go to the bathroom, I see a small wet patch on his back. Oops. I look up into Leyland’s face as he stands in front of me.

"Let's get these off you sweetheart, nightie or PJ's?" God, he is so sweet. I get the feeling he will want to coddle me for the next seven months. But I'm pregnant, not broken or sick.

"Nightie please, you're so sweet." My words come out slurred, I'm that tired. I almost feel a little drunk. He peels off my wet dress and puts on a warm nightdress for me. I sit there like jelly wondering how the material is warm.

"Popped it in the dryer for a few minutes, come on, in you go," he says softly. I climb up the bed and pull back one of the four king-sized quilts and as soon as my head hits the pillow, I jerk like I'm falling.

"You ok, babe?" Garrot asks from what seems like miles away. He's naked, lifting my head a bit I notice they all are. Wowee, I am one lucky bitch. The last thing I hear before drifting back to sleep is Victor telling the guys he's off to do a patrol.

I'm confronted with the cliff I have not dreamt about in over a week.

  Victor

Everly lays down on the massive bed, drunk with exhaustion, and I can't help but pine to join her. However, my instincts tell me I need to make a sweep of the area. With so many Selkie around, I need to check and make sure none have come close to the house. While we may be safe inside it, we will need to hold tomorrow's meeting outside.

"I'm going to check the perimeter. Be back in an hour." I tell my family. Heading out, I cast one last look behind me. Garrot, Leyland, and Karl climb into the bed with our woman. A stab of jealousy jolts through my heart. Before my mother touched me this night, I have never felt the things that now live inside of me. Love, fear, jealousy. Freedom. She broke something that was keeping me from truly living.

Looking at the four otherkin on the bed that we now all share, I can't help but want to turn around and join them. But I will not let those feelings stop me from making sure they are all safe. Poseidon’s army is close, and I will not sleep until every single Selkie is crushed within my tentacles. Leaving our home, I make my way around the perimeter set up by Karl some weeks ago.

  Everly

When I wake up my body is a little stiff and I'm freezing cold. Reaching my arm out I expect to feel Leyland, but find the space empty instead. Huh, must be up already. Turning, I reach out on the other side but there is just an empty space too. Ok then, everyone is up and I'm still in bed, alone. I consider calling out, someone will come and give me their body heat. Instead, I get up and pad to the toilet, taking care of my business. Suddenly I am hit with a sudden wave of uneasiness. The house is completely silent. Maybe they're outside? Throwing on one of Leyland’s t-shirts and a pair of leggings, I head downstairs.

"Le? Gar?" I walk into the kitchen. "K?" I look out of the windows to find the field empty. Out front? As I open the front door, a piece of paper flutters in the wind. Pinning it there is one of Leyland’s unmistakable arrows. Dread hits me in the gut, even though a small part of me thinks it's a note from the guys. Maybe it just says that they went out? Maybe they finally took Victor shopping for actual clothes of his own? Gently, I pull the white arrow from the wood, and read the note.

  The cliff.

That's all it says. I drop to my knees as another wave of agony rips through me. My guys! They're in trouble, and I know exactly where thi
s cliff is. I take off running down the drive. Not even bothering with shoes or a coat despite the fact it's raining. I just need to get to them!

MY THIGHS CHAFE AND I'm pumping with sweat. By the time I get to where I need to be, where the note said I should go, I'm so out of breath I almost collapse on the floor when I realise no one is here. It's empty, no sign of my guys or anyone else.

I stand on the cliff's edge, looking down into the abyss. The water is fierce, waves crashing over the rocks at the cliff's base, splashing me with cold salt water, like it's trying to reach me. The rain batters my face and sends chills down my spine. Ferocious winds throw my hair around, and it wraps around my neck. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, filling my lungs, the wind battering rain into my face. I can taste the sea in my mouth and it resonates deep in my soul. My feet pull me further forward right to the edge and my heart sings in my chest, fear rushes through my veins.

"This is where I need to be, they should be here!"

Where are they? Turning, I see three of my guys, oh thank fuck. Where is Victor? They're on their knees, massive Selkie stand behind them, knives to their throats. All three are tied from neck to their knees. Unable to move or use their powers, they're helpless. They're here because of me! I did this to them.

"We love you, Everly, ah!" Leyland shouts, which makes a Selkie Elite push the base of his trident into his neck.

"Do not do this, Everly, he means to kill you. Run! Go now!" Karl screams at me. Unable to move my feet, I stand there and watch as an army of Selkie Elites come from the direction I just came from. There must be thousands. We're outnumbered, we won't win this. I can't win this on my own, fuck!

Splashes of water make me jump and I turn around, coming face to face with the god who raped my mother and plans to kill me for my powers. The top half of him rises above the cliff, at least twenty feet in the air. He is completely blue except for the white beard and hair. In one hand he holds a golden trident, its body thicker than my own. His voice booms, so loud my ears feel like they might burst.

"You will come with me daughter, or my creatures will kill your consorts. The other ..." Turning his body to gesture behind him, "is not long for this world." Behind him, I see my Victor in his kraken form. His green skin is torn and bloody, he's limp in the arms of something I have never seen before, but it frightens the shit out of me. Fuck me.

"Don't!" Karl screams as Leyland sobs, his face buried in the grass as his keening wrecks his body.

"I will have them slaughtered, child, their blood will stain this land," the giant sneers.

"Babe, please do not do this, we can fight!" Sweet Garrot, you can't fight this. The Selkie are too powerful and my guys hands are tied. There are no other options: either I go with Poseidon or my four guys are dead. It's me or them; I choose them.

"Sweetheart no, please!" Leyland pulls himself up, our eyes lock. I watch as tears flow down his cheeks. I know they all love me, and the baby. They gave me something to live for, someone to come back to, and I have no intentions of dying this day. Their love fills me, makes what is to come much easier. I take a step forward, over the cliff's edge, and down I fall into the abyss.

"Nooooo!!!" Leyland’s heartbreaking scream is the last thing I hear.

  Chapter One

  Yesterday

  LEYLAND

Sitting up in bed, my mouth is dry. I have a sickly feeling in my stomach. Ah, fuck. Am I sick? Surely not. I'm one hundred years old, I've never been sick in all that time. Shrugging the feeling off, I get up and walk towards the bathroom. Everly, Garrot and Karl are fast asleep. Our girl is curled in Karl's arms, his face so peaceful and happy, hers is the picture of contentment. All's right with the world. In the bathroom, I lean my hands on the sink and stare into the mirror.

A daddy. I'm going to be a dad! And Everly is my fiancé! I'll be Everly's husband. And she my wife. I watch a huge smile spread across my face. I've never been more excited about anything in my life. The two titles I coveted most in my long years. Daddy, husband. For over seventy-five years my virgin Oath and my Cupid seal kept me from even dating, let alone creating a life. Within months, I'm engaged to the most amazing woman I’ve ever met, and she’s carrying my babe. Tears spring to my eyes, happy ones. Excitement churns and twirls in my stomach.

The smile doesn't leave my face as I wash, brush my teeth, which is difficult to do when I can't stop smiling, and take care of my morning business. My eyes close as I brush my hair, the memory of last night fills my mind.

Down on one knee, naked, having sated Everly I placed the ring I had resized two weeks ago, on her finger. The words that came out of me were not practised or thought about. But they came from my heart.

When she said, "Yes! I will marry you!" My heart almost burst in my chest. She said yes! I was incredibly relieved when the ring slipped on her finger, the perfect fit. A simple silver band, with a princess cut diamond. It was my mother's ring, given to her by the man she claimed was my father. When I was given to Alan as a baby, this ring was the only thing with me. I kept it safe, intending, but never daring to hope, to one day give it to my future wife. It felt right, almost destined, I give it to Everly in a show of utter and complete love.

As I pad back into the bedroom the feeling of missing something or someone hits me. Huh, I look at the bed and count bumps. Oh, three. Where’s victor? I remember he went on a perimeter run last night, but he should be back by now. Maybe he's downstairs?

I rest my knee on the bed and pull the covers over Everly's shoulder. It's a little cold in here. One last time I look at our girl, love swells in my chest, threatening to overflow. I head down and into the kitchen ready to start the day. Complete silence greets me, even the birds, so vocal usually, are quiet.

"Victor?" Going from room to room, I check each one to find him. I end up back in the kitchen. Alone. Perhaps he went back out? With Poseidon's Elite army too close for comfort, it’s smart to keep vigilant.

Going to the fridge, I freeze midstep. There on the floor is a photo of Everly. One I've never seen before. Black and white, Everly sits on a stone wall in what appears to be Manchester. A book in her hand and a takeaway coffee cup in the other. She looks so sad it pulls my heart. In the background the blurry but unmistakable sign for a famous shopping centre.

Who could have taken this? None of us, that's for sure. We didn't know her then. As far as I’m aware, she hasn't visited since. Confusion pulls my brows together. My inner musings are forgotten when someone knocks at the back door. Victor? Has he lost his key? I unlock the door and pull it open, but no one's there. Just the open field behind the house, the sun blazing down on it. Ripples of heat obscure the trees. It's going to be a hot day; I wonder if I should get a swimming pool? Ah no, the glade is perfect and not too far. Hmm. Our kitten, Jules, purrs around my ankles. Bending down, I pick her up gently and close the door behind me.

"Hello little kitty," she rubs her head against my chin. Meowing in her tiny voice. "Aren't you the cutest little thing? Want breakfast, little one?" I snuggle her against my chest and gently bounce on the balls of my feet, attempting to soothe her meowing. One-handed, I prepare her breakfast. First, I wash out her bowl, making sure nothing remains of supper. I add new meat and gently place her and the bowl on the floor. "There you go, sweety. Eat up while it's fresh."

She doesn't immediately jump on the food like she usually does, instead, she wanders over to the French doors and begins meowing in earnest. "What's up, girl? You can't go out there. You're too little." I jump on the spot as a loud bang knocks at the window beside me and Jules arches her back, hissing. "What is it little one? Can you sense what I can't see?" I ask as I look through the glass and see nothing. Her cries becom
e worrisome. Opening the back door and stepping through, I close it firmly behind me to make sure Jules can't get out. Taking a few steps out onto the porch I look around and see nothing. Huh. Strange.

Just as I turn, however, something stabs into my neck. I wobble on my legs, my wings won't come out, despite pushing my will into my back. The world before me tilts, and I crash to the floor.

  Victor

An hour into my patrol, my eyes start to feel heavy. Deciding to sit, I plop down onto the forest floor near the glade. Considering its early morning, it's very quiet. No birds chirping, not even the bugs seem to have woken yet. I lay down, with my back against the grass, and let my mind wander.

I'm starting to see the world in a completely different way. It’s almost like I had a veil over my eyes, now it's been lifted, I can see the beauty all around me. I feel more powerful than I ever have in my long life. It courses through my veins and heats my skin. Focusing on my arm I let a tentacle take over my human one. The skin there soft yet scaly. It grows at least eight feet in length, suckers the size of my face adorn the underside. It's quite beautiful. I'm in awe whenever I let my inner Kraken forth. Pulling back my will, I flex my human fingers as they reappear. It gets less painful each time I transform.

I rest my head on my arms and look at the beautifully clear sky. Allowing my mind to wander further, I'm taken back to the night I gained my true self

My mother appeared, breaking some kind of dam inside me. Emotions I didn't know I had nearly crushed me. But with Everly’s love surrounding me, I stood tall.

"Time to choose Vic," I turned to face Everly. My heart’s so full of love it pounds in my chest. Taking a step forward, my hand firmly grips hers. I reach out my other and take hold of the form that has called to me my whole life.

I'm sucked into a vortex, black liquid swirls around me and my body is thrown from the churning mass and I hit solid ground.
