“Oh, well I just wanted to make sure she was okay. I think my son has made friends with her. She was teaching him a song earlier. He was singing You Are My Sunshine.”
The woman steps closer after she sees that Donovan belongs to Rafe, recognizing the little boy. “Oh, I’ve seen you guys here before. We love the river, so we’re always down here. But yes, we sing that song often. He must’ve picked it up from her.”
Char pushes herself over to join them with a smile. “It’s a great song! Hi there! I’m Char, and this is my husband, Rafe. I didn’t catch your name?”
The woman returns her smile. “Oh, I’m sorry! I’m Martha, and this is my little Lucy.”
Rafe quickly wipes away the tears that fill his eyes before the woman next to him notices as she sets her daughter back down. “It’s a beautiful name,” he chokes out, doing his best to hold himself together. “If I remember correctly Lucy means… light, right?”
The parents continue chatting to get to know one another while the young boy and girl join hands and run along the river together, laughing with ease as if they’ve done it a thousand times before.

About the Author
Amy Marie is a first-time author of the Statera Saga. A sucker for a good old-fashioned good versus evil story, she’s been inspired to take on authoring a trilogy of her own. She has lived all over the United States, but will always consider Ohio her home. She’s worked several years for a major book retailer, and now enjoys a career in aviation as an air traffic controller. She delights in her friends and family, and the cuddles of her dog Brutus.

Acknowledgments
Thank YOU so much for reading the Statera Saga! Writing this series has been an amazing adventure that I’m sad to see come to an end. I take comfort in knowing that I’ve given Nora and Darcy the best ending of all — a new beginning!
If you loved this story and if you have the time, please leave a review for my books on sites like Amazon, Goodreads, and BookBub. It’s the best gift you can give an author. And if you’d like to keep in touch, please find me online. I’d love to hear from you! Hope to see you again soon!
I’d like to thank my mom and dad for both supporting me as I found my voice as an author. Thanks to all my family, step-parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have supported my writing… especially my Aunt Peggy. I’d also like to thank all my friends who have taken an interest in this story, your support means more than words can say.
I’d like to thank David Roca for all the help he’s given and interviewing me back home in Fremont, Ohio!
Thanks to my editor Eanna Roberts for helping make sense of my jumbled words.
Thank you again to all my writing companions stranded from Authonomy and Write On. You “strangers” were the first to read my work and encourage me to share it with the world. Who knew it was going to lead to this series? Thanks to you there will be more to come!
Thanks to St. Elmo for the everlasting encouragement and laughs.
Thank you to Martha for repeatedly reminding me there’s nothing new under the sun!
This book would not be possible without the encouraging cuddles of my dog Brutus! And also, thanks to Linus, for being… Linus!
As always, the most important thank you goes where it’s due:
Corinthians 13:13 “And now, these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Thank you for your sacrifice,
Amy Marie
