“He’s just a man, Ty. Yeah, he likes sex. And thank god, because I love having sex with him. But I also love talking to him, taking care of him, and living with him. I adore watching him dance. I did wonder in the beginning if he might be from another world,” he joked. “His ears are a little pointy.”

“They are, aren’t they?!” Tyler said, his laughter a tad crazy.

“But he’s just a man,” Christoffer repeated. “Adam and I, we were lucky, I guess.”

“I feel like I saw him through your eyes yesterday,” Tyler said, serious again. There was fear in his voice.

“Ah.” No, Tyler should absolutely not fall in love with Adam. That was a dangerous game to play. Yet Christoffer couldn’t see it happening. Tyler had been stuck in the instant-gratification phase for years now. Fleeting infatuations, fuck buddies, adventurous couples—Tyler enjoyed variety. As soon as a relationship threatened to evolve into something requiring extra thought or work, he was off. His fascination with Adam was just that: a fascination, a temporary flame enhanced by the love he witnessed. Maybe Tyler was growing up, if he could see the love and appreciate it. Christoffer smiled at the thought.

“Don’t worry, I will sort it out in my head,” Tyler said.

  “You do that.”

Tyler nodded and drank the rest of his coffee in silence. Perhaps Christoffer had spoken too sternly.

Adam joined them a minute later in a white T-shirt and worn jeans. He was freshly shaven, his skin a little pink and hair in messy damp curls.

Tyler watched, dreamy and appreciative, as Adam settled on Christoffer’s lap before he hugged his coffee cup with both hands.

“Morning, Ty,” he said, smiling. His big eyes glistened, way too innocent.

“Well, good morning to you, too, Adam.” Tyler chuckled and shook his head.

“What?” Adam asked, confused by their friend’s sudden amusement.

Tyler waved his hand in front of his face. “I’m only laughing at myself.” Yes, he was definitely overwhelmed. Well, he got what he asked for, Christoffer thought.

“Okay, I’m going.” Tyler stood abruptly, the patio chair screeching under him. “I had a lovely time, thank you. Don’t get up. I’ll see myself out.” He walked swiftly back into the house, not even looking at them.

Adam stared after him for a few seconds before he turned back to Christoffer. “That was weird.”

“Mmm-hmm,” Christoffer agreed, his lips in the hollow underneath Adam’s ear.

  “Is he okay?”

“Yeah. You blew his tiny mind last night. He’s going to need some time to recover.”

“Huh. Why should he need time to recover? It was me who got pounded like it was the end of the world.”

  “Complaining?”

“Nuh-uh. Definitely not. I’m deliciously sore.”

“Incubus,” Christoffer whispered. His chest warmed when he saw Adam grin and stick out his tongue.

“Yes, I am. And all yours,” his boy said. He looked so happy, he glowed. “Anyway, sauna and a swim are in order.”

“I’ll turn the heater on. Breakfast first?” Christoffer suggested.

  “Please! Eggs.”

“You got it. But finish your coffee first. I want to hold you a minute longer.”

Adam kissed Christoffer’s cheek, rubbing his nose against the scruff. Christoffer inhaled deeply, filling his lungs with the scent of his love and the summer morning. He marveled at the sudden simplicity in his life. Peace and quiet; Adam in his lap, smiling softly. The mild fatigue in his limbs just added weight to his contentment. It would be a lazy Sunday.
