Bonded Souls
Page 33
Emerald eyes darkened to nearly black. Fangs began extending and a growl that impressed Elissa escaped Cassandra’s mouth.
Cassandra blinked as she took in where she was. In the arms of her wife. But something was terribly wrong. Her stomach hurt. Something else was different. She didn’t really feel cold anymore. “What happened?”
“Arrow to your stomach. I took care of them. You died. I brought you back.” Elissa was kissing every exposed place on her soulmate’s body. “You did it. You fought and you came back. It’s never been done that a dead mortal was turned.”
The newly formed immortal still felt weak. “I don’t feel so good.” Cassandra placed a hand to her stomach. When she revealed it, her palm was completely covered in sticky red substance.
“We need to feed. I had to use more blood than normal to sire you because of the wound.” Elissa easily picked up her wife.
As they moved past the horses, they began attempting to bolt. “Relax. We’re not going to use you four beauties. We’ll be back.”
Just like that, Elissa was running as fast as she could. “This won’t be like when we feed next time. We’ll hunt side by side. We can’t share as we both need the same amount to remain existing.”
Cassandra was too weak to respond. She knew she wasn’t out of the woods just yet. She was fighting to keep her eyes open.
Reverently, Elissa placed Cassandra on the ground propped up against a tree. “I’ll be back. Soon. Just hang on.” Through their connection, she knew her soulmate wouldn’t last much longer without a major infusion of blood.
Elissa didn’t waste any time. She tracked the moose. It was the biggest one she could find. Forsaking her own need to feed, the vampire hefted the animal across her back.
Stumbling every so often with the weight, Elissa managed to make it back to where she had left Cassandra resting. Her soulmate’s eyes were closed.
“Cassandra.” Elissa gently shook her soulmate’s shoulder. Relief flooded through her when emerald eyes opened. “I only stunned the moose. You need to feed every last ounce of blood. I have to go back for myself, but after I know you are all right.”
Cassandra nodded. Elissa helped her wife to where the slowly moving moose was. Instinct took over for the freshly sired vampire. Her fangs grew long and she sank them deeply into a vein.
It was as if Cassandra had never eaten before. She couldn’t get enough blood. Elissa watched her soulmate’s stomach as she continued to feed. Before azure eyes, the wound began to heal. Soon, there wasn’t a trace there had ever been an arrow protruding from Cassandra’s stomach.
After every drop had been siphoned, Cassandra finally felt whole. She looked into azure eyes and smiled seductively. “That was quite the powerful sensation. Only thing more powerful is when we make love.”
Elissa couldn’t help laughing as she pulled her wife into a hug. The blood remaining on Cassandra’s lips was enticing. “I know. And I have to experience it soon myself. But I just want to hold you for a few moments. I thought I’d lost you. Again.”
“I’ve done that a few too many times.” Cassandra reached up and stroked her wife’s cheek. She couldn’t help licking her lips. “I can see why some vampires have trouble. The lifeforce in blood is…”
“Beyond words.” Cassandra nodded. “You wait here and keep still. We’ll, over the next few weeks, learn together what exactly it means to be a vampire as vampires.”
“Go. Enjoy for me.” Elissa swallowed at the words. “And come back soon. I need you.” Azure eyes blinked and darkened at the words.
It was nearly before Cassandra could blink before her soulmate had returned. Not caring that they were in the open in the snow, Elissa removed her own clothing and her wife’s.
Their bodies rubbed against one another for several moments as tongues dueled. Everything felt like the first time. Cassandra, though her heart didn’t beat, felt more alive than she had ever in her existence.
There was very little foreplay. Elissa pinned Cassandra against the tree. Their hands lowered. Penetration was immediate and simultaneously.
“Oh dear gods!” Cassandra felt like she was on fire. Was it only a few moments ago she was dead? Now she was more alive than she had ever been.
“I agree.” Elissa had had sex with a handful of partners. But only Andrea and Cassandra made her feel this way. Alive. Like she could do no wrong.
Continuing to pump in and out as they smashed their breasts together, fangs grew. They nipped at each other’s necks releasing small trickles of blood which they then lapped up.
They both screamed at the same time. Not quite satisfied, Elissa straddled her wife’s thigh. She made certain Cassandra was straddling hers.
Once again they were rubbing against one another’s bodies as well as pressing deeply with their thighs. “This is us. For eternity. Life among mortals but also recluses. I want to find a place where we will be left alone. Forever.”
Cassandra grunted her response. Just the two of them She loved Emily, Brian, Lily and Yohan, but it just being the two of them was the most enticing thing she had ever heard.
It would have to be somewhere wildlife was plentiful so they could feed. But it also had to be isolated. They’d find it. It might not be easy, but they would travel the world over to find exactly what they wanted.

Over the decades, Cassandra and Elissa traveled all across the world. But the place they seemed drawn to the most was Manistee, Michigan.
The city was close to a national forest. The population always hovered around six thousand people. It allowed them to remain anonymous.
They had built a log cabin. It blended in with the natural beauty. And it made it difficult to see unless you were within a quarter mile of it.
The vampires had attempted to keep track of Lily and Emily’s offspring but they had moved around quite a bit. The ranch had been turned into a dude ranch once the automobile had become so popular. It had been sold several times over.
So many changes over the decades. Cassandra still marveled at the technology. They distanced themselves from it and yet in some cases embraced it.
The only thing that remained constant was how much they loved one another. The only thing that was important was how they would live eternity side by side.
