“Don’t forget your tiara, Lena,” Ella says as Yelena runs out of the room. “We should head down; the boys are probably waiting for us.”
I nod. “What time is our reservation?”
“Five. It’s nearly one-thirty, so we should get going.”
I follow Ella out of the room while Yelena comes skipping out of her room with a little silver tiara on her head and grabs my hand. We turn the corner and carefully walk down the stairs. A gasp draws my attention. I look down to find the brothers lined up at the base of the stairs in tuxedos. Emiliano and Gino stand side by side, their eyes fastened on Ella and me.
I smile at the look of awe on our men’s faces and see Ella winking at me from the corner of my eye. As we walk down the stairs, I notice Gino’s silver tie and violet rose peeking from his pocket, while Emiliano’s outfit matches Ella’s. I look at Ella with an amused smile, and she grins at me. As we stop at the base of the stairs, Gino and Emiliano step forward and take our hands. Adelmo, wearing a blue rose and silver tie to match Yelena, also steps forward and holds his hand out to his little niece, who starts to giggle.
“Thanks, uncle Addy,” she says.
Kalino leads us outside and gestures for Gino, Emiliano, Ella, and me to get into the first limo. He ushers Vittorio, Adelmo, and Yelena into the next limo, while he and Faustino take the last.
“I thought limos could fit like ten people each?” I say to Ella.
She giggles at me but doesn’t respond. We open a bottle of champagne, toasting Gino and chatting. After a couple of hours, we pull up in front of Ruth’s Chris. Once everyone is out of their vehicles, they drive off, and we turn as a group and enter the fancy steakhouse. Kalino speaks quietly with the maître d’, and a suited man leads us back to a private room the size of our own dining table.
The servers bring out the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten. I have steak with asparagus and rice pilaf, and I swap some of my food with some of the others just to try a bit of everything. Once we finish eating, everyone watches as Gino opens his presents, graciously accepting box after box.
Once he finishes unwrapping his gifts, slices of cheesecake are placed before us. I smile at Gino as he slides his piece in front of me. At the same time, the waiter places a glass of pink, bubbly liquid before me. I look at Gino, who gestures for me to drink it. So I drain the glass until I feel something solid clinking against my lips. I frown and look down at a shiny, round piece of metal. I fish the piece of metal out and can’t help but gasp when I hold the silvery ring up to the light. Shimmering gems reflect the light, a violet gem mounted in the center of the ring. I look at Gino, finding him and Yelena kneeling on the ground beside me. Tears fill my eyes as he begins to speak.
“Rosana,” he says, taking my hand and kissing it. “I know that you were raised with human traditions, and one of the most amazing human traditions is marriage. You are my mate. My other half. The very soul of me. I want the world to know that in every sense of the word, you are mine. Would you do the honors,” he pauses and takes the ring from my fingers, sliding it on my left ring finger, “of marrying me?” He looks up into my eyes as tears streak down my face. “Rosana, would you please be my wife?”
Yelena is giggling furiously at me. “Be my mommy!” she says excitedly, pushing Gino closer.
I nod, laughing. “Yes … absolutely, a million times, yes.”
Gino grins and sweeps me into a passionate kiss while everyone claps and Yelena hugs us both.
Kalino grins, paying the bill as we all leave the restaurant. Ella ushers Gino and me into one limo, the rest of them piling into the other ones. I smile, contently cuddling into Gino’s side.
“I’m getting married,” I say, hardly believing it myself.
Gino smiles and kisses me firmly. “Yes. Now everyone on this planet knows that you’re my mate, too!”
“Thank you, Gino,” I say quietly. “This was perfectly amazing.”
“Wait until you see what I’ve got planned for tonight,” he says, giving me a scorching kiss.
