Dexter stood next to his son and smiled, who knew that community barbecue would change his life for the better. As he watched the mother of his son and his soon-to-be wife, satisfaction swelled within him. It might have taken seventeen years to get to where he was, but as Brittney said, he'd do it all over again if this was the outcome. Because there was nothing like family friends and loved ones.
Brittney stepped back into his arms and pressed her lips to his. “I’m finally home.”
“Damn straight you are.” Dexter kissed her again. “Welcome home, princess.”
