  He stopped and put his hands on her shoulders, turning her toward him.

  “I want to be as close to you as possible.” He smiled. “I know we haven’t known each other long, but it’s been long enough for me. I hope after I’m around for a while, you’ll start wondering what you ever did without me.”

  “Well”—she smoothed the lapel of his suit jacket—“you are kind of easy on the eyes and a good conversationalist. Almost makes up for the snoring.”

  “I bet I can do a few other things to make you forget about the snoring,” he said, his voice turning husky.

  “Yeah? And what would those things be?”

  “I’d rather show you than tell you.”

  Showing instead of telling is all right by me, Jen thought, linking her arm with his as they walked on to the car where her son was waiting for the two of them.
