I dipped my toe, and moaned. “This is going to feel fantastic.”

Splashing behind me told me he was washing my shirt in one of the smaller pools.

Sitting down on the mossy area surrounding the closest pool, I dropped my legs into the water. Like I’d stepped into a hot tub version of the three little bears, the water wasn’t too hot or too cold. Just perfect.

Someone had placed larger rocks in a circle around the outer walls, and I lowered myself down and sat on one. The water lapped my shoulders, and steamy sulfur goodness sank into my bones.

With a ripple across the surface, Kemir joined me in the pool. He nudged his chin toward where he’d draped his shirt on a bush. “It’s warm here, so it should dry quickly.”

My body feeling one-hundred-percent better, I drifted over to him and climbed onto his lap, spreading my legs around his waist. “Not too quickly, I hope.”

“You have something in mind to use up the waiting time?” he asked.

“I think I’m becoming insatiable,” I said frankly. “Is this going to be a problem?”

“Nope, because I feel the same.”

  Chapter Ten

  Kemir

I stroked her back and her delectable ass. Pulled her close so I could taste her lips. Nuzzle her throat. After biting down on the tender skin at her nape, I captured her mouth and slipped my tongue into her welcoming heat, claiming her fire.

Not long ago, I thought I’d lost my future with this woman. That I’d die without seeing her again.

Now, I wanted to show her how much I ached to be with her always.

“I love you,” I said, hoping I wasn’t speaking too soon. I knew she’d hesitated about committing herself to me.

Her eyes darted down shyly, before returning to meet mine. “I love you, too.”

  I groaned and kissed her.

Reaching between us, I stroked my fingers down her belly and then along her slit. I pinched the bud at the top. Rubbed hard.

  She gasped. “Kemir.”

  “Yes, sweet?”

“Are we going to do it in the water?”

“Let’s start here and then progress to other locations.” Like, against the wall, under the small falls, and deep in the grove of highly-scented flowers.

She ground herself onto my cock. “I like that idea.”

Cupping her breast, I rubbed her nipple, groaning when it peaked at my touch.

I wanted to drive myself into her mindlessly, plunging over and over until I shot through the roof, but I wanted her with me when it happened.

She spread her legs further apart, giving me easier access, and I slid two fingers inside her while caressing her clit. Her head tipped back, and she moaned, begging for more.

My cock surged upward, a stiff rod, eager to find a way into her velvety warmth.

Her arms were tight around my shoulders and she rocked against my fingers, her eyes closed, tiny pants escaping her lips.

“I’ve gotta have more,” she whispered.

  “Take whatever you need.”

Rising up, she centered herself over me. “I need this. You. All of it,” she said, her face creasing as she pushed down. “God, you’re huge.”

My chuckle came out deep and husky, because fuck, I was holding myself back by a bare thread. It was all I could do not to shove myself up, all the way to the hilt. But I didn’t want to hurt her. “Being huge is a good thing, right?”

“Almost too good. It’s…” She shoved down, but my body only crested her lips. I released my salva, the vibrating tip, from the end of my cock. “Oh, yes, that.” Her eyes widened. “I’m never going to get enough of that. I’ve gotta get it inside. Now!”

“Take it slowly.” If she dropped down fully, I’d come right away. I wanted to savor her. Enjoy this moment.

“I want it fast. And deep.”

So did I. I was going to go insane if I didn’t bury myself inside her.

“Try leaning over the side of the pool,” I said. “The water makes this harder.”

“I do like it harder.” Her gaze met mine, and she half smiled. “But I know water washes…moisture away. You want me tummy down?”

  “Or up. Your choice.”

“Both.” Lifting off me, she settled on the moss surrounding the pool, presenting me with her gorgeous ass. “Will you bite me again? And do that little blowing thing you did the first time?”

When I’d marked her as mine.

  “I will.”

Dropping to my knees, I was presented with a view of her swollen slit, the lips slightly parted. Dewy and wet, just for me.

She spread her legs wider and inched backward, toward my face. “Please.”

No need to beg. I’d give her all of me every second of the day, from now on.

Dropping down close, I inhaled her sweet musk, then breathed dragon fire on her.

She shrieked. “Yes. That’s what I meant. It feels fantastic.”

I licked her. Pushing her thighs apart, I sucked on her clit. Teethed it, while she wiggled and sighed and shoved herself against my mouth.

Her warmth enveloped my fingers as I slid them in and out, going faster, spreading her juices. Preparing her body for my cock.

I could feel her tensing, rising higher, cresting the peak.

“Wait,” she called out, her voice husky. When I pulled out my fingers, she rolled over and sat up partway, smiling. Her gaze centered on my aching shaft. “I think I need to do some tasting, too.”

Fuck. She wanted to take me into her mouth? I’d never…Well, I’d never done any of this.

  But a man had fantasies.

“Your turn to lay down beside the pool,” she said with mischief blazing in her eyes.

I settled on the moss, while she dropped back into the water, shivering as her body met the warmth.

“Let me play with you,” she said.

Damn. Dropping fully onto my back, I watched her face, groaning when she licked her lips while staring down.

“So, tell me about this,” she said as she gripped my cock snugly, her brow narrowed, her attention trained between my legs.

  “It’s a cock.”

“Duh.” She flashed me a grin. “I meant that extra thing that vibrates. I don’t see it right now, but I’ve sure felt it. It’s awesome.”

  “My salva.”

Her tongue peeked out to lick her lips, and she leaned closer, breathing on the tip.

  I shivered.

“Where is it?” She licked along the underside of my cock, and when she sucked the end into her mouth, I almost came, shooting myself all the way down her throat.

I was not going to survive her sensual examination.

  “It’s imbedded…in the tip.”

  “How does it come out?”

“I release it.” Designed to pleasure my mate, I had full control of my salva—its speed and when it emerged. It functioned independent of the shaft.

“Show me.” Greed came through in her voice.

Closing my eyes, I allowed the end of my cock to open and my salva shot through. Like me, it was eager to feel Tanya’s warmth, her body closing around it.

“Well, well, well,” she said. “This looks yummy. It’s an extra bulb on the end. And you make it…move?” The last word came out breathy. Was she as turned on by this examination as I was?

“Yes,” I groaned out, because her fingers were stroking my length, massaging the extra-tender tissue beneath the head.

  “Show me that, too.”

Concentrating, I was able to make it move.

Her eyes widened. “Whoa.” Grinning, she tightened her fingers around my salva. She stroked, and I gasped and writhed on the ground, totally undone. Her teasing was going to drive me over the edge in seconds.

“It’s as sensitive as the rest of you.”

And she thought I was the cocky one?

Like she couldn’t tell, the little minx. This woman was going to be the death of me, but I’d die a happy man.

  She la
ughed. “Having fun yet?”

I started to rise, because I was going to totally give it to her. I’d press her down onto the ground, thrust her legs apart, and drive myself inside. I’d pull all the way out, and plunge back for more. Keep at it until she screamed.

But her palm on my thigh stilled me.

“Hold on, please? I want to play a little more.” Her eyes had darkened, the pupils nearly eclipsing the rich brown.

I groaned. You can do it. Maybe.

“I’ve got to taste it.” She leaned forward and slid her tongue around the perimeter of my salva.

Fuck, fuck, fuck. My hips thrust upward as I sought more, and my eyeballs rolled back in my head.

“Slightly salty, but sweet,” she said, satisfaction filling her voice. “Can you turn it on for me again?”

Utterly distracted by the overwhelming feeling of her licking me, my brain function had shuddered to a halt. I needed to focus on her. Because my mate’s pleasure was the most important part of this, not mine.

Counting helped, somewhat. As did thinking about business negotiations.

Until her tongue dipped out again to swirl around the bulb.

My mind blurred. Numbers and deals flew out the window. Her teasing was driving me to the brink, but, somehow, I focused on the vibration.

“Cool.” Lifting her face, she gazed up at me. “I love how responsive you are.” Her cupid bow lips widened, and she took my salva fully into her mouth. Heat and moisture and her tongue worked magic.

I hissed, thrusting up into her warmth.

She widened her lips and took more of me inside, humming while laving and sucking.

Fuck. I couldn’t stand this any longer. I had to claim her. Make her mine.

Pulling her up and off my dick, I lifted her while lying back on the moss. Her mouth pouted, like I’d deprived her of a treat, but her legs parted as I centered her over me and pushed her hips down as I shoved myself up, encasing myself in her velvet.

  We both groaned.

  “Ride me,” I shouted.

“Like this?” She lifted up and plunged back down.

  “Yes!”

She arched her spine and ground against me, taking all of me deep inside.

  I increased the vibration.

“I can’t…” she whispered, her face contorting.

“Do it. Take it. Take me.”

With a shudder and a gasp, she crested and plunged down over the side, taking me along with her.

  Chapter Eleven

  Tanya

The next day, we reached the valley Kemir’s people had found eons ago, after leaving the surface of the Earth.

From a wooden box tucked just inside the final cave, Kemir pulled out clothing for himself, pants for me, and we dressed.

Standing at the top of the path leading down toward his city with my mouth ajar, I squeezed his hand to the point of pinch.

This wasn’t a rustic cliffside comprised of dark holes a bunch of dragons had swept out and turned into residences.

Lairs, ha. Silly me for assuming he lived in a damp, bug-infested cave built into the surrounding landscape.

  No cavewoman role for me.

“Surprised?” he asked with a smile. He cupped my cheeks and kissed me. “Welcome home, love.”

Home. I’d never known my dad, but I hadn’t had a place I could call my own since my mom died. My foster parents had tried to make me feel welcome, but kids came and went all the time, and their free time was tight. I’d pretty much raised myself.

The only real home I’d known for years was in my heart, due to my friends, PJ and Jenny. Who I hoped would be here already. I couldn’t wait to see them and tell them about my adventure and how much I loved Kemir.

“Stunned is more like it,” I whispered.

Holy freakin’ God. It was like an Oprah episode. Here’s a palace for you! And one for you! And one for you!

I was going to need to reboot my expectations for my life with Kemir, because I’d suddenly fallen into a huge upgrade.

I gaped at the enormous, lush valley filled with trees and flowers and even a big lake. Overhead, a variety of colorful birds circled, and chittering and snaps told me small animals moved in the forest nearby.

  And dragons.

Their scales winked in the light as they dove and darted here and there, as if the roads in this isolated part of the world existed only in the sky.

I’d never get used to seeing them.

Rivers wound through the valley, leading to the lake. They glinted deep blue from the yellow-blue glow of the endless lunar bugs that must coat the cavern ceiling that had to be five miles above my head.

No wonder the dragon people had settled here. This place was paradise.

But gigantic palaces peeked from among the vegetation. Made of golden stone, they gleamed like fine jewels, each hosting towers topped with fluttering flags, sparkling windows, and bright, flat, tiled roofs—flat, probably, so they could land on them. “Does everyone have a palatial home?”

He started down the narrow dirt path, tugging me along behind him. “Of course not. Only me and my brothers live in the castles.”

“Castles.” My footsteps faltered, and my hand swept toward the glistening buildings peppering the valley. “These are all castles.”

“Nah, they’re just regular old houses. Ours…” He pointed to the far end of the valley, where even bigger, sparkly, overwhelming buildings stood regally, as if staring down benignly on the city below.

  No freakin’ way.

“My oldest brother, Drekar, is king,” Kemir said, as if he told me his brother was a plumber, not the ruler of this kingdom. “Drek lives in the building on the far left. I own the middle one, and my youngest brother, Jarik, lives in the one on the right.” Grinning, Kemir bowed. “While Drek is king, I’m just a lowly prince, I’m afraid.”

“Prince,” I stuttered out. I was marrying a prince? “Jarik’s a prince, too?” I stalled on the path. A tiny creature—please, don’t let it have big teeth—scurried through the low grass beside us before zipping back into the woods.

Kemir barely spared it a glance. “We’re brothers, so yes.” Frowning, he strode back up the path, stopping in front of me. “You seem concerned.”

“I’m not concerned,” I almost shrieked. I was just dizzy, trying to overcome the need to pass out. I’d thought…He’d said…What had he said?

That he lived in a lair. But he’d also referred to it as a palace.

  I’d made too many assumptions.

“You okay?” he asked, stroking my arm.

After nodding, I lifted my chin. I could do this, become a part of this life. Somehow.

“We’re going to live over there?” I waved to the middle building on the other side of the valley.

“Yes. While our lairs are connected by garden passages, my brothers and I do have separate residences.” His eyes gleamed. “I’ll show you around, help you feel settled, but, because we each live alone, you won’t have to worry about anyone interrupting us if we’re…”

I shook my head, unable to fathom this. Fathom him. “I…”

“Why don’t we go down into the main part of the city. Walk around a bit. It won’t feel so new once you’ve met a few of my friends, strolled past the shops. I can acclimate you to that part of the kingdom, and then, we can go to my home. I imagine you’re eager to meet my brothers, Drek and Jarik, and see your friend, Jenny.”

Reassured, I took his hand again. Maybe easing me into this slowly would make it feel less overwhelming. “And PJ. I bet Jenny sent someone to find PJ.”

“If not, we’ll send someone for her right away.”

  “Let’s do it, then.”

We started down the path again, and were soon engulfed in a forest. Clumps of brush competed with tall evergreens spiking toward the sky and leafy trees that looked like maple, elm, birch.

  “No roads,” I said.

“I assume you mean paved roads.” He waved to the sky. “No need f
or them. We have paths, like the one we’re walking, for times we choose to go on foot, but otherwise, we fly.”

“I won’t ever fly.” A disconcerting notion. I’d never thought being grounded was a bad thing, but here in this kingdom, I’d be stunted compared to everyone else.

“No need to.” He stopped again and faced me. Massaged my neck. “I know you’re scared, but I’ll be with you all the time. You’ll get used to this, feel like this is where you belong.”

Uncertainty dragged on my soul like a lead weight. I wanted to be with Kemir, to love him, raise children with him if we were so blessed. But how would I adjust to this new way of life?

  How would I fit in?

“Will I have a job?” Stupid to worry about something like that.

“You can do whatever you please.”

“But whims are not a job. They don’t contribute.”

“I’m wealthy. You don’t need to earn an income.”

I ground my teeth and followed him out into an open meadow. “I want to do something worthy. I can’t sit around all the time eating chocolates.”

“What about singing? Music is rare in my world. We love it, but so few are capable of creating it.”

“Hmm.” I took his hand again and we walked farther, leaving the hillside and walking along level ground, through an open field of grass with tall purple flowers. Ahead, smaller buildings waited, with a grassy road winding between them. People strolled along, stopping to look through glass windows, as if studying the goods on display inside.

  People. Stores. This was normal.

A new normal, but no different than the life I’d lived before.

Except, these people could shift into dragons. Both the men and the smaller population of women, according to Kemir.

“All I can suggest is that you give this time. Give me time to show you how wonderful it can be here for you. For us.”

I swallowed hard, pushing down my uncertainty. Because I did want to be with Kemir.

I wanted this. Whatever this was.

“And think about singing. Your voice is incredible. You’ll wow everyone who hears you.”

What would it be like to perform for others on a regular basis? In my studies, I’d memorized the central roles of numerous operas, Broadway musicals, and more than the current top one-hundred country music hits.
