“There’s something else I told you. It wasn’t a lie either: I told you I loved you. Ben… I’ll never stop loving you. You changed my life. You inspired me to start my most amazing project yet. You are a priceless work of art. And if you’ll let me… I’d like to make you my husband.”
A hush falls over the crowd. I step in front of the podium, drop to my knees and pull out the diamond ring that’s been sitting in my pocket since two days after that fateful storm ended. “Ben Carpenter, will you marry me?”
Ben looks up at me, his eyes somehow even more beautiful than ever before. He takes my hand in his and nods that sweet smile, uttering that one magical word that will make my dreams come true: “Yes.”
I jump for joy and wrap Ben up in my arms, pulling him in for a tender, passionate kiss. The room explodes in a round of applause, but I don’t even notice.
