Champ purred into their kiss, arms wrapping around him. God, he fit so well, like there was a perfect spot for him right here in Champ’s arms, and he thought he could just stay, right here.

When the kiss ended, Champ pressed their foreheads together. “I love coming home and finding you here. It makes me very happy.”

“Did you enjoy your friends? Is everyone all right?”

“Everyone is great. I didn’t see Marc—he was sleeping. Apparently, he needs a lot of care and attention, but Berny and France are just the ones to give it to him. I’m sure he’s going to thrive. Eventually.”

“I hope so. I want him to be happy.”

“Same for Berny and France. I think they’ll all be good for each other. Kind of like you and I are.”

“We are having a good time, aren’t we?” The kettle went off, whistling away. “Let me make our tea?”

“If I must let you go.” Champ gave him a quick kiss, then stepped back. “I think we’re having more than just a good time.”

  “Yes. What type of tea?”

“Well, I just had hibiscus with the guys. How about Typhoo? It’s in the bin marked tea. If you look in the cupboard above that, there’s all the various other teas.”

“Sounds good. You want milk or lemon?” He felt wonderfully domestic.

“I like milk in my Typhoo. I often take lemon in herbal tea.”

“Yes, Sir. I’ll remember.” He liked a bit of honey and that was it.

“Thank you, boy.” Champ was practically purring.

“I love that deep sound you make.”

“Yeah? I do it when I’m happy, pleased. Like when you call me daddy and show how much you care and how you care for me.”

“It’s lovely.” He made the tea, buttered his toast, and spread jam, then cut the squares up, in case Champ changed his mind.

  “You’re lovely, baby.”

“Flattery will get you laid.” He handed Champ his tea. “Where would you like it sit?”

“I’m going to remember that and I’m going to flatter you a lot. Thank you for the tea. Let’s sit in the living room. I like the comfy seating. That toast looks good.”

  “There’s enough to share.” Score!

Champ beamed at him. “Wonderful. Thank you.” Champ grabbed one of the quarters and nibbled on it.

He did the same, snuggling in close. He felt so relaxed, so brave.

“This is fantastic. I’m so glad you decided to stay with me. I enjoy the fact that we can relax together. You going home is not hanging over us.”

  “No…but me coming home is.”

“That’s a good thing though. A very good thing.”

“It is.” He finished a bit of toast. “I’ll have to figure the bus route to class, move from the apartment, start setting up my studio…”

  So much to do.

“You won’t have to do any of it alone—I’ll help you. And I can drive you to your classes or get you an Uber.”

“Oh, so many options.” He leaned against Champ’s shoulder, loving life. “It’s like a fairy tale.”

Champ purred again. “I love that. We’re a fairy tale. Which may be even more true than you realize.”

“Are you going to tell me you’re a prince?”

“Not quite a prince, but you’re on the right track.”

“Well, I can see you’re not a bridge troll. You are my knight in shining armor though.”

He gave Stephen a gentle kiss. “Would you believe dragon?”

Stephen pondered that, because he loved the idea of a magical man high in his aerie. It wasn’t true—like literally, but it was a lovely idea. “I can see it.”

“Do you like what you see?”

“I do. It’s a grand idea, to be a dragon.”

“What if I tell you that it’s real?”

“How can it be? I mean, is there something I don’t understand?”

“Yes. Dragons are real and we can shift back and forth between being men and being dragons. This is my human form.”

He pulled away and frowned. “What?”

Champ touched him, stroked his shoulder. “It’s okay. I know it’s a lot, but remember? This is your fairy tale.”

“And you’re my dragon? Does that make me the princess?”

“It definitely makes you mine. My companion. My other half. The best of me.”

Stephen wasn’t sure what “other form” might mean, but he was curious. “You have other selves? Other shapes?”

“Exactly. I have a dragon form as well as a human one. Would you like to see?” Champ’s eyes were alight with a fire.

“I—is it scary? I don’t want to be frightened.” He was trying to understand what Champ meant.

“I don’t want you to be scared. My dragon is large, but not so large I can’t fit in this room. I won’t hurt you—I would never hurt you.”

“All right then. I’d like to understand.” He had to figure this out.

“Remember—don’t be scared. It’s still me.” Champ gave him a hug, then stood and stepped back to the center of the room.

Then Champ seemed to shimmer and the man disappeared, leaving a fantastical creature in his place.

Stephen blinked, looking for mirrors or a camera, something. Nothing this big was real outside of a zoo. The creature—fantastical as it was—was huge and mottled colors of red. The scales needed a polishing, a loving, but the glowing bright eyes held him.

The dragon took a breath and smoke drifted from his nostrils.

“Ssstephhhhen.” His name was mostly purr, more sound than word.

“Is this a trick?” He stepped closer, hands reaching out to touch.

“Nooo.” The dragon—Champ!—bent his head, bringing it down to his hands.

“You—you’re real. I can feel you. Are you…whoa. Whoa.” He sat down on the floor, hard.

Champ settled beside him, the big head landing in his lap.

He reached out, petting Champ instinctively. He couldn’t think. He couldn’t. All he could do was run on his gut. As he petted, Champ made that purring noise, but now it was fuller, deeper.

He closed his eyes and petted, tears catching on his eyelashes. The sounds continued, seeming to echo in his ears.

“I don’t understand. Is this some wonderful drug?”

The big dragon shook his head. “Trrrrrruuuuthhhh.” Then Champ raised his head and breathed on him, warm and smoky but the way Champ tasted, too, all wrapped up there.

“Are you scared? Did someone do this to you? Some government agency or something? Does it hurt? Can I help?” Could he help. Right. Jesus, he was a loser.

“Gooood thing. Strrrrrooong.” Champ rubbed a huge cheek against him. “Youuu scarrrrrred?”

“I guess I ought to be, but…” He shrugged. He wasn’t, not yet.

That purring sound began again, settling deep in Stephen’s chest. It felt good, right in a way he couldn’t explain.

He stroked and petted, keeping his touch light and easy. He wasn’t sure what to do, so he just tried to help.

Champ shimmered again and there he was, holding his lover in his arms.

  “I—Hey.” He found himself trembling.

“Hey. You didn’t freak out.” Champ beamed at him, even as he sat up and wrapped around him. “You just cared for me.”

“I—I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do, so I just—” Believed. Which was stupid, but true.

“You did great. It felt amazing, feeling you touching me.”

“You looked like you needed someone to love on you.”

“I’ve never had anyone to. I’ve never trusted enough to share my secret before you.”

“No? No one knows? Did someone do this to you?”

“Well, the boys know because they are like me. And no, this was how I was born. There used to be more of us, but the world has changed, and it isn’t safe and many of my brethren were killed.”

“You…the guys downstairs? I—there is so much.” He was developing a headache.r />
“There is and you can ask anything you want. We can talk about it whenever you want. I just needed you to know sooner than later. Because… well, it’s not the kind of secret I’m going to keep from my special one.”

“I’m not sure what to do. Can I stay here—I mean right here?”

“Of course you can.” Champ hugged him close. “And you don’t have to do anything. I know it’s a lot.”

“It’s just…I guess you know.” He leaned, resting hard as he panted.

“I know. It’s a lot. But it’s real, and now you know and I hope one day it’ll be something you enjoy.”

“So…how? I mean, how did you figure out you could do this?”

“Oh, that was fun. It happened by accident when I hit puberty. Some people’s voice crack; I turned into a dragon.”

“Oh my god! Were you terrified? I mean, I found the whole springing wood thing scary enough.”

“God yes. I thought I was going crazy. I was an orphan, though, and I didn’t think I could tell the family that had taken me in. That probably saved me. They would have likely killed me if I’d told them. We lost a lot of dragons that way.”

“Oh god.” He grabbed Champ and held on tight.

Champ squeezed him equally tight. “There could be more out there in hiding, but Berny, France, and I only know of each other. We’ve been watching each others’ backs for a very long time now. Pooling our resources, all that kind of thing.”

“Are you safe? Do I need to do anything? What about Marc?”

“My dear boy, you are indeed special. Yes, I’m safe. We’re safe. All you need to do is not tell anyone. It’s our secret. And Marc will learn in time. When it’s right. He needs… more.”

“I just…I—” He held Champ tight. He didn’t know what to do, whether he was insane or this was real, but regardless, he didn’t know what to do.

“Be easy, boy. I have you. This isn’t a problem, and one day, I believe you will think it a joy as I do.”

  “I’ll take care of you.”

“Thank you, Stephen. I knew you were special.”

“I’m a dude, but I’m here.” He wasn’t special; he was just confused.

“You’re the lover of a dragon, baby. That alone makes you special, although like I’ve been saying all along—you are special in and of yourself. Very special.”

“A lover of a dragon…” How weird. How wild.

“Yes.” Champ tilted his head and took a kiss, tongue sliding through his mouth. That made the thought easier—the lover of a dragon.

Champ still tasted good, more intense, maybe, but good.

He searched Champ’s eyes, hoping they were okay. Needing them to be okay.

Champ met his gaze, eyes full of heat and care and need.

Okay, as much as they could be, they were okay.

Champ deepened the kiss, fingers sliding beneath the bottom of his T-shirt to move over his skin.

“Is it okay to do this? Now that I know?” Was it weird?

“Why wouldn’t it be? You know me better than anyone now—I have shared something with you no other man I’ve made love to knows.”

“I’ll protect you. I’ll take care of you.” This was a scary thing for Champ to tell. It had to be.

“Thank you, boy. You’re a treasure for sure.”

He was a man, not a dragon. Just a simple artist, but he’d figure this out. He had to.

Champ’s mouth closed over his, tongue delving between his lips, fingers moving over his face.

His thoughts shattered, and he moaned, opening up. Champ delved deeper, tongue moving along his, demanding his attention, his care, and Stephen gave it. He wrapped his arms around Champ and held on tight.

Champ pressed him back, one arm around his back to help lower him gently. He followed, trusting Champ to take him where he needed to go.

Champ was above him, kissing him, hand rubbing his skin and making it sing.

He arched and shifted, sliding on the sofa.

“Want you, boy.” Champ pulled his shirt up over his head before dropping down to his sweats and tugging at them.

“Again?” he teased, even as he wiggled out of his pants.

“Yes. And then again, and then again. And again.” Champ followed each word up with a kiss.

  “Yes. Daddy, please.”

Champ moaned for him. “Yeah, Daddy has you.”

Champ got off on that, and the more Stephen said it, the happier Champ was.

“My boy.” The words were soft growls, full of need, full of want.

  “Yours. Please.”

“Every moment that we’re together, every time we kiss, every time we make love, our bond grows deeper, we become more each other’s. This is a good thing, I promise you. I swear it.”

“You just showed me you were a dragon. You trusted me with yourself and I trust you with myself.”

“Good. You can be confident that I could never hurt you. You’re everything to me.”

He blushed, unable to meet Champ’s eyes. He wasn’t worth that, and he knew it.

Champ growled gently. “You are. I want you to understand that, to know it. I don’t share who I truly am with anyone, but I did with you.”

“You did. It was…I can’t even…” He didn’t have words.

“I only showed that to the most special human I know. That’s you. My beautiful, glowing, special boy.”

“Your boy. Yes.” He leaned their foreheads together.

“Yes.” Champ kissed him again, and this time he felt that, all of Champ’s feelings right there, infusing him with them. He moaned, letting Champ fill him up with peace, from his feet to his head.

The kisses continued unabated, that feeling of peace still there but need joining it.

Stephen moaned, his fingers tangling in Champ’s thick hair.

Champ moved his lips away from Stephen’s mouth, moving to nibble at his neck, and he lifted his chin, begging wordlessly for more. His throat held a half dozen hot spots.

Champ found the first one and stayed there, licking and sucking and making him moan. His cock went from interested to needy, and his nipples went hard.

Groaning, Champ tugged off his T-shirt and slid a hand across his chest, teasing his nips, making them even harder.

They ached, tips hard as nails, begging for Champ’s attention. Champ gave it, fingers wrapping around his left nipple and tugging, pulling on it.

A sweet ache flooded him, making him pant. Oh more. And Champ gave it to him, pinching and tugging and twisting. That little bit of flesh could make him feel so very much.

“It’s big. Daddy, I need you. It’s so big.”

“It’s going to get bigger,” Champ promised. His Daddy moved to the other nipple, tugging and twisting it as well.

“Bigger…” He wasn’t sure he could handle bigger.

“Uh-huh. A whole lot bigger.” Champ rubbed the tip of his nipple, finger moving back and forth.

That little tease, that tingling pressure was perfect. Maddening but perfect.

Champ licked at the skin beneath his ear, finding a hot spot and lighting it up.

  “M-m-more.” Lord, he was stuttering.

“Mmm. My needy boy.” Champ licked from the spot beneath his ear downward, finding another hot spot right where his neck met his shoulder. Champ immediately wrapped his lips around the spot and applied suction.

He let a tiny cry slip out, almost a moan.

Champ purred, the sound vibrating along the skin on Stephen’s neck.

“Daddy!” He moaned louder, just buzzing with pleasure.

Champ purred again, then slid his lips along to find another hot spot.

He sank into it, moaning deep in his chest, his whole world Champ. His Daddy moved from hot spot to hot spot, spending time on each one, revving him up higher and higher.

He ached, from his toes to his hair, but it was an amazing feeling, deep and wild and free.

Champ worked their sweats off while he licked and s
ucked and kissed and drove Stephen crazy.

“I need you to love me, please.” He begged, head tossing.

“Uh-huh. I will. Just taking it slow. I want to be thorough.”

  “Thorough is good. Very good.”

“I think so.” Champ nibbled on his Adam’s apple, fingers still playing with his right nipple, making it so very sensitive.

  “Aches.” And he loved it.

“Uh-huh. So good, eh?” Champ wrapped his lips around the edge of Stephen’s collarbone—he hadn’t even realized he had a hot spot there, but it was burning for Champ.

He bucked, his leaking cock leaving a line of need on Champ’s skin.

Champ moaned for him, the sound echoing through the room.

He smelled them, together, and it was heady, addictive.

“I need you, boy. I don’t think I can wait much longer. You take my sense, my control.” Champ’s voice was rough. It sounded wanton and needy.

  “I’m right here. Right here.”

“I know. And I’m going to make love to you, send you to the moon.”

  “Not literally, right?”

“No, boy, not literally. Figuratively, eh?”

He met Champ’s eyes. “You understand why I had to ask, right?”

Champ grinned suddenly. “I do. Your lover is a dragon. It kind of opens the realms of what’s possible.”

“Exactly. I’m totally in to figurative going to the moon though.”

“Then let’s do it, baby. Let’s go to the moon and back.”

“I’m yours. I want you. Please.” He opened up and trusted Champ.

Champ moved down, spreading his legs. “I need to get you ready.”

“Oh god. Yes. For you.” He felt a little desperate.

Champ spread his legs and pushed between them, tongue sliding along his crack.

“Daddy!” His eyes rolled back in his head, and his heartbeat pounded loud in his ears.

Champ’s lips curled into a smile against his asscheeks, then came another lick, Champ pressing where his hole was, not breaching, but licking hard.

He stared at the ceiling, looking at nothing at all, caught in the utter, overwhelming pleasure.

Champ licked and pressed and licked and pressed and did it again. Each time he pressed, Stephen was sure that this time Champ was going to push right in, but it didn’t happen, driving Stephen crazy.

He needed to be spread; he needed to be stretched and filled and possessed. He needed to be fucked.
