The Millionaire Plan

‘To buy you the best engagement ring I can find and have a big, posh wedding,’ he told her. ‘Those are Chloe’s orders.’
‘That’s the one rule our plans agree on,’ she told him. ‘It’s the final rule of the Millionaire Plan.’ She smiled at him. ‘Do you know something? I broke most of the rules and still managed to hook you. ‘
‘Which just shows we were meant to be together.’ He pulled her down beside him, hugging her to him, and rolled them both onto their sides so they were facing each other.
‘I think we were,’ she agreed, kissing her way up his throat.
‘Does that mean you’ll marry me?’ His tawny eyes held hers, and she saw the love shining through them.
Her heart filled with happiness and love for him. He did trust her or he wouldn’t have come looking for her. Why should he? He could have his pick of women. But money can’t buy love and he wanted her love.
‘Amber?’ He cupped her cheek in his hand. ‘Will you marry me?’
‘Yes,’ she whispered. ‘Yes, please!’
‘Thank you, sweetheart,’ he murmured, holding her tight and kissing her, sweetly, slowly, deeply.
For a few moments, they lay in silence, wrapped in each other’s arms, content to just hold each other.
‘Happy?’ Jed mumbled against her ear.
Ecstatic.
‘Very,’ she said, nudging up even closer to him.
‘It seems both of our plans worked,’ Jed teased, stroking her hair. ‘You got your millionaire and I got you.’
She smiled at him. ‘We both forgot to plan what happens after we get married,’ she said.
‘You’re right.’ He kissed her forehead. ‘Well, you made ten rules so I’ve got three more rules to make. Let me see,’ he thought for a moment then smiled. ‘Rule eight is to have a long, exotic honeymoon. And rule nine is to choose a lovely new home to live in.’
‘And rule ten?’
‘That’s easy,’ he told her, his eyes brimming with love. ‘To live happily ever after.’
‘That,’ she replied softy, ‘is the best rule of all.’
