“You’re so sexy. I can’t believe you’re mine,” he said, running his fingers back and forth between my legs. “When did you get this wet?”

When he began licking me, my entire body felt weak, overwhelmed by the incredible sensation. The steady, firm flicks of his tongue created an electrifying build-up. I struggled to keep still even though my hands were tied to my back and Isaac’s hands were around my hips.

“Isaac,” I moaned, writhing as a ripple of pleasure rushed through me.

“Stay right here. Don’t move,” he ordered.

Once I heard the rustle of a condom wrapper, I grew tense. Although I was dripping wet with arousal, the thought of his girthy member inside me made me a little nervous. On top of that, it had been so long since I slept with anyone.

“Do you need more time to warm up?” he asked, planting kisses along my lower back.

“No.” I gulped. “I want you inside me.”

  “I’ll go slow,” he muttered.

He entered me carefully, going deeper and deeper until he’d completely filled me up. As he pounded into me, I was reminded of the moment we first met. Though I had been annoyed by the smirk on his face and his self-assured demeanor, I couldn’t deny how I’d been terribly attracted to his strong, toned physique. On a primal level, the thought of him getting his way and devouring me with his powerful body turned me on more than anything. He was claiming me as his, and there was nothing I wanted more. I screamed with pleasure without meaning to.

  “You like that?” he growled.

“Better than anything else in the world,” I purred.

“Let me see your face.” He pulled out and removed the belt around my wrists, freeing my arms. “I want to see you enjoying this.”

Isaac turned me around so I was lying on my back. While we gazed into each other’s eyes, he thrust into me again. Before long, an intensely pleasurable feeling flooded my body.

“I love you, Yumi,” he said, stroking my hair with one hand and grabbing the small of my waist with the other.

  “Really?” I asked.

“You’re the woman of my dreams. I love you more than anything,” he replied, his eyes full of sincerity and his chest heaving.

“I love you too,” I said, my finger on his chiseled jawline as I admired his gorgeous features.

“I don’t think I can last long. Yumi, you’re too beautiful,” he grunted.

When he broke into climax, I came with him, tugging on his hair and squirming uncontrollably.

After we cleaned ourselves up, I took a glance at the trail of petals and pointed toward the bedroom. “You know, we haven’t even gone in there yet.”

“Don’t worry.” He chuckled, cupping my cheek. “We have a long night ahead of us. I assure you, by the time we leave tomorrow, you won’t see any corner of this suite in the same way again.”

  Epilogue

My proposal ended up being the biggest plot twist of my life. Since Isaac and I had been in a relationship for over four years by then, I knew he was in it for the long haul; I just hadn’t expected to be the first one out of my friends to get hitched. We’d both graduated, and I was working at the Bank of Korea, while he was an intern at West Seoul University Hospital.

One spring day, he nonchalantly told me over lunch, “I think we should get married.”

I chuckled, not taking the conversation seriously as we occasionally discussed marriage in passing. In hindsight, he’d set up a perfect scenario for a proposal; we were sitting at a fine-dining restaurant on one of the upper floors of the 63 Building, a landmark skyscraper overlooking the Han River.

“Is that a yes?” he asked, tilting his head a little.

“It’s been a yes since the day you asked me out in the snow,” I replied, sipping on a glass of Champagne. Now, to my defense, I’d been totally oblivious since Isaac had claimed he wanted to treat me to lunch after he supposedly received a generous bonus with his last paycheck.

“Yumi,” he said as he got up from his seat.

  “What is it?”

When he got down on one knee in front of me, I nearly fell to the ground. I hadn’t seen it coming at all.

“Will you marry me?” he asked, pulling out a navy case from his pocket and opening it.

I simply nodded, lost for words as I stared at the diamond ring in front of me. The rest was history. We kissed passionately, then ate crème brûlée.

When I later asked him why he’d technically proposed to me twice, the first time while we were both seated, and the second with the ring, he shrugged and said, “I was nervous.”

Our wedding took place that fall. If we had it our way, we would’ve had a small wedding, but both of our parents insisted otherwise. Though I wasn’t particularly excited about having almost a thousand guests at my wedding, I was glad to have all of my closest friends with me. Stella flew in from New York with her fiancé, while Dana attended the wedding alone, as her boyfriend was shooting something in the Swiss Alps.

According to Yuhan, the wedding was absurdly long. However, the hours whizzed by in an instant for me. Although a number of people shared speeches, for me, the most memorable ones were from Dana and my father-in-law.

“Isaac and Yumi, to me, you guys are living proof that soulmates exist,” Dana proclaimed dramatically, causing the crowd to roar with laughter. “I’m not being soppy. This is really the truth. Because, Yumi, once upon a time, you used to be the biggest cynic. It’s been amazing to see you transform into a beautiful bride who gets giddy and sentimental while she’s shopping for wedding dresses. Isaac, you’re the luckiest man in the world. I maintain that you hacked Yumi’s computer at the Internet café so she’d accidentally register for the same course as you.”

Then my father-in-law started off his speech with the words, “There’s no one right way when it comes to love. Today is an exciting day because my son is the first person in my family to marry a fairy.” The guests began belly-laughing. Once the guffaws died down, he went on. “When most people meet their in-laws for the first time, they’re sitting at a restaurant, dressed to the nines. However, this wasn’t the case for us. The first day I met my daughter-in-law, she had wings on her back. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for my son and Tinkerbell.”

Money, fame and popularity—great stuff to have, except when it’s all you’ve got.

A part of me died when I was thirteen.

I’ve been trapped in a tunnel without a light ever since.

Although I put on a smile and sang songs about love, dark lyrics consumed my mind.

There was no way I could open up to anyone.
