Chapter 33
Two weeks later Trey, Daniel and I, make our way back to the infirmary to get checked over by Dr. Mandoza, the academy doctor, while Jacinta anxiously stands behind, waiting to hear the outcome.
“Trey and Bianca,” Dr. Mandoza says, “You’re both cleared to return to your usual activities. Bianca, just be careful with your wounds, I know your stitches have just come out, but we don’t want to risk opening the wound or infection. I’ll be speaking with your instructors and advising light training for the next few weeks,” she says as Trey and I give each other a high five.
“Daniel,” she says with a regrettable sigh, “I’m reluctant to clear you for another week or so, but after so many years treating you, I know you’re just going to jump right in and do it anyway. So, you’re good for everything except sparring, you can beat a punching bag to a pulp, just no sparring. Understood?” she warns with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes ma’am,” he says as we file out of the infirmary.
“I want to see you in a few days, Daniel,” she calls at our retreating forms.
We head towards the cafeteria doors when Nora throws herself against Daniel and they commence making out in the hall. A sight that will definitely take a while to get used to. Trey and Jacinta push through the cafeteria doors when they notice I’m not following.
“Aren’t you coming?” Jacinta asks.
“No,” I smile, “There’s something I’ve been meaning to do.”
Ten minutes later, I knock on the hard door in front of me. A small brown-haired girl opens the door, confusion on her face as she looks up at the stranger before her. “Um, hi,” she mutters shyly and I notice the grief and longing behind her eyes.
“Hi, are you Morgan?” I ask with a smile, trying to calm her nerves.
“Ah, yes,” she stutters, her eyes widening as she takes in the scars and faded bruising on my face and arms.
“My name is Bianca.” Her mouth pops open at hearing my name and I realize she must know exactly who I am or at least heard about what happened. “I’ve been meaning to come and talk with you. I was hoping you wouldn’t mind taking a walk around the academy with me? I’d like to share a story with you.”
She nods and slips out through the door, allowing me to share my story, her brown eyes widening in shock as I let her know the monster of my dreams was the same as hers. We chat about my nightmares and she confides that she has them too. My heart breaks for her and I let her know just how I got past it.
She shares her own nightmare with me and I can tell she still has a long way to go, but I’m happy that I’ve been able to help her in some small way.
----------
I cringe at the sound of my alarm on Monday morning, after two weeks of no training and amazing sleep-ins, it’s going to take me a while to get back in the swing of things. I get ready and head down to the gym. I smile to myself as I check the time. 7:05 am. Perfect.
I push through the doors and get a look at my beautiful man, waiting on his favorite bench. He looks down at his watch “You’re late,” he scolds.
“Oh, really?” I ask with a smirk. “I didn’t notice.”
“You’re such a smart ass,” he says, shaking his head and smirking right back at me.
He picks up a pair of boxing gloves off the ground and hands them over. “Here,” he says as I take the gloves from him while a sparkle hits his eyes. “I thought we’d start with something easy today. You know, something a little more your speed.”
“Woah, look who’s a smart ass now,” I laugh, slipping the gloves on to my hands and stepping up in front of him. “But no need to worry, you know, I’ve never had a problem keeping up with you, In fact,” I smile, “bring it on.”
His eyes sparkle with the challenge and I know keeping my hands off this amazing man until graduation is going to be the hardest thing I’ll ever do.
“Wait,” he says, stepping back and digging in his pocket. He pulls out my bullet chain and loops it over my neck, placing it next to my Dad’s chain. I look down at the two bullets now resting against my chest. Perfect. I look up at him with a bright smile, silently telling him everything I’m not allowed to say and letting him know just how much I love him.
He gives me a knowing smile and nods his head, understanding what I’m trying to say. I slide my glove off and slip my bullets down under my shirt, keeping them safe against me. After sliding my glove back on, I give Rylan the look that says ‘I’m ready to kick some major ass’.
I step up in front of him once again. “You never did tell me how you got shot,” I say, unexpectedly lunging for him and proving that Bianca Moore is not one to be messed with.
“Now, that’s a story I’m not quite sure you can handle,” he taunts as his eyes sparkle, declaring war.
“Like I said,” holding my hands up for what’s about to come. “Bring it on.”

Ever wanted to become someone’s prisoner? Yeah…it’s not that fun.
I thought it was supposed to get easier. Life had just gotten back to normal and I thought all I had to do was focus on my training and get through my midterm examinations, putting me one step closer to graduation.
The worst was already over…wasn’t it?
My only problem is keeping my hands off my incredible combat instructor. Rylan had saved me in more ways than one. Thanks to him, my monster is dead and I actually have a chance of graduating, hell maybe even at the top of my class, just as I’ve always dreamed. He just happened to steal my heart in the process. Life had never been better…
I couldn’t be more wrong.
When the Fairy Queen demands my eternal presence as her prisoner and will stop at nothing to make that happen, lives are forever changed. Especially when the entire future of The Guard is threatened and resting on my shoulders.
I never saw it coming, but it’s what comes next that could change it all.
