I Only Have Eyes For You

Shock flew through her rendering her speechless, and her body stiffened.
Moving in together said a lot about their relationship and the more that she wished for. However, from where she stood it seemed that the more she was wishing for was just about to happen.
He confirmed it by opening the box to reveal an extremely beautiful princess-cut diamond set in the center of a gold engagement ring.
Savannah had to grab onto the edge of the kitchen counter quickly to keep herself from falling. She looked from the ring to him and back again, hoping this wasn’t a dream.
“Savannah, I only have eyes for you. I told you once that a hundred years would pass and I would still want you. Just you. To truly be happy I need you. I want to spend the rest of forever with you. Please be mine. Please be my wife.” He looked up at her with hopeful eyes and so much love it made her feel even weaker.
She gazed down lovingly at this beautiful, amazing man before her who’d changed her life in so many ways. Every moment of their time together flashed before her eyes and took her right back to the night she first met him.
Right here in this very kitchen. He’d mesmerized her then, just like he did now.
He was her true love.
Her eyes filled with tears of joy as she nodded with deep conviction and said, “Yes. I will.”
The answer was always yes for him. Always.
His face radiated with excitement, love, and appreciation, and his eyes sparkled as brightly as the diamond on the ring.
Her heart soared as she watched him slip the ring onto her finger. It felt as if it had always belonged there.
She watched as he lifted her hand up to his lips and bowed his head to her like you would in Japan to show your deepest respect and love. When he looked back up, she noticed that his eyes were filled with tears, too.
“Thank you,” he told her, kissing her hand. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” She nodded, sinking into his embrace as he stood up and pulled her in.
She laughed when he picked her up and spun her around.
“Finally. A person could perish from waiting on you two.” They both looked around quickly to see Jake coming through the door smiling excitedly at them. Her mother, father, Breana and Laura joined him with smiles matching his.
Knowing them, the way she did, she knew for certain that they must have all been listening in behind that door. Savannah laughed at the thought.
“You guys.” She shook her head at them then stretched out her hand to show off her ring. “We’re engaged,” she shrieked.
“Congratulations,” they all said at the same time and clapped. Hiroshi slipped his arm around her.
“This is all down to me and my magical ways. I introduced them, you know,” Jake started to brag. “Rosh, now we can be brothers for real. B.I.L.”
Hiroshi laughed.
“What is B.I.L.?” Breanna shook her head at Jake.
“Brothers in law,” Hiroshi offered, much to Jake’s satisfaction.
“Yes, see,” Jake stated. “The man understands me.”
Everyone laughed.
“We had a hand in this, too,” Breana jumped in.
“Yes, we did,” Laura added, she was still eating ice cream.
While they all started to argue about who had the most influence on them, Hiroshi pulled Savannah to one side.
“So, where do you want to call home? We can live anywhere, you choose.”
“Well, Mr. Fujita, I quite like Japan.”
That didn’t seem to surprise him in the least. “Okay.” He nodded and smiled. “Japan it is. Mrs. Fujita?”
Oh, she absolutely loved the sound of that. Mrs. Fujita. It just lifted her soul.
“But I guess you won’t be California Girl anymore.” As he smiled, his eyes took her in with the deepest love and adoration.
“I think I’ll be okay with that.” She laughed and snuggled against him as he slipped his arm around her, holding her close to his heart.
There she would stay forever.
