“I do want to thank you all for being there for me. You’re right, I’ve been feeling so lonesome and I was tired when I got here but being around you all has refreshed me and has made me think about a lot of things that I want in my life for myself.”

Taking a bite out of the salmon with the dill sauce, Regina exclaimed, “You have to give me the recipe for this Bertha, I’ve never had this before. It’s wonderful.” Dipping some crusty bread into the sauce, Regina relished the taste of it. She felt in her heart things would be good for her as she listened in on Jeff and Martha’s conversation.

Regina decided to have her dessert—cheesecake with fresh strawberries—in her room. She was anxious about calling Collin. Grabbing the phone and taking it to her bed, Regina sat and dialed the number that she had for Collin’s office from Maxine. Silently saying a prayer to herself, she listened as the phone rang.

“Thank you for calling Nicholas, Tatum, and Rutherford, this is Nancy how may I help you today?”

“Hi Nancy, it’s me Regina, how are you?” she asked before taking a bite out of the cheesecake in front of her.

“Oh my God Regina I’m doing great now that I’ve heard your voice, how are you?”

“I’m doing just fine. I was wondering if you could put me through to Collin.”

“Oh he’s going to be very excited to hear from you, hold on just one second.”

Regina waited for what felt like forever, to hear the familiar sound of his voice that she would often listen for daily that lovely melodious sound would cause every part of her body to quiver. It was time to finally get things squared away with Collin Noonan.

  “Yes this is Collin.”

Regina’s heart skipped a beat and she took a swallow of the cheesecake before she licked her lips and said, “Hello Collin.”

“Regina, Regina baby is that you?”

“What happened, it sounded like you were wrestling with the phone or something over there?” She giggled as he did the same.

“You can say I was, but my God it’s good to hear your voice again. How have you been doing? Where are you? I’ve missed you so much and I’ve wanted to talk with you but I know we said in a week. But I was going out of my mind with worry over you.”

Regina couldn’t help but laugh as he talked a mile a minute. “Collin hush will you, I can barely understand you!”

Collin laughed again and took a deep breath. “I’m sorry darling. I just thought that, I mean I don’t know what I was thinking actually. I just got so excited hearing your voice again. Where are you anyway?”

“I’ve staying at this place called Cella’s Bed and Breakfast over by Myer’s Lake. It’s been really peaceful here and the owners have been so nice to me. I have this older couple that has been keeping me company and they’ve been so sweet. I’ve had time to sit back and collect my thoughts Collin and I think we need to talk.” Taking another bite of her cheesecake, Regina waited for his response.

“I think so too and I want to hear all that you have to tell me Gina, I’m coming up there right now all right? We can just put everything out on the table,” Collin assured her.

“I was hoping you would say that.” Regina took another bite of the cheesecake, letting out a contented moan.

“What are you doing over there?”

“Eating a piece of homemade cheesecake with strawberries, you can have a piece when you get here if you like,” Regina said as she started making yummy sounds over the phone.

“If you can get me a slice without the strawberries, then that would be fine, I’m allergic to strawberries.”

“Really, I didn’t know that. Well, I’ll see if Bertha can save you a slice or two without it. I’ll be waiting for you, I think you’re going to like it here Collin.”

“Baby, can you do me one favor before I get off the phone with you?”

  “Sure, what is it?”

“Can you say my name one more time?” he asked so softly she could hear his voice crack a bit and she honestly couldn’t help but reply to his request.

  “Collin.”

  “I’m on my way baby.”

Hanging up the phone, Regina couldn’t help but tear up at how he sounded so excited to hear her voice. She had been just as excited to hear him but it was the emotion within that voice when he sounded as if he was crying on the other end that made her weak in the knees.

As Regina came into the kitchen, Bertha asked, “Is he coming here?”

“Yeah and do you have any more of the cheesecake left but without the strawberries?”

“Of course, I can have two slices saved for him and would you like some tea along with it?”

“That sounds pretty good. Now, all I have to do is wait for him to come. I just hope he doesn’t go crazy on the road and starts speeding his way down here.” Regina laughed as Bertha shook her head.

Regina started a small fire in the fireplace to get the chill out of the room. The aura of the flame gave the room a much warmer feeling. Sitting in the rocker waiting for Collin, Regina found herself slowly falling asleep as the warmth of the fire as well as the food she ate earlier made her feel comfy and cozy.

Girl you’ve got to stay up until he gets here, wake up Regina!

She opened her eyes and went to the kitchen to make some tea to drink back in her room.

Collin decided before he left to get on the road that he would head over to his place and pack a small bag of things for the rest of the week. He wasn’t going to let her go now that he had her back in his life again. He knew that whatever she had to say to him, he would totally understand completely and maybe they could work things out with each other. After changing into some comfortable clothes and getting his bag, he headed out to meet his true love again.

The blaring lights and siren of a cop car in Collin’s rearview mirror started him cussing under his breath while pulling over to the side of the highway. “Shit and damn!” he hissed as he turned off the engine and waited for the cop to walk over. When the cop stood by his window, he rolled it down.

“Sir, do you know how fast you were going just now?”

“No sir, I don’t know,” Collin replied as he started to become anxious. This guy was taking too long, keeping him from Regina.

“Can I get your license and registration sir?” Collin handed him what asked for and he walked away but the cop came right back to the car and asked, “You’re last name is Noonan?”

Curious about his reaction, Collin told him, “That’s what it says on the license.”

“Do you have a brother name Kenny and another brother name Kendrick? You know, now that I look at you good, you look just like them both.” He chuckled.

Collin laughed. “Yeah, it’s the hair that gives us away.”

“Both your brothers are a trip and a half, always have me laughing to the point I nearly piss my pants. Kenny’s in my precinct by the way, I’ll let you go since you’re his bro and all, just make sure you be careful driving out here and slow down. Where are you headed anyways?” the officer asked.

  “A place called Cella’s.”

“Say that’s just about ten miles down the road here till you see the sign on the left.”

“Thanks, I appreciate it.” The officer gave Collin his things and gave him a nod while walking away. Collin put on his seatbelt again as he waited for a way to get back into traffic once more. When he saw an opening he quickly got back on the road again. As the miles sped by, Collin’s heart started racing and he was sweating up a storm so he turned on the AC full blast. He wanted to take her in his arms and hold her forever. Soon he saw the sign and made the turn onto the road.

  Chapter Ten

Regina thought she heard a car coming up the road. As she got out of the rocker, she saw his car pulling in beside her own. A knot quickly formed in her throat as she walked out of her room and onto the porch. His red hair popped up from the car door as he looked around while she made her way toward the front of the house. She stood
there with a smile when he noticed her standing there at last.

The look on his face was beautiful as he came closer to her. He obviously appreciated the time she put into getting ready the way his gaze trailed over her floral print dress. All she wanted to do was stare at him as he stared back at her. The only thing heard between them was the whistling of the wind through the trees and the rustle of her dress.

“Regina, I heard a car coming in…” Bertha’s words faded away as she stood at the door, smiled and slowly walked back inside.

Looking into those beautiful green eyes of his, wisps of red hair lightly blew across his forehead. Regina reached down and ran her fingers along his forehead and Collin closed his eyes. Grabbing her hand, he held it against his cheek while kissing her palm. His lips made her skin tingle when they touched and she could see tears in his eyes as he said, “God I’ve missed you Gina.”

She couldn’t help but get choked up a bit as he held her in his arms. “Oh Gina, I’m so sorry for making you so angry with me.”

“Come with me, let’s go to my room and we can talk.” Regina pulled away from him taking his hand to lead him back to her room. Once they got inside, she sat him down in the rocker while she went into the bathroom to get a warm washcloth. “Here you go wipe your face sweetheart we’ve both cried enough tears.”

After wiping his face, Collin looked at her and said, “You’re right, no more tears. I want to hear what you have to say to me Gina, tell me what’s on your mind?”

Sitting in a chair, Regina pulled it up closer to him and sat back as he did the same. “I shouldn’t take you back after how much you humiliated me that day. I can’t tell you how many times not being able to talk to you again crossed my mind. I have never been so angry and so upset with someone I thought cared for me in my life. Honestly, I rarely get mad with anyone, but that day, I got so angry with Carol and mainly with you for what you did. That’s part of the reason why I had to leave. Everything at that moment was just like the worse nightmare ever. I’ve felt so good after I left town and I’ve been thinking about a lot of things that I want to have happened.”

“What has been on your mind darling, tell me?”

“I want an explanation as to why you went through with that party, even though you said you didn’t want to, you went and did it anyways,” Regina demanded. She watched Collin sit up in his chair and take her hands in his, rubbing softly along her knuckles as he looked into her eyes.

“Before I met you Regina, most of the women I dealt with were basically one night stands, women who held no meaning to me in my life. I would pick up a woman, have sex with them and then say I would call them the next day which nine times out of ten I wouldn’t even bother. But then I met you that day in the elevator Regina, I saw a woman who was so shy that she was shaking, I had thought it was funny actually because I had never seen a woman being nervous around me like you were. And at that time, I was looking for someone to take to the party. Since you were there, I figured well why not and that’s part of the reason why I asked you to lunch, because I was a fucking idiot who was being a chauvinistic asshole who only thought about his feelings and not a woman’s.

“But as I said, I got to know the real Gina, the woman behind the shy ways and I thought to myself, my God, where has this woman been all of my life. You were the one woman that whenever we were together, my heart skipped a beat, my hands were sweaty and all of my dreams were of being with you the next day. I’ve never felt that way about any other woman Regina, not until I met you. I don’t know why I took you to that party, maybe it was because of the fact that I wanted to prove something, being the idiot I was, I’ve always strived to be the best in everything I’ve done and the parties made me feel like I was some big shot in the game. But after being with you and after this happened, it made realize how wrong I was. When I saw the hurt in your eyes, it made me realize what I did to those other girls I had been with over the years.”

“Sweetheart, I’m glad you realized what you did was wrong and how you hurt not just one but a lot of women. Some men don’t have to deal with the ridicule, the embarrassment or the name calling. Even with one night stands. To us, we think we’ve found the one guy that makes our lives complete. A cold dose of truth dashes our hopes when we see how we were used in your games and being played for a fool. That’s what I felt when I found out what you did, a complete fool. The one good thing that’s come from this experience is it’s made me a much stronger woman.”

Collin stared at her and asked, “So, where do we go from here?”

“Let’s start at the beginning again, take our time and get to know each other better than we first did. I want to know the real Collin Noonan.”

He got up from his chair and on his knees in front of her. “I can handle that but there is something I do want.”

Smiling, she asked, “And that is what?”

“Move in with me.” Collin chuckled at the shock on her face.

“Move in with you, are you for real?”

“I don’t want to lose you again Regina, plus I want us to live together. Having you in my home would be a dream come true, that is if you decide you want to do it.”

Regina took a deep breath, got up from her chair and walked toward the door. She rubbed the back of her neck and looked back at him as he sat on the end of her bed. “If we do this, there is one thing I ask.”

  “Ask away baby.”

“I don’t want to live in the city. I want us to move back to the house in the suburbs instead,” Regina asked him.

Collin had hoped they would be living in the city in his apartment, but he realized she wanted to get out and far from everyone and everything.

“All right, that sounds just fine with me. I can either put my apartment up for sale or probably rent it out. You can get out of your lease, do whatever you want with your things, and we can move in together as soon as possible.”

Regina smiled and quickly hugged him around his neck. She had never felt as good as she did at that moment.

“We are going to do this right Regina and I promise you that I’ll make it right for us from now on.”

She softly planted a kiss on his forehead, then on his right cheek and his left. Giggling, she kissed the tip of his nose and he laughed as well. Regina had anticipated this for such a long time, feeling him holding her like this, to have him kiss her lips sealing their fate together. But just as she was just about to kiss him, she shocked him by saying, “Let’s go and get some cheesecake.” And she walked over to the door.

“Whoa, wait just a minute young lady, weren’t you about to kiss me just now?”

“Yes I was,” Regina told him as she tried her best hold in her laughter.

“And now you’re leaving me hanging over here, just when you were about to put those beautiful lips on mine.”

“Well I know you wanted some of that cheesecake. I know all of those yummy sounds I made over the phone earlier tempted you. I just thought that maybe you would want a piece, at least before Jeff and Mr. Rosenthal got to it.” She watched him get up, walk over to the door, and quickly closing it before grabbing her around her waist and kissing her passionately. He deepened the kiss, his tongue played hungrily with hers. His teeth started to nibble on her lower lip. “Screw the cheesecake, I got what I want right here in my arms.”

As Regina laughed at his response, Collin slowly walked her toward the bed and pushed her onto the softness of the comforter and pillows as he continued to softly kiss her lips. His hands roamed over her breasts and gently squeezed them, teasing her nipples through the cups of her bra. Her leg intertwined with his own while her arms stayed around his neck, her fingers running through his hair as he growled softly against her neck.

Regina winced as his bites along her neck started getting more intense, making his way down toward her breasts. She watched as he quickly pulled up her dress and sat up just enough for him to get it completely off her and over her head, throwing it on the floor. He started takin
g off his shirt while Regina undid his jeans, noticing the thick bulge in front. As his cock sprang forward, she took him in her hands and softly started to stroke it.

“No baby, I want to take my time with you right now, even though I could rush into it. I don’t want to do that baby, I want to go slow with you and let us both enjoy this moment. Hearing you moaning my name while we make love is something that I’ve wanted to hear for days now.”

Regina pulled him close for another kiss lying on top of her. The warmth of his cock rubbed against her stomach, exciting her. Closing her eyes, she giggled at how his lips so delicately skimmed against her skin that they tickled her. She watched as he went looking in his pockets for a condom and had to laugh when he said, “Shit, I forgot to bring my bag inside and I got myself all worked up.”

“Don’t worry Collin, I’m on the pill.” She smiled as he chuckled.

“You little minx you, always coming prepared I see.” She couldn't help but gasp when he entered her already wet pussy. It had been a while since they had made love but it felt just like the first time. “God you feel so good baby.”

Regina smiled, savoring him once more as his body slowly moved into a rhythm she could easily follow. This time Regina knew they were making love for real. She could be like this with him forever, raking her fingers along his back as he hiked up her thick thighs around his waist driving his hips into her. Every thrust he made caused Regina to moan. She barely registered him muttering something under his breath. His body seemed to shake over her. Collin bruised her lips with his as he hungrily devoured them, quickening the pace of his hips. The headboard bumped hard and fast up against the wall as if kissing her got him more excited.

“Oh God Regina, baby, man you feel so good!” he stammered, holding her face in his hand while his hips thrust faster into her.
