When Blondie walked in and shared a smirk with Renee’, everyone was wondering what the hell was going on. Renee’ continued to play with her nails while taking in all the tension that was in the house. Finally, the silence was broken.

“What the hell is she doing here?” Leon questioned.

“She is the last piece of the puzzle,” Renee’ smiled.

  “What damn puzzle?” Shay asked.

“You will see in just a minute,” Renee’ replied as she pointed to a chair for Blondie to take a seat. “I think we should start with you Leon,” Renee’ smiled.

  “What about me?” Leon inquired.

“Well, first off, we all know that you and Blondie was the couple to be on campus. So, when you stepped to me saying that you were no longer with Blondie and wanted to see what’s up with me, I was down,” Renee’s stated.

“Yeah, and while you were trying to get with her, we were still fucking,” Blondie added.

“It wasn’t like that,” Leon said.

“Boy bye. We all know that you were full of shit then and more, full of shit, being that Shawn just pounded it in you,” Renee’ mentioned.

Leon couldn’t say anything so he just sat there looking dumb.

“What is all this about? We all know that Leon and Blondie were together at one point before you and he got together,” Shay said to Renee’.

“Yeah, you are right, they were together before I was in the picture. The thing that got me was Leon here never once tried to make peace with me and Blondie. He would just laugh it off and say Blondie just wants me to herself, so that’s what I believed,” Renee’ stated.

“Yeah, I was told the same thing. What shocked me was when I was in the library one day, Renee’ stepped to me asking could she talk to me. At first, I was like hell naw, but then I thought about it and said sure,” Blondie added.

Once again Leon had the dumbfounded face. He just wasn’t ready for what was about to be said. Renee’ and Blondie broke it down to Leon how they found out that he was trying to play them both, so they plotted against him. Blondie was supposed to get pregnant by him, while Renee’ marries him. No matter what, Blondie was going to get child support and Renee’ was going to get spousal support and pain and suffering. There was nothing for Leon to say. His mouth was open, but no words could come out.

The conversation shifted over to Shawn and Shay. Blondie explained that Shawn was her brother and what his role in everything was. Shawn was supposed to get with Shay to get her information to her bank account, but he couldn’t do so. Turns out Blondie always thought that Shawn may be down-low, but she could never be sure. She did notice how Shawn and Leon would look at each other so she put in her own plan. The plan was to see if Shawn and Leon would act on the vibe that they were giving off to Blondie. So, after Blondie talked with Renee’ she called Shawn to go over to Leon’s just to kick it. She wanted to see if what she thought was right and sure enough it was.

“I just sat here and heard a hell of a lot, but I have one question. How was it that no one knew you had a brother, Blondie?” Shay asked.

“Yeah, we were together a long time and I never heard you say anything about having a brother,” Leon added.

“That’s an easy one,” Shawn blurted out. “Because she is not my sister, but my baby mama,” he continued.

“Wait…wait…wait one damn minute. Baby mama, what in the hell,” Renee’ yelled.

“We had planned to trap Leon from the start, but it never happened. So, when you came along we thought it was the perfect time to make our move. I have always been bisexual, so getting Leon to sleep with me was like taking candy from a baby,” Shawn bragged.

“Shay was just going to be a bonus for us,” Blondie laughed.

Everyone just sat there in silence for at least ten minutes before anyone said anything. The silence was finally broken when Blondie stood up and told Leon that no matter what, he was the father of her child. Blondie told Shawn to get up so they could leave. He refused to do so, because he wanted to stay and be with Leon. Renee’ just shook her head and told Leon that she would be sending the divorce papers to him within the next few days. Shay on the other hand, was just overwhelmed with everything, that she just got up and left.

By the time I was done writing this story, I was second guessing all the people that were in my life. It taught me that everyone isn’t always who they say they are. There are many masks that people wear in this world, so you must be careful of those that you allow to get close to you. I learned a lot from writing this story. It made me want to reveal the mask that I have on now. At the beginning, I told you that writing this story I was truly affected by it. Well, the reason for that is, because my name is not really Evelyn, but I am 35. My real name is Kennedi, the daughter of Terrance’s twin, Torrance. I’m his only daughter, from when he was about sixteen and had a one-night stand, when he was drunk after the club. I was just blessed to be in the right place at the right time. I must say, that this story gave me the boost that I needed for my career.

  Chapter 5

Keema’s mother fussed for hours, but Keema honestly didn’t care. It wasn’t fair that she had to stay home at such a young age and watch kids that wasn’t hers. It wasn’t like her sister and brother-in-law were doing something important. They left the kids at Keema’s house while they went out for alone time.

“I’m so sick of your little fast ass always out here in these little nappy headed boys faces,” her mom ranted.

“He ain’t nappy headed, he got good hair,” Keema mumbled to herself.

Her mother looked back thinking she heard something, then shook it off, because she knew Keema wasn’t that damn stupid to be talking back. The fact that she was embarrassed by her mother had her feeling all kinds of ways. David was so important to her, she was hoping he wasn’t laughing at her. Continuing to listen to her mother, she sat quietly twiddling her thumbs until she was dismissed.

Inside her room she sat in silence, being that her mother had taken the phone. She cut on her SWV CD and played it on repeat, because she was weak for David. A few hours later, her mother let her take the phone call from Kyla being that Kyla was just checking in on her.

“Here, you have fifteen minutes on my phone,” her mother said, handing her the phone.

“Hello,” she spoke into the phone.

“Hey bitch, you okay?” Kyla asked, in a concerned tone.

“I’m straight, you know Mrs. Holier than thou be trippin’.”

  “You stupid,” chuckled Kyla.

  “I’m serious.”

“She scared the hell out of me when she walked in the house. All I saw was my life flash before me.”

“Shit, imagine my surprise when I got off the bus.”

“I know you don’t have that much time, so hold on,” Kyla stated.

“Hey,” she heard the voice that made her light up.

“Oh my God, I am so sorry about today,” she blurted out.

“Mom’s wasn’t playing, I got the hell out of dodge,” he laughed.

  “Don’t laugh!”

“I thought she was going to hit me too,” he joked.

After making sure Keema was okay and letting her know he wasn’t judging her off her mother, she felt better as they ended the call. She was going to have sweet dreams after speaking to David.

For the rest of the night, Keema stayed in her room praying her mother had nothing else to say on the situation, and thankfully she didn’t. The night went smoother than Keema expected, especially since her sister had come and got her kids.

It was a typical Sunday morning, and the entire family excluding Keema’s dad was up getting ready to head to church. Her brothers usually did their own thing, but on Sunday morning, her mom expected them to all go and p
raise God.

They went to a pretty-large church in L.A. There were plenty of members and most of them knew each other, but honestly, it was hard to know everyone in a church with over three hundred members.

Once they arrived at church, they drove around the parking lot looking for a space to park. There were so many people, that you had to arrive early, just to get a decent parking spot. Thankfully, Kyla’s mom was saving them a space. Once they parked, a huge smile swept across Keema’s face.

“Hmmph that lil boy sure have you open,” her mom said, with a slight attitude.

Standing next to Kyla’s mom, was David and his mother, not to mention others of her best friend’s family members. All Keema cared about, was the fact that David was indeed standing there.

  “Hey best friend!”

Keema rushed towards Kyla, and they stood there embracing like they hadn’t seen each other in a long time.

  “What’s up, mine?” David said.

  “Mine?” Keema questioned.

  “You mine, right?” David quizzed.

The smile that beamed off her face let it be known she was loving the idea of being his. She nodded her head up and down so he knew he had her heart.

Their parents ushered them all in the sanctuary, hoping to get a good seat. The kids didn’t care as long as they had the opportunity to sit together. As they stood around fellowshipping before the service started, other children they knew in the church came to the area where the kids were hanging out.

“What’s up Kyla? Hey, Miss Beautiful Chocolate,” a cute caramel boy greeted.

Both girls replied to the young man, and David grabbed Keema by the arm, damn near yanking her towards him. The grip he had on her arm, caused her to snatch away. He was handling her so aggressive that it kind of frightened her.

An elder at the church noticed the situation, and was looking on and shaking his head, signifying for David to stop being aggressive. What shocked Keema, was when he gave the elder the finger. All the man did was look away after that.

After church, her mother had to be filled with the spirit, because she let her go over to Kyla’s house while the adults went to night service. Feeling ecstatic to spend time with her boyfriend and her friends, she was all smiles.

  “What’s up y’all?” she boasted.

  “Yous free bitch,” joked Kyla.

Everyone burst into laughter. They sat around just joking and listening to music, when everything took a turn for the worse.

  “Keema I’m thirsty,” David stated.

“It’s some Kool-Aid in the kitchen,” she replied.

By the time the sentence left her mouth, David was standing up over her while she sat on the couch. She glanced up at him with a huge smile across her face but was met with an openhanded slap to the face.

“I said I’m thirsty,” he spat.

She looked around the room filled with boys and girls, and no one flinched or tried to scold him. It was as if they expected him to hit her. Kyla even turned a blind eye to her cousin hitting her. Never have been in a situation like this, she didn’t know what to do. Since no one came to her rescue, all she thought to do was get up and get him what he wanted. She had no clue what could have happened next.

After obliging David, her fun time was ruined. She rushed to the bathroom where she finally let her tears fall. She was ready for her mother to come get her. Sitting on the toilet, allowing her tears to flow free, she prayed that her mother would come soon, so she could get away from David.

Keema was a fighter, so the fact that she allowed David to hit her and she did nothing, made her feel worse.

“You should have slapped his ass back,” she scolded herself.

The more she replayed the scenario, the harder she cried. She thought about all the ways she should have handled the situation and tears continued to saturate her face.

Tap-Tap… She heard at the door.

Thinking it was Kyla she slowly opened the door.

There she was standing face to face with David, instead. She looked in his eyes and tears fell down her face. The guy she was so into had hurt her, to a point where she didn’t know how she felt.

  “Are you okay?” he asked.

  “I’m straight.”

David walked in the bathroom and pulled her into his arms.

“I’m sorry baby, a nigga didn’t mean to hit you. You know I love you right?”

Hearing David say he loved her, immediately changed her heart. In her mind, if he loved her then he was truly sorry. She wrapped her arms around his waist, and held on tight to the boy who loved her. She was just thankful there was no bruise on her face, so that her parents and siblings wouldn’t know what happened. She spent the rest of the evening with David catering to her every need, which made her feel like he was really, sorry.

  Chapter 6

Keema was shocked when her oldest brother picked her up at almost 11:00. She didn’t think her mother would let her stay at Kyla’s house that long, even though school was still out for summer break. A part of her thought, maybe it was some bullshit and drama going on at her house, and her mother forgot about her. Nothing really mattered though. Keema was on cloud 9 from hearing David tell her he loved her.

“Why you all cheesing and grinning girl?” Keema’s brother grilled.

Before she could answer, her brother looked back at Kyla’s house, and saw David standing on the porch with a sly grin on his face. The look made him cringe a bit.

“Yeah, aight. Let me find out this lil nigga got you gone in the head.”

Keema started to protest her brother’s accusation but chose against it. David did in fact have her head gone. She didn’t want it to be known, so she let him gather whatever he wanted to from her silence.

“Keema, don’t think nobody peeped how he grabbed you in church either. All I’m going to say, is be smart Keema. You weren’t raised to fall for no okie doke.”

A silent prayer went up. Keema was in no mood to hear a lecture about the man she loved. She wanted her brother to shut up and hurry up and get her home. David instructed her to call him when she got home. He told her it shouldn’t take no longer than twenty-seven minutes after the time she left before his phone rang.

Two weeks had gone by since Keema and David had last seen each other. Her mother decided on an impromptu road trip to Chicago to visit family. Keema was livid. Not only did it take forever to get to Chicago by car, but, she wouldn’t be able to go to Kyla’s house to see her man. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, their conversations were limited.

“As soon as you get back, make your way over here to see daddy,” David demanded, during one of their phone conversations.

Keema chuckled, “Daddy? Who is daddy?”

“Bitch stop playing with me. You think that shit is cute, but it’s irritating as fuck.”

Keema was shocked and taken aback. She couldn’t believe David had called her out of her name. Instantly she thought back to the day he hit her, now he was calling her out of her name. Then she thought about how he said he loved her, so she knew there had to be some type of misunderstanding. David quickly noticed the silence and knew he had to fix the situation. He burst into laughter.

“Keema baby, you know I’m just playing with you pretty lady. I play a lot, baby. You got to get some tough skin. I’m the king of jokes. You’re my queen, you know that? I love you.”

Just like that, Keema’s frown was turned upside down. She agreed to see him as soon as she got back, by any means necessary. They talked a few more minutes before her mother demanded her to get off the phone.

The next day after getting back from Chicago, Keema asked to go to Kyla’s. Her mother allowed her to go with no hesitation. That was surprising, but she asked no questions. Instead, she got cute and scurried out the door. Her heart raced for some reason, as she rang her best friend’s doorbell. As she waited on someone to answer, she was looking down at herself to make sure her outfit was still in orde
r.

  “Yeah, you’re looking good.”

David’s voice startled her. She wasn’t expecting him to be the one who answered the door.

“Oh…uh, hey handsome,” she spat nervously.

He wasted no time grabbing her and pulling her into the house. Once the door was closed, he pinned her up against the wall and kissed her lips. Keema thought she was going to melt when he sucked on her bottom lip, firm, yet gentle at the same time. She let out a slight sigh, because the feelings she was experiencing was becoming overwhelming. However, she liked it.

David felt Keema’s young, tender nipples grow hard against his chest. To him, that was his signal to go further. He cupped her left breast and rubbed his thumb over her nipple. Keema didn’t stop him, although her heart was racing. Seconds later, she felt his hand under her skirt, pulling her with one hand, while pulling her breast out of her bra with the other. Keema was stuck. She moaned out loud and David smiled. He then grabbed her hand and led her down the dim stairs where he had some Uncle Luke playing in the background. They sat on the couch and continued to kiss some more. David attempted to slide his hand in Keema’s panties.

  “Wait David!” Keema protested.

“What’s wrong? I already know you a virgin, so I got you.”

“It’s just that I always thought my first time would be different.”

“This ain’t no fucking fairytale Keema.”

“But, I’m just kind of scared, honestly,” she finally admitted.

David had enough talking. He pinned Keema down to the couch and used one hand to get her skirt and panties around her ankles.

“Stop David. I don’t want to do this,” she begged.

  “You’re mine. I got you.”

Keema’s plea for him to stop had fallen on death ears. Before she knew it, David had roughly entered her with no protection. Tears of pain and sorrow streamed down her face. David constantly whispered he loved her in her ear, which confused her tremendously. A few minutes later he was releasing himself all over her stomach and chest. Keema felt violated. He got up, grabbed a washcloth, and threw it Keema.
